Gardeners, Water Pitchers, and the Magical Wave

1. over filling water pitchers is older then the gardening infact I had a multi filled pitcher in the first year for my cook. The original DEV said it was left alone as it was harmless to the game.
2. Cooks use them, gardeners, fish tank owners, chicken ranchers, and Ant hive water drop use them.

Where do you see any harm in leaving the bloody things alone??

Just stop the holding ability of barrels to 1 fill not the 20 you have one it.

Tending to said plants is easier then sorting the 1000's of bods i seem to sort just fine, and fill just fine, currently over 2k Cloth ones waiting to be swapped. I said easy way to make gold not fast, and yes tending to plants takes time, u think the ppl script killing monsters on multiple accounts are making alot per hour per char? or u think its really the vast number of chars they have doing it all day that makes them the gold? For the effort put in by hand if done as i said gardening could be rather profitable for the effort put in, then again, what do i know about spending an hour or two a day for steady flow of gold, I only have two castles worth of bods that i fill some every day. And do just fine gold wise.

No need to garden to understand how it works, and understand how easily i could set up 15 accounts a new one each day with 100+ plants on each of the 5 chars per account and on the 15th day after spending little time caring for them collect my seeds, take the seeds of renewal and transfer seeds needed for the next account and log off the 15 day trial account, to start a new one and take care of the rest the accounts and there plants.
I would like to see you do this. 75 (new) chars each w/100 plants... getting water will be the least of your concerns.

How is it easier. Read what bod is, drop into appropriate book. Plants, fill pot with soil, plant seed, water, put potion on.

You don't garden so have no idea what you're talking about.

honestly getting water is the easiest part, kegs and the potions arnt hard either. Its all a matter of knowing what you doing and how to set it up and i would do it just to prove a point but i dont feel like growing plants on any account hence why i havnt ill stick to slowly dwindling down my 10k+ bods, and making gold that way.

its time consuming though and taking the unlimited pictures makes it more time consuming. That's pretty much everyone in here's opinion apart from yours who seems to think that gardening is a huge money maker.

It's really really not.

repeating myself 'cause everyone else in this thread seems to be doing so

it's one of those little things that you learn somewhere along the way and it's no really huge thing, but it's fun ... and it really makes no sense to break this part when it's the water barrels that are the trouble, and for that matter, it's not even the darn barrels that are a problem, it's the people that place them to annoy other people, that's what should be dealt with

I dont garden cause i dont care to i used to deal with a 1000 plants on a daily basis for green thorns back when they first came out vorpal bunnies used to give some really nice loot, no clue if they still do. And from what im told gardening is easier then when i stopped back then.

I dont think its a huge money maker, my point being it could be if someone wanted to granted the person who would do what i was mentioning would most likely be scripting and using the "easter egg/exploit" pitchers making it all that much faster for them. Bods arnt a huge money maker honestly out of yrs of doing bods ive filled ONE Valorite hammer bod, i have over 20 LBODS for Valorite hammer and out of those 20 i have one missing 2 bods for the past yr.

Bobar, you can chop a trough so it takes up just one tile, but do it quick, before they make goza mats useless rolleyes:
Ah you mean so I can fall foul of the illegal house design problem by using a gozo mat and get a ban?. (only joking but you never know do you?)

What baffles me is how there is always time to fix things which aint broken and never time to fix things which are. For example my bust of Finnegan which thinks it is a 'Ask and Be Answered Ball'.

Lets clear this up (again), current scripts *require* overfilled water pitchers, you cannot use water troughs or other methods.

Non-cheaters aren't really hurt, sure its an inconvenience, but its a minor one.
my point is that a script writer couldn't care less whether overfilled water pitchers exist or not, they will just modify the scripts.

Lord Chaos, once again, you are just flat wrong.

#1 no one was or is cheating by using overfilled water pitcher

#2 the devs made the change because it was affecting some other part of the game

#3 they are going to implement another water solution for gardeners

#4 this change was not made to prevent people from scripting gardening

I am with you Lady Storm...

