The Court of Truth made available this week's ledger on the activities of its Criminal Reformation Program. The following entry on the community service activities of one criminal, Aldagar Morr by name, was found.
It was Wednesday evening and the Girl Scouts of Baja Girl Scout Troop #1 were discussing the upcoming cookie sale planned for later in the evening when suddenly they heard one of the interior doors of their meeting house slamming shut. The girls gave a high pitched shriek in unison, not aware that someone else was in the house! Chairs tipped and pens fell to the floor as they scurried together in a defensive posture, unsure what to expect. They looked around the meeting hall, nervously, when suddenly, the scoundrel Aldagar Morr appeared from around a corner, wearing a green and white Girl Scout uniform. More than one pair of Girl Scout eyes went wide as Cinnamon Macaroodles.
The elderly man was fanning his hand rapidly in front of his face, mouth twisted.
“Whoaaa,” he coughed. “Make sure you little girls stay out of the privy for at least a good hour or so.” He adjusted his (poorly fitting) skirt. One girl giggled while others remained huddled, clearly horrified and disgusted at the notion of a man using the Little Scouts room. Girl Scout Edith stepped forward, straightening her merit badge sash, then shaking a finger.
“Mr. Morr! Boys are not allowed in there – that’s what the tree outside is for… and there’s a shovel! Dig a hole!”
The girls had, however, been incredulously told to expect “Mr. Morr”. Citizens may recall that Aldagar Morr was recently found guilty in the High Courts of Yew of charges including: Theft of the Royal Treasure and Inciting Hatred and Violence against the Crown. As part of Judge Erlington’s decision for a fitting punishment, Aldagar Morr was sentenced to one month probation, to include mandatory community service, under the direction of Baja Girl Scout Troup #1.
After things calmed down and the Girl Scout hall regained order, the assembled Scouts--who included Edith, Neta, Layla, Tina and Marqi—whispered together on a game plan, then nodded together in conviction. They gathered up their cookie sheets, sashes, and purses, then cheerfully skipped their way from the Scout Meeting House just outside of the Skara Fairegrounds to Britain, a “muffin-ing”-out-of-his-uniform Aldagar Morr in tow. Upon arrival, Morr setup several tables so the little scouts could show off their prized cookies and culinary skills to prospective buyers. An open book was laid out on the tables detailing the scouts upcoming fishing trip and the need for donations to purchase equipment such as fishing poles, bait, renting a boat, and hiring a seasoned fishing guide.
Soon enough, numerous citizens in Britain started inquiring about purchasing Girl Scout cookies. The girls jumped and down with joy and enthusiasm after each successful sale. Mr. Morr however had to be chastised several times by the little girls when he repeatedly tried to bully passersby into donating money or buying the cookies.
“That’s not how you do it Mr. Morr! You can’t be mean, you have be kind and considerate when asking them”, Girl Scout Marqi was overheard explaining.
Throughout the evening, Lord Zorax, Jinx, Grey Eagle, The Widow, Carmen of the Town Guard, Proserpina, Fern Goodfellow, a wandering gypsy whose name was never learned and many others, all showed their support of the Girl Scouts.
While it was important for the Girl Scouts to raise as much gold as possible for their upcoming fishing trip, Aldagar Morr thought it equally important for the little girls to learn their pledges, encouraging each of the girls to commit the pledges to memory. First there was the Girl Scout Promise, which Mr. Morr asked the girls to recite after he passed out several books to them with words that read,
“On my honor, I will try:
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help citizens at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.”
Later in the evening, Girl Scouts Edith, Neta, Layla, Tina, and Marqi all accepted special candles from Mr. Morr which he told them symbolized important character traits such as honesty and fairness, being friendly and thoughtful, and being considerate and caring. After passing out the candles to the girls, he asked them to recite specific pledges regarding these esteemed character traits. Girl Scout Neta’s held her candle high and spoke her pledge with conviction, “I will do my best to be considerate and caring.” Aldagar followed up by explaining to Neta that, “The candle you now hold represents a Girl Scout’s kindness and warmth. A Girl Scout works well with others at all times and looks out for the well-being of others too.”
Throughout the evening, it was reported that Aldagar Morr and the Girl Scouts raised over 1 million gold pieces in total that evening from the warm-hearted and generous citizens of Britain and their upcoming fishing expedition is now expected in the coming weeks. If there are any fishing guides available for hire, the Scouts are likely seeking someone with vast experience to help teach the girls a thing or two about the fishing trade in safer water without the risk of Sea Serpents or other hazardous creatures of the sea.
