Hello there!

Yes. It is me again! rolleyes:
So... instead of making a new thread for each random question I decided to make one, my own thread to keep everything in one place.

Let's get started! rolleyes:

  • At the moment I have 4 bonded bake kitsune and I cant decide which 2 of them to keep, at least until I find better.

    Boozy (3,7)
    Hit Points: 340
    Str/Dex/Int: 176 / 136 / 420
    Resists: 60 / 89 / 52 / 42 / 60

    Poozy (3,8)
    Hit Points: 334
    Str/Dex/Int: 186 / 132 / 394
    Resists: 60 / 88 / 60 / 48 / 54

    Moozy (3,8)
    Hit Points: 341
    Str/Dex/Int: 206 / 141 / 410
    Resists: 59 / 90 / 60 / 43 / 52

    Woozy (4,1)
    Hit Points: 311
    Str/Dex/Int: 214 / 137 / 410
    Resists: 59 / 89 / 59 / 58 / 58

My idea (based on what I learned so far) is to keep:
Boozy as a primary pet (a tank) beacouse of his hit points and high physical, fire, energy resists (from what I learned those 3 are most important)

Woozy as a secondary pet (a damage dealer) beacouse of his higher Str and decent resists (unfortunatly his hit points are poor). Woozy would be paired with Boozy or with a Rune Beetle.

    What ya think?

  • How do you train Veterinary these days? Im at 93,5% atm and from what I heard I should keep resing bonded pet without confirming. But... I dont see a confirmation box anywhere. Oh... Im using EC client, maybe that is the problem.

In my opinion, when you get to the hundreds of hit points, 30 won't matter one way or another, so I would definitely choose Woozy as your primary pet, having both the best resists and highest strength.

After that, I'd probably take Moozy, but it's really a case of six in one, half dozen in the other. All three have advantages and disadvantages (Low energy resist on Moozy, but highest strength of the three remaining).

On the other hand, Boozy is just a cool name. Rename the keeper!

For training vet, go out and tame two gaman, make sure you're guilded and have them attack each other. Heal them both until your vet skill is where it needs to be.

Moozy (3,8)
Hit Points: 341
Str/Dex/Int: 206 / 141 / 410
Resists: 59 / 90 / 60 / 43 / 52

Woozy (4,1)
Hit Points: 311
Str/Dex/Int: 214 / 137 / 410
Resists: 59 / 89 / 59 / 58 / 58

Personally I'd keep these. There's a big difference in their strength from the other ones so they'll do more melee damage. Moozy's dex is REALLY nice. He'll follow along quickly after you (pet dex determines movement speed). With a bless he could reach 150+ dex/sta and reach the next tier of .25 less swing speed for more dmg output. Resists are within limits and still very good.

The first pet you unstable is the "tank" - monsters will generally go after it first. So I'd de-stable Moozy first to make it a high dps tank. Woozy's hp are a little less but it looks like it's capable of some serious damage as well.

Rename Moozy as Boozy - to have Boozy + Woozy as pets would be funny.

Farsight has a great idea if you want to power up vet. I just hunted with my pets and let it raise over time. I wasn't too worried once I was able to res pets.

Yep.

Generally i like phys/fire/energy resists to be high in that order and then worry about str/dex etc etc, that's for high end tanking where it's all about staying alive...

For Bakes though i thing the two posts above are pretty spot on )

Don't panic about vet, it'll come really quickly if you use your pets!

Peace :)

To train vet I'd suggest you just take a bonded pet out and train it as you train your vet through healing it. I pick spots where my pet will take steady damage all the time so I'm vetting steadily. I really prefer that method if my vet is up above 80 and the gains are slowing down, at least if the pet is gaining steadily you don't get so impatient. If you loot the gold then you'll pay for the bandages to keep you going :)

I took my Rune/Bake to hunt Swoop a bit and my Veterinary skill skyrocketed. Heh :)

Anyway... I was toying a bit in UO Template Editor today to see how my final template would look like and also to see how I can make my life easier.

