If you decide to reactivate your old account, be sure to buy the Stagian Abyss Upgrade or it will not work.
Between the 2 options you have, I will go with creating a new account. Here is why:
1- Old account + Stagian Abyss: You will get everything for 29.99$ but you have to add 12.99$ for a month.
2- New Account + Stagian Abyss: 39.99$ with first month included so you save 3$
If you go the new account way, dont use the free trial. T oprevent from abuse that were going on, they changed the limitations on free accounts with Update 65. Here they are:

Cannot place, own, trade, or receive a house
Only the “Friend” and “Guild” levels of access permissions will be available
Player Vendors
Cannot own or rent
Travel
Cannot enter Felucca dungeons, or the Felucca Lost Lands
Resources
Only receive basic resources (ex: iron instead of hued ore, regardless of skill)
No bonus resources (jewels, granite, sand, etc)

Cannot receive, use, or turn-in
Quests
Cannot repeat normally repeatable quests
Factions

These items will no longer be usable by trial accounts:
Commodity deeds
Skill/stat advancement scrolls (Alacrity, Power, Transcendence, etc)
Holiday gifts, special rewards (ex: veteran rewards)

Pet Summoning Balls
Soulstones
As you can see, you are way too limited for 14 free days if you know you will subscribe.
If you are thinking of using your old account so you dont start with nothing or almost nothing, believe me, you dont really need what you had. I came back a week ago and decide to go with new account (free trial which I had to call 3 time to EA so they remove the free days and start with my 3 months subscription to get rid of the limitations). Instead of going to my old shard, Great Lakes, I decide to try a new one and went to Catskills, Believe me, players are great, friendly and generous, I already have great gear, lots of money and even an 18 X 18. Start a Char with the skills you want (maximum 49 points per skills so you can get quests rewards in New Haven) and get your skills quests in New Haven, you will have a lot of players who will come and offer you help, heal you, equip you and even, when you will be ready, give you a tour of the land (all of the facets) and show you the good spawns. Players like Lace, Deth, Tallus Cross, Morphine, Talos, Member of the Gentle Rest Inn Guild and their Alliances.
