If you had to pick the most usefull artifacts still all valid and worthy in the Age of Imbuing (i.e., artifacts which imbuing has still difficulties replacing and which, therefore, still hold their ground versus imbued items), which would you pick ?

They're all rubbish.

I do like my new lantern though. It's called "Weathered Old Chest", SC -0, Blessed.

Hmmm........ so far it seems that the Ornament of the Magician is the one that meets the most favours....

Anyone of a different opinion with a different artifact to vote for ?

The artifacts that have been listed so far are great, but the most coveted arties are those that can be worn in slots that you can't imbue items for - the Lieutenant Sash, the various event robes, the talismans, the aprons, footwear, etc.

midnight bracers are good for training and helping with squeezing in necro on a cramped template

imho fey leggings are useless even with the poison and hci, just my opinion.

you are correct, i confuse bane and these. both seem difficult to work around for me.
I prefer the Aegis of Grace for my elf. 20 dci and 10 med skill! Beat that on an elf! And I love it when others laugh at me for using it, because I know my suit kicks some major *$#@! :)

totally agree i have these yet no elf, how does it help an elf ? forgive my ignorance in advance.
i thought same thing, "faction glasses are 25 and this cute thing is 20?"

I don't like being dependent on faction arties for my suit, especially with the upcoming changes, and I thought the medable circlet was elves only, but maybe I'm wrong.

I got a few points (under 50) off a friend the day I joined factions this last time, and have gotten none since. I'm currently up at around 500 points, but I've been as high as 800, and as low as 100, and I've given hundreds of kill points away in that time to friends. I don't need to get kill points from anyone, and I don't need faction arties to have an amazing suit.

Of course maybe your definition and my definition of amazing are different but I think I have a pretty solid all round mage suit.

70 85 70 73 75
70 dci
100% lrc
40% lmc
6/2 casting
Mage weapon with 120 skill after additions and subractions
35 points in skills including the -20 for the mage weapon (so 55 actually)
12 mr
10 sdi
25 ep
150 int after bless
various stat mods but nothing spectacular

I do have to drop my shield to chug pots but my macros take care of that, and I'm not very dependent on pots.

I bought one of these for Caverns the other night, I didn't like it and imbued a repond slayer an hour later that works circles around it.
If I remember right, Soul Seeker does 100% cold damage, and the rats' highest resist is cold.

I use the aegis on a faction mage on Catskills. It's 10 resisting spells though, not med.

For someone that may spam later in this thread "well you don't know how to build solid suits then", you're mistaken.

Fey leggings are a staple with my mage & dexxer suits also. All faction feys of course. It's much better to build a "proper" hit point increase 25 suit with feys, than the heart of the lion versions that most people run, and more times than not they don't even have their 25 hpi covered.

Consecrate Weapon, doesn't matter what is listed on the weapon. It's the lack of any decent Hit Spell, no DI, the low Hit Leeches and the 60% ssi that isn't needed.

Sign of Chaos is pretty useful for a parry dexer, Sword of Shattered Dreams takes the cake in pvp though.

Not really sure why people say orny.. maybe the faction orny with it's 3 regen BS, but a traditional one isn't really necessary anymore. You can make a better modded suit w/o it.

I find that my different suits for different characters have many more imbued pieces in them than arties but each suit definately still has a need for a specific artie or 2. I like the spirit of the totem on my dexer. 20 stat points as well as the 15 hci are definately usable. I find the orny and aof to not be needed on a mage anymore but i do like the fey leggings to help with getting to 70 dci. Of late I made a suit with the arcane crown and protector of the battle mage tunic. I like it alot, its actually a pretty sick suit(corpse proof, hld proof,15 mr, max lmc, 70 dci, 15 sdi etc) If I ever get lucky with a drop i wanna tinker around with a defender of magus and lavalierre in the same suit.

Since you mention both pair of glasses, I am curious as to whether you equally favour them (i.e. consider them inter-changeable with one another....) or whether you have a preference in using either one over the other.

Sounds interesting........

Do you prefer to build a suit around a given artifact or 2 which you like particularly or do you set the mods you want in your suit, imbue all pieces accordingly, and just use artifacts to "fill in the holes" ?

Also, since, particularly for melee fighting, durability soon wears out taking hits in combat, and we know that imbued pieces cannot be pofed after imbuing (i.e. their life is short spanned, depending on how much fighting they get into....), when building up a suit do you take this into account ?

That is, do you tend to use, particularly for suits for melee fighters, artifacts for high chance impact pieces (tunic, legs, sleeves, head) which can be pofed when durability gets low and imbue the other pieces less likely to get hit, around these ?
