New Item Idea: Book Satchel

I've got so many books on me that I use all the time, I think it would be a nice addition to get a Book Satchel to carry Spellbooks & Runebooks in. This way I can clear some of the stuff out of my main pack so I've got more room, but still have them on me.

I'd like the item to not be special other than it carries our books for us. Make it blessed so it doesn't drop our books, and have it so that spellbooks and runebooks are the only things that can go into it. Would be nice to have tailors make them using leather hides. 125 item limit just like other containers. Etc. Book Satchels should hold all types of spellbooks: mage, necro, spellweaver, chivalry, ninjitsu, and so on.

Well it'd go a long way if monsters couldnt loot sub-packs, but could only take items out of them one by one. Would really help with keeping things organized
... and as a pre-emptive defense, this makes just as much sense as the current system because they never take the entire main pack even though realistically they would.

I've never tested it, my runebooks are always in my main pack, but runebooks don't return to your main pack from inside a container, upon your death the way bank checks do?

Instead of a satchel in your backpack, maybe they should have a little bookcase attached to either the side or bottom of your paperdoll that could hold x number of books. They could display the spines of the books like they have done with the racial ablility book and weapon ablility books on the paperdoll. Then if you scrolled over the spine, it would say what you named the runebook (spawns, banks, home, ect.), or the properties on the spellbook. If you wanted a repond spellbook, just pull it from the case and equip it, and your bookcase would have an empty spot that when your done with it, you simply put it back into its spot.

Have said for the last 5 yrs, we need a Blessed container that ONLY Rune Books can go in, that way all of the many rune books some carry could go into it & if one dies not be scattered 2 & 3 deep in ones pack. I know many of you know how frustrating it is to see 15 to 25 rune books all over the bottom of a pack all out of order to say the least.

I cannot think of one feasible reason as to why someone would need to carry so many runebooks on them...I'd rather the dev team focus on something that actually has an impact on game play.

16 runebooks, 6 spellbooks in my pack... It's what happens when you've played since '98. I sure could use some space to hold more.

The blessed satchel sounds like an excellent thought. I could then hold all the slayer books I like to use. Just a convenience thing... sure would be nice.

More on the idea:

The container gump in the 2d client or for classic view does not have to be anything special or ground breaking, simply make it to the interior of a BACKPACK because it's the largest available container interior. And, allow us to organize our spellbooks and runebooks as we like - as with a regular container.

I like the satchel idea. I carry some 10 runebooks and just as many spellbooks(slayers) and I try to keep them organised in the main pack(or a sub pack) but everytime I die it all gets messed up, frustrating.

Naw, I would prefer to have a book satchel. The book satchel is also for carrying spell books too. And, with all the slayers for spawns, and what-not, the satchel would be a great addition to the game.

What about treasure hunters? With 200 runes to different map locations it is IMPOSSIBLE carry only 2 books. My Treasure hunter carries at minimum 12 books, 10 of which hold the locations to all the map spots. Dieing is a B*$%& because then your bag is this god awful mess. and when your in a hurry to find something in your pack after death its near impossible.

Hey, give me large runbook with up to 500 runes, like BOD books can hold. Give ability to filter by facet and so on.

If you have many runebooks, put them in your house or bank. Just recall to the bank/house and then recall where you need to go. No need to carry 50 runebooks with you. At the house it has the added advantage of not needing to make many runebooks to all your chars.

I carry 11 rune books myself. 2 dungeon books, 2 town books, 2 friend house books, 1 book of important places, 1 IDOC book, 1 vendor book and I can't think of the two others right now.
While I might have a lot of runes, I use moon gates and run a lot.
A satchel idea doesn't sound too bad though.

Do you have to go around trolling other peoples posts cuz you pi$$ed that I told you more than once to go check your settings and that its NOT all UO for your problems?

Its not just books aswell its a whole host of things like Quivers, who carries less than 2k arrows these days so 500 per quiver is silly. Pots who carries at least 10 of every pot these days and dont want them looted like arrows so we stack them in 2s and have 10 seperate stacks.

I would love to see some more bags that hold certain items. This is what iv had to deal with for years now ( the box carries all my other wepons so if i die they also move to my main pack as there obviously insured] on most fighting chars [NIGHTMARE if you get an arti drop and dont see it say on your screen or you die and have to move everything to find your armour ]
So YES please more bags

It might be a minor thing but its easy and fast for them.

Like recently smeone asked for black staves to be craftable as we have imbuing and next day a patch note with black staffs now being in the carp menu

Why not just have runebooks that hold more runes... one runebook that would hold 100 runes would work just fine for me... instead of turning the page directly to the individual runes just turning the page would lead to the next list of runes.

Heck I'd rather refill my non mage charicters one runebook with recalls over and over then refill 10 different books...

This satchel is for holding spell books too.

If you guys want rune books with more rune slots, start a different thread for it - this thread is for Book Satchels that hold Runebooks *and* Spellbooks.
