2d paperdolls and Hiryu art revamp

Hey Devs,

Just curious is there some reason why we can't have a toggle to select an exact replica of the 2d paperdolls in EC? I really think this is something alot of players would LOVE to have and may actually get people to switch over clients.

Second is there anyway you guys could make the EC hiryu look like the 2d hiryu. The art, size, and hueing of the EC hiryu are all wrong and are so bad it literally makes you want to claim your bonded hiryu release it and kill it for being so darn fugly. Until you remember you can just log into 2d and not choke on your own vomit when using it.

The face selections need to be redone - NO FRACKING CELEBRITIES

And a massive HELL NO to the 2D paperdolls being shoehorned into the EC. The client is already saddled with enough underwhelming 13+ yo graphics.



The hiryus do need to be put out of their misery though.

As for the paper doll I agree Martyna Zmuir we have enough 2D shoehorned into the client. 2D is holding back the EC too much already. Let's at least keep them separate.

Now that much I agree on! Lets keep them separate.... but for Gods sake PLEASE fix the Male paperdoll..... it's so horribly ugly... and please.... give my Hiryu back his feathers... it's soo Ugly now..... seriously looks like a plucked chicken

I agree with both these statements 100%

also the fact that dragons are different colors in CC and all the same color in EC drives me nuts....

I hear what your saying but the thing is MANY MANY MANY people prefer the 2d client to EC. In reality EC has no chance of competing with 2d. UNLESS a lot of the 2d features that people care about the most are implemented into EC. I don't really see why people would be against it when if they don't want to use the 2d paperdoll they don't have to. This is all about trying to get more people to use the EC. I know for a FACT that more people would use it if there was a 2d paperdoll option. It's not about holding back EC it's about moving it forward by getting people to actually start using it by giving the 2d fans things they want in EC. To each his own but this whole mentality of NO NO NO I only want EC client my way or the highway is a big part of why it's been such a flop. I know i'll never seriously use EC unless they put the 2d paperdolls into it as a toggleable option.....

Rveamp and improve, yes. Go backwards to 2d? No. The EC has already gone too far backwards compared to what it COULD do in an effort to appease the haters (who are going to find any and every reason to dislike ANY new client even if those reasons are outdated, misinformation (from not having used the client) or outright lies).

If the 2d client is going to remain in use, then STOP trying to downgrade the EC. It's been downgraded MORE than enough already.

Edit: Zym's Legacy II package has a good version of the classic paperdoll, yes, it uses the EC models for the characters, but the look of the rest of the UI element is patterned after the classic version.

Also his UI has replaced the classic book UI gumps as well instead of using the standard UI default backgrounds. I'm still wondering why the devs threw in "classic" UI elements that people were happier with the KR versions, but did NOT throw in the versions that would have been more accepted like the book backgrounds (They DID try to put in the old 2d runebook, but that was QUICKLY shot down in early closed EC beta because the KR version is SO much more user friendly... the only thing it needed was the booklike background with the KR/EC functionality).

And considering how large monitor resolutions have gotten (I'll make the pretty safe assumption that most EC users run at a higher resolution than 1024x768), the 2d paperdoll would be minuscule even at full 1.00 scale compared to the rest of the UI making it look even more out of place.
