Greetings!

The following changes are now live with the new client on Test Center, have fun and we look forward to yourfeedback!

Endless Decanter of Water

To obtain, throw a full water pitcher at a water elemental (non summoned) there is a slight chance the elemental will throw back to the player a Endless Decanter of Water. The Decanter can then be linked to a water trough, as long as the player is within 5 tiles outside of a house or anywhere inside a house the Decanter will continuously refill itself.

Live Event:

In the Shadow of Virtue: Rise of the Bane Chosen

Bane Chosen forces are battling the Ophidians in the lost lands. Players may join either side and the faction will reward them for their help. Both sides are most appreciative of players who push back the front line of the enemy (look for the army battle flag to find the front line). Speak with the recruiters in each faction camp to find out what they are fighting about. For each point of loyalty that you gain with a faction at war, you will lose 3 points of loyalty with their enemy so it does not pay to switch sides often. “Peril bonus” is a bonus to loyalty gain (and loss) when other players are assisting the enemy army. Double clicking the flag at each faction’s front line will tell you the progress of the spawn. Special quests are available at the faction camp when players reach 2000 loyalty to that faction. Special rewards are available if players assist a faction in routing the other faction from the field, but be warned, these armies are stubborn and will return! Quests are not available while a faction is routed.

7.0.7.3 (Classic Client)

Um...Guys (Devs) I hate to tell you this but that stuff was already on Test Center minus the Cliloc's and the Bug Fixes.... We got a 218mb patch to patch in 15 strings?

i'm sure they know whats in and not in. They are making large publishes and not patching the client too much for a reason. to make it a surprise I'm guessing. Id love to know what was in the 86mb SA patch. but I'm sure I'll find out later.

James Nichols seriously needs to learn the difference between a 'Publish' and a 'Patch'.

Publish: Changes to the server code, not the clients. (May require a Patch to be seen, however.)

Patch: Changes to the client and associated files. (May require a Publish for all Patched items to function.)

You published 66.2 to TC last week, this week you patched the clients with Cliloc strings and animations.

*Sits back and waits for 66.2 to be pushed to OriginS*

It seems redundant to code out a bug where you could have a "virtually" limitless water pitcher, then code in a truly limitless replacement that only works at or near home.

Were wandering gardeners and chefs really that big a threat to the game or was there some unspoken nefarious use the pitchers? I think I'm missing how water pitchers rank above all the unchecked problems that plague Ultima Online. Maybe they've put on some junior programmers and are breaking them in on something that's otherwise inconsequential.

It'll be for all the animation changes. :)

Can someone please explain to me the nature of this Faction change? Is it similar to the current Faction PvP wars? Is it only PvM? Is it in Felucca? What's the object and background of this? Does it affect guild membership or guild wars in any way?
I have no clue what this is about, so I don't even know whether it is worth testing.

Not a faction change, they're using poor verbiage. By 'faction' they mean only the Bane Chosen and the Ophidians - this has absolutely nothing to do with Factions in Fel.

Is it similar to the current Faction PvP wars?
Not even remotely, as I doubt the Mobs will speedhack or script rolleyes:

Is it only PvM?
Yes!

Is it in Felucca?
Yes, Felucca Lost Lands have the same encampments.

What's the object and background of this?
We don't know yet, as there is no fiction so far. *sigh*

Does it affect guild membership or guild wars in any way?
No... Its an event.. Not factions.. You develop loyalty (as with Queen Zhah) with one faction, while making an enemy of the other.

Actually, it was due to problems with water barrels much more than plants.

I know in the past water barrels have been used to block House placement especially in Idoc.
And there's some factions problem with them or another, unsure of the details.

To be fair the title is actually accurate. "New changes to Publish 66.2"
Granted it's synonymous to "New patch."

NO! Origin, no S :gun: :).
That was her point. For one of the publishes, the Random Community Manager of the Week called Origin "Origins," with an S.

This has been your daily lesson in Identifying Sarcasm.