Unlike a lot of folks who want to claim endless water pitchers were for scripters...everyone who knows me on my shard knows I do EVERYTHING manually. I don't have UA, or any other BS program to do things for me. The one thing I had I considered remotely questionable because of a bug was the water pitcher. I garden for the people on my shard. I charge diddly poop for my goods. And now, I have zip for a reason to deal with the gardening nightmare that is UO. So, thanks devs....nice way to address something that could have been handled in a much more logical way.

I am sure that people will say you are 1 of whatever non scripters....but here's a thought...not everyone gives a flying flip about water barrels

If nothing else, please make it so Potion Kegs can hold water and be filled at a trough with one dbl-click --> target. We already carry two kegs on us so maybe three kegs won't be too much more bother as long as the watering button looks for those kegs the way it looks for water pitchers now.

Which part of the scripts are old and unsupported do you have trouble understanding? The normal scripters won't have a clue as to how to change this.

No, but it does affect them, which would explain so many angry complaints about a minor issue.

You quit gardening over a tiny change that doesn't affect you in any significant way?

I said I have ZIP FOR A REASON not that I was quitting, but why would I have a bunch of plants that will take me 5 times longer to deal with.

And btw, it significantly affects me because I can no longer have one pitcher, I have to carry around overweight kegs, and pitchers and have more troughs in my house than a damn farm. So, other than a few things, no more worrying about providing, thorns, seeds, dyes or anything else.

This was not game changing for most people (who care less about water barrels), changing this is just another stupid idea.

Oh, and as a last rant, could they break more crap with this patch? Yeah, thanks...

Scripters are like the borg. The dev's will get one or two shots off that will hurt them, but before you know it they've adapted and keep right on coming like nothing ever happened.

Because of this fact, changes like this will only really effect the casual players. Everyone knows this, that's why there's an uproar.

Besides, it's already been stated that this change was made because of people filling barrels, it has nothing to do with stopping scripters.

The funny thing is that its only game stopping for cheaters, who will be stopped dead in track by this change.
You clearly have no idea what the term "scripter" means.

While the rest of us will be inconvenienced by this, the scripters will do just as you've suggested... carry multiple pitchers (I do anyway, but I keep them extra filled so that I don't have to refill more than once or twice a week... when I garden, I tend 800-1000 plants... per day), install water troughs on every floor.

And they won't even hardly stop for a day.

Now... we can hope that third party detection is going in and working and that will stop scripters dead in their tracks...

But you're theorizing why they changed it in the first place, and theorizing poorly. This change only causes scripters to change their scripts (maybe). They won't even hiccup. Meanwhile, honest players using an honest feature (not bug) get the shaft.

i'm not so sure they implemented overfilled water pitchers on purpose for gardening, but I agree, there's no reason to get rid of a "feature" that was not causing any problems and in fact was beneficial

this is just another example of the developers being out of touch with the playerbase. I think they sometimes forget that this is a video game.
Actually... though I didn't save a link to the post (and it may have vanished into the great Stratics crash), I'm fairly certain that when the KR client was put out in beta, the magic waves didn't work, and they were intentionally fixed for the KR client so that gardeners (and cooks) could continue to use them.

Pretty sure Draconi was in on the discussion/fix for them too. But... I'm not looking for 500 years to appease "Lord" Chaos either. ;)

Soon....yeah much like EC fixes to make it not so laggy.

How about implementing water barrels not overfilling instead of penalizing everyone else that isn't a jackass?

Well apparently you must know a lot more about cheating than the rest of us do.

But your assertion that the scripts *require* anything is asinine. And presuming that the script *does* rely on overfilled water pitchers, I guarantee it won't take the script writers long to figure out how to make the script fill a water pitcher.

I mean, listen to yourself...

Your believe that making a script will die because of this change because now they won't have unlimited water supplies, and YET the scripters have figured out how to make them tend the plants, including the ability to care for them with the right amount of poison, heal, strength, and cure potions... I can't say for sure because I don't use, haven't asked, and have no idea about the program you seem all too familiar with... but if it didn't handle all aspects, people wouldn't be using it.

So you *really* think this will stop them?

REALLY?