Basicly it would look like this:

Taming - 120 / 85 real (+15/+15 jewelery, +5 talisman)
Lore - 110 / 105 real (+5 talisman)
Veterinary - 100 / 100 real
Music - 120 / 120 real
Disco - 120 / 90 real ( +15/+15 jewelery)
Magery - 100 / 100 real
(placeholder - about that later) - 100 real

That gives me total 700 skill points. Both Taming and Disco seems to be pain in the arse skills to train to Legendary so I choosed to use jewelery for them (not sure how expensive +15/+15 are).
I have small dillema about last skill. Obvious choice would be Meditation but Im considering Lockpicking for a bit of variety which would give me an opportunity to do something else (treasure hunting) than just pure farming/killing mobs.
Do I really need Meditation?
Bear in mind that I have no plans in near future to solo anything that would require intensive healing (whatever requires intensive healing :p).
Also I dont have soulstones and probably I wont have any in near future as they are expensive so swaping skill is a no no.

Any suggestions?

You can live without med on that template unless you plan to churn up mana. It does mean you'll have a hard time if you need to use magery to support heal pets. Meaning you'll find some area effect monsters tougher as a result, but I don't find that puts me off.

I would suggest that you keep up training taming and disco though. Disco will raise if you let it, just by being used. That's how I trained most of mine. Taming can be raised if you just do little bits each day.

It makes sense (to me at least) to use skill boosting items on your least important skills rather than the most important ones. Sometimes you won't need those items at all and you have much more freedom to swap out parts of your suit for more useful mods. So I'd wear the items while you need them as you train, but set your skills to rise so eventually you can change them onto support skills.

You probably won't need more than 110/110 trained taming/lore skill though, I'd just use items to boost to 120 when you go taming high end stuff. Disco I'd go for 120 though.

Hello!
Today I started looking for a GD and actualy managed to tame one (ok ok, Mr. Honor helped me a lot rolleyes: ) and I have a quick question.
Basicly wrestling, tactics and resisting spells are lowered by 28% after taming but can be trained to up to 90% of what they were before taming right? So if my GD had 139,7 wrestling then his new cap is 139,7 * 0,9 = 125,7? And Magery drops down by 10% and will stay like that?

This is what I found, newbish luck? rolleyes: (and yes, Im overexcited :D)

Your Pet’s Power Rating: 4.3 [4.3 with skills included]
Your pet’s data [Stinky - Greater Dragon]:
You indicated that your pet is trained.

Hit Points: 928
Str/Dex/Int: 638 / 125 / 603
Resists: 81 / 89 / 42 / 57 / 72

Skills:
Wrestling: 125,7
Tactics: 111,1
Resist: 104,7
Anatomy: 100
Healing: 0
Poisoning: 0
Magery: 104,4
Eval Int: 100
Meditation: 100

I haven't started trying to tame GDs yet, but I hope I can be as fortunate as you were! Congratulations on your first GD! Very nice!

Thanks! rolleyes:

I just did a stupid thing by mistake and that gave me an idea about which Id like to ask.
Basicly I discorded my pet by mistake and now Im wondering if discorded pets are gaining skills faster just like players using satyr trick?

It does seem to work although it seems to depend on the training method that is used. For example it doesn't seem to have any effect on blue training magery, but it does make a difference with combat skills, and I think it also makes a difference if you are training magery on an ev.

Yep, it does make a diffrence. My Cu bonded today so I took it to train a bit and yes, gains were faster.
While discording my Cu I noticed something wierd. Healing doesnt seem to be lowered in Lore gump but gains were actualy faster.

That's been mentioned before as a problem with the gump. The healing skill is lowered by discord but the lowered level is not shown in the gump.

Is healing actually lowered, or are gains faster because anatomy has been lowered?

Discord lowers all the skills. Higher/Lower anatomy wouldn't affect healing gains in the slightest.
I wouldn't be surprised if Discord even lowered invisible skills such as Mysticism (for Skrees)

I'm sure it does. I'd love to see a pet lore gump that includes all of the skills a given pet can have. I'm sure there would be a lot of fun surprises.
