How do you survive mana vamp without resist at spawn/peerless?

Any tips?

Any tips for blood oath, when you're swinging ~1per sec?

LMC? Mana pots? Macro to remove +INT jewels and re-equip? Toggle warmode hotkey? Remove curse faster casting?

etc etc?

I really don't want to remove healing for resist (follow on from http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?p=1759758#post1759758) and i'm sure many people are in the same boat...

Does everyone just use DTB for para?
Use pots to counter curse stat decrease?
Remove curse for necro spells?

But what about mana vamp - it scares me! are there any parameters which you can overcome to survive it - ie can it leech a max of say 50 mana? so if you have 60 you're safe??

Thanks in advance,

Garm.

Its not an issue because you can leech.

Press Tab. Or Evade/RC. Or apple.

Every character I play has LMC. Re-equipping Int/Mana items doesn't give you that Mana instantly.

You don't necessarily need Resist, but you definitely don't need Healing to solo champs/peerless.

Either yes, or anything that parras you breaks it anyway. Personally I never bothered with it when my sampire had no resist on.

Either Remove Curse for both or its a non issue.

I find it a non issue, providing you have a means of leeching its fine.

I haven't tried lately, but if i walked into heavy spawn of casters, or vs a peerless/dark father i'd often get Mana Vamped at the critical moment just before i WW. Happens every now and then right?
This means i don't have mana for the special to leech heal/mana. Loosing health fast, but no mana to evade etc...

I should also know this (not that i have parry right now on my main samurai) but to "evade" blood oath, do you evade the spell before it's cast, or as you're damaging your oppenent? it's unclear to me, though i *shud* know :p

cheers for you patience here LG :p

You can't Evade being hit with Blood Oath to start with (afaik) but casting Evasion once you've been Blood Oathed gives you a chance to Evade the returned damage and interrupts while you cast RC. The RC freezes you so you're not swinging, and if you're not swinging while Blood Oathed you're not killing yourself.

As long as you're hitting something you're leeching health, its not really neccessary to Whirlwind on the DF, in fact its best not to. Just stand somewhere the extra spawn can't reach you and only kill off the Lich Lords, as they'll Wither constantly while flagged on anyone. In a spawn it could all go wrong at the exact same moment but you can get the spawn on you while out of range of its spells, then run in with Evasion up to Whirlwind, or just go for a more managable group of spawn.

If you're that worried about it get Resist or at least on stone.

Sorry dude this wasn't specifically about doom, any spawn really. But you're just saying just keep whacking something and it'll come good.

Thanks dad :p

afaik = as far as I know

What I'm saying is, its better to have Resist, but if you don't there are ways to deal with it.

thus far, i am finding it is more useful to have resist than parrying

Its easy for me to decide. If the monster I'm going to fight is a necro caster I take resist. If not then I use anatomy and put my apples, trap box and pots to work.

Now If I'm doing a spawn with a bunch of magic castors (thinking undead spawn) I will most definitely be putting resists on for the whole fight.

I dont think you really need healing imo. Sure its nice to have, but I dunno. I seem to do good without it and leech more than enough life back to save my but. If not, you can bust out a dashio/leafblade and feint and/or pop evade. Confidence helps alot as well.

Drop healing and get resist. I did such and have never looked back. For ages I thought that healing was a usefull skill to have and it is for killing say the big scorp thing but for any spawn resist is much more handy. No para, mana vamp, poison, curse etc.
