Now I agree with you on the part that ROT is jacked up. BUT, the team are not a bunch of idiots, Sir.

I wish the timer would be reduced in between gains. That's all that is really needed to make the system more bearable and likely to keep players around. One minute per gain with the hard caps in place. I would vote for that in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, they said it would require to much time to reduce the RoT timers :(

As Moonglow said, we did try to warn them that the changes were not going have the desired effect.

However, its in the past and we need to focus on what we can do now.

Its not the change that is the hard part, its all the testing they have to do before it goes live. They simply aren't willing to fix that right now. Lets focus on what they are willing to fix.

Your attitude is better than mine.

:)

Here is what I see: I see three changes on the table. Two of them will have little to no effect and the third will be counterproductive.

The reason I call the Dev's idiots (and maybe that is harsh) is because they engage in idiocy. When you look at the situation and you know what needs to be done, but you don't do it, that is idiocy. When you look at a situation and know what needs to be done but instead you do something easy, that is idiocy.

We have spent years with developers who can't fix the things that need fixing, can't make the changes that are needed because they are hard.

Well, you know what? If all you can do is make changes that are easy, changes that will have little if any effect, that is idiocy. It is a waste of their time, it is a waste of our time.

I resurrected the ROT thread to illustrate that. ROT changes were an opportunity to make a difference. They could have made changes that made sense and really benefitted the shard. There was plenty of feedback. No excuses can be made for them. Yet, they wasted time and resources and we wasted our effort for a set of changes that failed to improve the system and in some ways made it worse.

The ball is rolling and some people are excited that the developers are talking to us. I get that. But, if they are spending all their time telling us they can't do the things that need to done, why repeat the cycle of wasting time and effort on changes that won't help?

That is something an idiot would do.

Lets not start lobbing personal attacks toward our developers, please. We finally have a dev team that seems willing to help Siege. Lets not alienate them by launching an attack on them.

Keep in mind that any of the changes we are discussing, that might make it into an upcoming publish/patch is just the beginning. They are willing to implement some easier to code things to give us some initial help. The bigger things will come after their current publish schedule is out of the way and that would come at some point after the month of July.

Please also remember that a good portion of our dev and design team are not the same as those who ignored Siege for years and years. Cal, himself, is even relatively new. I know its hard not to be jaded after all these years of neglect, but lets try to keep things positive and give them a chance. They are lurking, listening and communicating, which in itself is a very good sign for us.

If you have some ideas, lets discuss them! The more ideas we have to draw in new players, the better the chances are of making good decisions that will account for positive change!

Yeah, its a whole new crew of idiots, sheesh man!

Just kidding. Kat is correct, it is a new group of people who seem to be genuinely interested in making changes. Lets not slam this group for the mistakes of the past.

This has happened before. Then people started calling them idiots.

Lets not slam this group for the mistakes of the past.
Can we slam the group that called them idiots and drove them off before?

Two of them have already posted in this thread ;)

The changes they seem to be interested in making are simply another repeat in a pattern of making meaningless changes because they are easy.

If you don't like the word idiot, or idiocy, pick another. It's dumb either way.

Actually, those idiots were driven off by a wave of terminations/layoffs. Then, a second.

Actually, what the average UO player viewed as terminations and layoffs were truly corporate restructures. Many were promoted within and without. In fact, most of the dev's I have known have either self-terminated their contract with EA, or were promoted further up.

As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever personally known an EA employee who was terminated/laid off. Maybe :gun:Sillyfoot. But I think he was technically only a volunteer.

just a little FYI :thumbup1:

P.S. and yea, you should choose another word and edit your post. Don't ask other folks to do it for you. Tacky. Poor form.

I have no idea who you are and I don't care what you think. Maybe you are fairly new to Siege? Some of us have been fighting these battles for a long time.
