Weapons/items aside, focusing on skills, what warrior-based template would give the highest consistent dps? This could include AIs etc - but lets not go down the ultra inbued and max possible SSI route here...

Oh and can we ignore Word of Death for arguments sake too please :p

my bet's on ABC / Bushido-Disco Archer?

max arch, anat, tact, bushi with chiv to max out Damage output (480 + 65 = 545)

Leaves 155 or 175 dependant on the age of the account.
Breaking my own rules, with jewels one could add on music/disco to drop critters resists...

Any other suggestions that might be more survivable?

Garm.

Really depends on what you are fighting against and what you mean by consistent damage output. I see more sampires than disco archers. I think sampires are more effective in clearing doom, champ spawns and abyss mini-spawns. However, disco archers excel against high damage critters that are difficult to toe-to-toe.

But in general, disco effectiveness is dependent on if the target is 160 bard difficulty or not plus it's resists. Discoing a dark father with his 30 resists is not nearly as effective as discoing a boss that has high, 70 or more, resists. And disco has to be manually targeted one mob at a time. Having said that, most challenging stuff does have high resists and disco is very handy to have.

But for peak damage output, I don't think anything outdamages a whirlwind samurai. With the bushido bonus - each target takes 100 extra damage (before resists calculated). And you can hit 9 targets directly - even more if you have a hit area spell on the weapon.

My guess is that the sampire will be able to kill more stuff in more situations at a quicker rate than a disco archer would. From that standpoint, I think it has higher dps.

I don't see how adding discord breaks your rules. The damagae comes from the weapon, not the discord.

Discord lowers the target's resists and skills. You would still be quite survivable.

Double Axe.

Being both a swordsman and archer on the same char currently, I can tell you swords does much more damage than archery, since archery is so slow.

More than enough survivability.

You could put enough taming/lore on a template to use a hellhound pack, but that's not really viable with a fighter, they die too easily, and they slow you down.

You know, for most things, WoD is actually less damage over time than swords.

Most definitely.

Archer does usually have a better time, for bosses only. And even then it can be iffy if the boss has powerful ranged attacks.

I'd said no items, but this would require them, sorry i was a little unclear.