A couple of notes:

Was just on TC1 to test throwing water pitchers and saw a note that the servers were going down. Didn't stick around long enough to see if there were any other messages of explanation.

Also, ran around on Origin and saw no sign of the ophidian recuiters (didn't get all the way up to the lair but came close) and no sign of bane chosen camps. Could not throw water pitchers at water eles on Origin. (On TC1, you double click a water pitcher and target a water ele and get a message that it shattered. I imagine you get a different message when you receive one of the endless decanters but didn't get to stick around long enough to find out!)

TC1 is back up again. Glad I went back because my character was still standing by the water eles. LOL Threw a few more pitchers at a water ele and got a decanter. (Took six tries total.)

Anyway, some more notes regarding the endless decanters of water as they are currently working on TC1:

I can't figure out how to link one of these things to a water trough. Tried with a water trough that's been up now for a month or more in my TC1 house and the same trough after axing it and placing it again. In both cases, when I target the decanter and then the trough, I just get the message that I can't pour it there. Clicking on the trough does nothing in terms of letting you target anything.

I also tried emptying the unlinked decanter (40 uses does it) and then targeting the trough. That refilled the decanter but didn't establish a link.

Also, the decanters can be insured.

Here are some screen shots from TC1 showing one of the decanters (unhighlighted, full and not linked, nearly empty and not linked, empty and not linked).

Note: Forgot a screenshot to show that 16 uses changes the status to "half-full."

Since I already had a rune for the chest area off the main room of Destard, those were the water eles I used. Haven't tried any others.

Got the pitcher linked to a trough. It has a context menu. You can link/unlink via the context menu even when the pitcher is full.

*Sigh*

Edited to add the following so I don't create yet another post:

Once you have the pitcher linked to a trough, using it changes its status message just as if it was not linked. However, when you've used it 40 times, the pitcher is automatically refilled. Status goes back to "full" and you see a message, "The decanter has automatically been filled from the linked water trough."

Enough making muddy plant bowls for me! Time for something else.

"The decanter has automatically been filled from the linked water trough."

Couldn't they come up with something more non technical. "link?"

Wouldn't it better to get a message that said something like

"You dip your pitcher in the trough and quickly fill it up."

"You refill your Magic Water Decanter, trying not to spill the contents"

something other then "linked"

No, it wouldn't, because your character isn't actually doing either of those things. Those suggestions are far more immersion-breaking than the actual message.

Nope, its not accurate. There were no listed changes to whats on TC1, i.e. the Publish. What was listed was the Patch Notes for yesterday's surprise patch.

Martyna Zmuir: It said "Patch" right here:

Right, but there were still no changes to the Publish side of things and nothing has been Published outsided of TC1.

This is an exercise in getting Mythic to use their own terms properly, a la the Origins sarcasm. It makes them look really stupid to a) use the wrong terms and b) not know the names of their own servers.

What we recieved yesterday was Patch only - NOT A PUBLISH.

There was a patch to go along with publish 66.2 on Test Center. I think anyone reading the notes understands that. It's a shame that you are so relentlessly against the developers and employees all of the time.

I'm not, but I don' really care if you feel that I am. The ammount of poor customer service that the UO playerbase is willing to accept is just astounding.

We're not all going to act like whipped puppies and take any kind of attention and call it good.

EXACTLY

When someone has a job they need to do their job at the level in which they are employed to perform at, if not they need to be terminated or demoted to level they can perform at. For so many years now we have had to put up with the most absence things I have ever seen. The complete lack of communication and community the dev/team has had with use is at best shameful. They continually add new crap know one wants or asked for and refuse to address the real problems.Plain and simply they are not able to perform in there current jobs up to standards that the few remaining uo players like (just look at the numbers). We need new blood that will listen to to the ones paying their bills, they seem to be like the current politician not list to the people and cramming chit down are throats then saying look at all the things we have do for YOU (they mean them and there pom-pass egos).
