Dear Sosarians,

As some of you may be aware, some people have gotten bans for having goza mat floors added to their homes.

EA has not spoke of the issue as of this time, but homes that have gotten the nod from Dev's in the past are now under the hammer.
The frustrating thing is that no communication has been passed to us prior to these bannings. I am sure the Sosarians would have rushed to comply with any new rulings had they been privy to them.

At this time it is unknown if it is just added floors, or if things like Floating Globes, or other Illusionist house additions are considered a bannable isssue.

I would suggest one err on the side of caution and take it down for now, to prevent a possible mark on your account.

Now see how nice I was??
Grrrrr....Yes that is smoke coming out of my ears! Look any closer and I may bite!

my dear friend Uriah tore down his neighborhood in December to gift me a castle in Skara Brae, a longtime dream come true..... one of the things I was especially looking forward to when I finally get to decorating it was a massive garden off the north wall since that area is quite barren and there is no room for a house (the land is not level).... seems I may not be able to do that :(

We have a reprieve.

Cal says the rule of thumb is..'.if it impeded the freedom of other player to experience the game it is bad.'

He goes on to say there is no reason to take down any houses that do not violate the above rule.

'If they should decide the content for tools, structures, and customized housing implementation they will involve the broader community before action is taken.

Also there should be no unjustified actions against players for their homes or other decorative structures. '

It's in his letter on the Herald.

If you have gotten a warning for your home and have not heard from someone regarding it, I would suggest pm'ing or e-mailing a Dev to discuss it.

Woot!!!

Phantus made a really good point in link below " Re: [UO Herald] May 2010 - Producer's Letter

I don't expect Cal to know how this is going to play out. I can paint a picture however.

All I have to do is find someone's house with a goza structure that covers the ground and say I lost my body there and couldn't recover it because I couldn't see it properly. I can say I was killed by a spell casting monster because I couldn't see it. This could easily be the case even if the house was out in the middle of nowhere. I think Cal and others are going to assume the only time this is going to be an issue is when someone's house sign, steps or house itself is blocked by goza's. Instead it will turn into a griefer's plaything just like the ones currently finding houses with doors that are public and stashing pets in them to call GM's."

So does this mean if i can walk outside my house and see my extra floors, then I have to take it down? I have to take it down if someone calls a gm on me?

If you recall home - and never enter the house or step on the steps...

Any goza's or other items on them (ie: rubble) that you can see at that point that blocks another house/sign/vendor would be a problem. As long as all of those extra goza's are not visible before you enter the house, then you should be ok.
