Issues patching - Multiple reinstalls, help?

Hi guys!

My husband just put a more powerful graphics card in my PC and I upgraded to Windows 7. I've now uninstalled and reinstalled the classic UO client from uoherald.com 4x. Nada. While loading and going to the patch session this is the message I get; "Error during session. You may not have the most current version.. blah blah blah". I've done all I know to fix this. Could I get a lil' help please? :)

Here's what I've done;

- Checked for a patch folder under program files, EA, UO, nothing there.
- Uninstalled, reinstalled.
- Tried to patch and play with no luck, rebooted PC, tried to patch again.
- Followed the UO Herald instructions exactly. Uninstalled, cleaned the disk, rebooted, defragmented, rebooted, reinstalled. Annnd - nothing! Same message.

The computer was just reformatted days ago and I've not been able to log in since. I'm not exactly computer savvy but I can typically work my way through this kind of thing. Does UO have issues with Windows 7 I'm not aware of?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

Not sure if this is your problem or not - but I have heard a lot of users say that you have to run it as an administrator when using Windows 7. Try that and good luck!

The exact same thing happened to me with Windows 7. It shows the patch downloading, then the error message and no patch subdirectory. All you have to do is right click on the UO desktop icon or link in start menu, select run as administrator, and it will patch correctly. After the program was patched, I was able to start the program normally by just double clicking the desktop icon.

Dear God. That was it! lol.. thank you! =) I've spent way too much time trying to figure this out on my own when I could have just put that post up sooner. Great! That explains why the KR client icon had a little shield on it. It was already set for administrator. Thanks again for the help!
