Every year, BiC (you will see us interchangeably use Benevolent Insurgency of Chesapeake and Born in Chaos. All the same people, same guild...just a different name for the other games we play) has an IRL party (aptly named BiC Party) where I invite everyone in our guild, who is 21 and up to come to my house, and camp on my carpet for a 4 day weekend of drunken madness. (I'll have to post some pictures sometime) We have anywhere from 6 people to 20 people each year.

Do any of you other guilds out there hold events like this?

It might be fun if there were other community people here that live near Austin, Texas that might want to attend this year's BiC Party.

I can count the number of UO players I would willingly meet on one hand.

I've met tons of them in the past, both at BiC Parties as well as UO Dev Meet-Ups back when Origin ran things here in Austin. Lots and lots of cool people who fly under the radar- yet a few weirdos as well.

Dev meetup in Indianapolis one year had a couple... wow it was scary. Had kids with them, kids knew more about the game, from *watching* the parents play, than I did. It was their entertainment, to watch the parents play. I wish I was joking, I truly do. There are some truly odd people out there.

Our BiC Parties are not like that. I'll have to post some photos. Such drunken, drunken madness.

Do you guys bring your Blizzard made WoW character figurines and get nostalgic about the good old UO days whilst wearing footsie pajamas?

No...no we do not do that.

We do different stuff every year. Once we took the BiC'ers to Mardi Gras here in Austin. We generally go out to the lake and go swimming. There's normally an excursion to the tattoo shop for several people. Everyone stays at my house for 4 days and I cook all the meals for everyone. It's just a time where the guild comes together and gets to spend some time with everyone else face to face.

Every once in a while I get random people I have met in the community of whatever game I am playing- but normally the people who come have gamed with me, and with BiC, for many years.

Austin isn't like the rest of Texas. We are like a little bubble of liberal goodness surrounded by fail.
It's not political faction affiliation that bothers me... I hate both sides equally, had a very bad experience last time I was there.
