Building A Sampire - And Keeping It Basic!

Hey all, I hope you don't mind yet another thread on the topic, but for many of us returning players the changes in the game are enormous, and like many others I'm having to take each character slowly and from scratch! I've read many, many threads but I'm still not sure of a number of specific points, so I wanted to ask them here if I may; Starting with...

The Stats

I've purchased and eaten the +25 stat increase scroll. This currently gives me a maximum Stats of 255. What Str, Int and Dex do I need to aim for? I read 30 Int is enough, is that correct?

The Skills

Currently I have the following from a combination of role playing a Ghost originally, and moving skills about from purchased Soul Stones;

Swords 110 / 120
Necromancy 98.1 / 100
Spirit Speak 100 / 100

I have access to GM Meditation, Focus, and Tactics, but most Sampire builds seem to avoid these. I've noticed some people choose Anatomy, and some go for Spirit Speak in the sticky, but I'm not really sure on the differences... could someone explain it in simple terms please?

I am aware I'm going to need to do a lot of grinding some skills, like Chivalry and Bushido, as they were not in game when I left, and I don't have any points in them yet. A quick tutorial on how to gain these would be appreciated if anyone has the time, thank you!

I also should add my account is only 31 months old, so I only have access to 710 points in total at the moment...

The Equipment

This is where I REALLY get confused, as the properties are so complex now! I'm on Europa, and have a few million knocking about, so purchasing a basic set up would be ideal... However I still need to get the hang of optimising this build so I can improve him later of course. So in really simple terms please, what is the priority of bonuses I need? Any particular items that people prefer would be nice to hear about too...

Again, I apologize if this has been gone over countless times on the boards, but most threads seem to be targetted to people who have a good grounding in the basic melee part of the game now... but it's changed so, so much since I played I've no clue how to play anything but casters any more (whose basic spells remain the same!). Hence I wanted to ask my own basic questions, tailored to my own needs instead... Thanks in advance for any answers given!

30 is enough if youll have some on your suite, as an elf i have 10 initially and get the rest from the racial ability and on armour.

You want to aim for (standard sampire)
120 wepon skill
100 anat (extra dmg)
100 tact (extra dmg)
99 necro (for vampric embrace)
120 bushido (crit chance/ls/evasion/confidence)
61 chiv (EoO)
120 parry (more chance to parry with bushido aswell)

You will notice lots of people play slightly different templates like healing instead of parry etc.
SS is swapped out for anatomy depending on what your fighting as you can use CW for extra healing and if you wish the other necro spells, corpse skin/animated dead...

Parry - go to sheep pens with a wepon equipped you dont have skill in, go into horific beast for hpr, get the sheep hitting you and youll go 50-120 in a few hours.
Bushido - get a horse and a suite with lots of mr/mi/int, say all kil,l get it hitting you (not in guild) and spam LS.
Chiv - just cast spells lots!

I also should add my account is only 31 months old, so I only have access to 710 points in total at the moment...
Id drop some in either, swords, bushido or parry.

There is loads of threads here about kit for all levels of players from new to advanced suits. Basically you want HPI/SI/STR/DEX and if you have room mana, and resists aim for 70/95 for vampric embrace/70/70/70-75 (depending if human or elf)

On a side note..

If you check posts on this forum with the search engine you would find all the answeres i posted ;)

:D

Oh and wepon you want HML/HSL/HLA/DI/SSI, if you have enough stamina and SSI on items you can drop it off faster wepons for another mod like hit spell or HLD (if you dont have M&S glasses)

On a Basic Equipment build I find the keys to focus on are:

- 45 DCi
- Dex before Stamina if you have healing.
- 60`s Resist in Vampire form
- Mana Leech weapon
- Everything after this is Gravy.

Stats (if you don`t have access to stat boost equipment)

Elf:
120 Str
10 Int
125 Dex

Human/Garg:
100 Str
30 Int
125 Dex

Skill:
Besides the the standard 120 weapon/120 Bush/99 Necro, thats a personal choice ppl have to experiment with to find the best mix for them.

Thanks for the tips so far... I did find and read the equipment threads, but so many of them assume you've not only understand the last 6 years of changes, but have characters that can wander about anywhere, killing anything and buying the bits left behind... but my first task is to go naked in a field with a GM made shield, thanks!

Welcome back! You can definitely get started with your current char and a few milion gold. I would start with the basic skills and then branch from there.

120 Weapon (I use maces, but swords are great too)
120 Bushido
120 Parry
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
99 Necro
61 Chiv@

@ - I increase chiv to 70 via skill jewelry

I didn't see if you are a human or an elf. I recommend an elf for the free 20 mana. You can then use the stat setup Zalan recommended. The second reason I like to run elf is for Fey leggings. You need to fit 45 DCI on your suit. Fey leggings have 20 DCI plus 6 hiot point increase and they are cheap for an elf. There is a human version, but they are roughly 10 times more expensive.

Then the best thing you can do is befriend a legendary artificer. You can build a terrific suit with Fey legs, and imbued neck, chest, arms, and hand pieces. Imbuing made awesome suits reachable for the masses. I recommend the Mace & Shield glasses for the head piece. You can save up for those and use a temp piece instead. The ring, bracelet, cloak, robe, apron, and talisman fill out the special mods to make your suit truly outstanding.

Thunderz has posted a few pics of his suit. It is truly a thing of beauty, but there are many ways to set up your char. IMO, first get 70/95/70/70/70, then ensure you have 45 DCI and 100 DI. Then max dex and stamina. Then I fit in as close to 25 HPI as I can and some HCI (usually 40). Recently I've been building all of my sampire suits with 40 LMC and it has improved my effectiveness considerably. For arties, I use the following:

- Fey Legs
- Conjurer' garb
- Conjurer's Trinket
- Crimson Cincture
- Ranger's Cloak of Augmentation
- Mace & Shield Glasses
- Fire Earrings of Protection

Weapons are key. Use the stratics combat calculator to determine damage per second (DPS) and go with the highest. I try to run with 30 SSI on the weapon (35 with the above cloak) and just about 180 stamina. I can swing a 3.25s weapon at max swing speed above 150 stamina with that much SSI. So your weapons will be something like this:

30 SSI
40 DI
44 HML
44 HSL
Slayer or HLA

Certainly you can tweak those depending on your needs. And there are times when you can use less SSI depending on the weapon. Experiment and have fun! You can save imbuing ingedients from your hunts and provide them to an artificer. I know I personally would gladly imbue items for anyone that provided all of the supplies.

I hope that helps.
