So one of the rooms in our tavern is going to be themed as a "Thief's Den" but all me and my friend can think of are lockpicks... any ideas?

Hmmm. For thief related deco, these things come to mind: pickpocket training dummy add on, dart board on the wall with a table stacked with daggers nearby, disguise kit on a shelf, burglar's bandana casually tossed on a table or chair...

Maybe make some small private alcoves in the room with tables and chairs to facilitate those sneaky private meetings.

Loot room! Filled with bandages and potions, har. Any pirate-thieves can display ships and sea type stuff. Maybe a little mini bar, since I imagine thieves like to sit around and brag about their great steals, while getting a little tipsy. You might want to check the book list for the reward books from ter mur quests - theres a really long list of titles, some of them may be thieving related. I found them pretty useful the last time I deco'd a house. Like the boardgame strategy book near a checkerboard set up, etc.

One of the bigger things that comes to mind, Do you actually play a thief or just wanting to theme it? If you actually play a thief, a PvP Thief that is make sure you leave room to display your favorite trophies, I used to have ships lined up along a wall, and Powerscrolls and SoTs stacked up on display.

table covered with gold on one side, silver on the other, and a delicate scale smack in the middle.

a thieves den ought to be first and foremost hidden. The front of the thieves den should be a shady bar with little alcoves and tables in them. In one or more alcoves, secret passages to the actual den of thieves. Not to mention an escape route or two.

I've always been of the persuasion that it's not how it looks that REALLY matters, it's how you feel interacting with it. Place a small container under a book or under a stone table and pretend you're stashing your loot in secret compartments. Place a pouch inside a suit of armor, or under it more accurately and pretend it's a stash box. Use some of the switch rubble and Travesty Shells/holiday bells/holiday garland to pretend you've got a series of locks and alerts on your door in case thieves break in! Keep a heavy X-bow next to the door and a dagger by the bed, don't put any glass windows on the first floor.

TL;DR : MAKE IT A GI JOE PLAYFORT FROM THE 80's
