Questions from a possible returning player...

I last played about a year ago (Oct 2009) and I stayed for all of 2 months. Prior to that I had played UO since the early days (before T2A, no Trammel etc...)

So I am familiar with many of the changes but not all of them of course.

Have a few questions for the regulars here if youd endulge me

-Is there still spam books/runes dropped all over the place by the gold spammers? That was one of the key reasons why I left (again). The same people day after day used to do it like clockwork and the GMs never did anything despite my repeated petitions. (canned replies)

-Did the expansion increase populations? I am on Great Lakes, which seemed fairly populated compared to some other servers I visited but more the merrier of course.

-I know the enhanced client wasnt perfect but is it now at least as stable as the classic client?

-I think there is a 90 day rule on houses, as in when my account expires my property goes poof in 90 days (or something to the effect). I had a nice 18x18 that would have made someone pretty happy if they were looking out for an IDOC. Any chance of it still being up? This would be nice but im not counting on it of course and isnt some requirement for me to return

-Is there more a focus on group activities nowadays? During my semi recent 2 month stint I noticed a lot of solo play and found it quite hard to join something in a group or create something of my own.

-Is there much going on in Felucca these days? Seemed quite barren last I played and I only saw the odd small group of people doing champion spawns.

I tried new mmo games and pretty much spat them all out (especially Star Trek Online...I feel robbed, dont ever play that game, or any Cryptic game for that matter hehe). WoW is not an option for me either

There are still the books on the ground so you will either have to just ignore them, throw them into the trash, or donate them to the library.

The expansion really didn't do anything for increasing the population since it was released via digital distrubution, so pretty much the only people who knew about it was current and former players that kept up with UO. Since it added more landmass, it might actually make it look like less players are playing. If you like a more populated shard, try Atlantic. If you feel like returning and would like to try out that shard, I would post an introduction on their forum.

Most likely your house fell 90 days after your account expired.

I used to follow the player and put them in the trash hehe, fruitless as it is.

Not that concerned about my old house, can be replaced/rebuilt

Yes there are books, these sadly will always be a part of this game till the end.

Not really but Great Lakes is one of the more populated shards and Luna is the main hang out, i really wish everyone would go back to WBB to hang out.

it still has its issues, but the Dev team is working on them and updating when fixes are made. However with that being said even with all its issues i prefer the EC over 2d any day.

Unless you are one luck person it is gone. They were supposed to move it to a 30 day timer but never did so it is still 90 days then IDOC.

They are trying to add things in that will benifit groups over solos but in a way that does not imbalance the game to those solo people that dont like groups. But mostly you will find Guilds with players within them that like to spend half their time soloing and half their time in group play. GL has many large guilds that are really active.

Sadly Fel is still barren of players. You will find the normal hot spots like Yew Gate and such and the champ spawns, but fel has gone downhill over time, the devs are trying to rework factions and such to try to bring back sparkle in fel but we will see what happens.

Yes my brother had my try WoW, i played for all of 3 hours and said *$&% this!!!

Agreed, Theres alot of very good help on the dedicated EC forum here at Stratics if you run into any problems.

The first thing I suggest if your going to install it is to disable the zoom as it really can make the gameplay window pixelated.

Just returned myself from a break since Age of Shadows was released. I wouldn't worry too much about your 18x18, if it's not there it'll be easy to replace. I notice we both play on Great Lakes and I've already found a place to drop a Large Tower for myself, and several other spots that will accommodate Large Towers, 18x18's, Large House with Patios or Marble's with Patios etc....All in Tram of Malas. Haven't scoped out Tokono Isles yet. Tons of spots in Fell for Towers and larger houses...just haven't run across any spots for a Keep or Castle yet.

It's kind of sad that there are so many spots for large homes on Great Lakes, it shows how the population has declined. Back in 2003 I was still making money off of finding spots for Villas and smaller, now they're everywhere.

Concerning the book problem - you can now apparently donate bags of books to the library - so if you collect them because they annoy you, you can at least get a small reward out of it
