Sampire Resist Question

Hey gang,

I've run into a situation that I can't explain so I had to create an account to see if anyone knows what could be going on lol. I used the search function but did not see anything related to my particular issue.

I'm running with a sampire build for one of my characters and for whatever reason I cannot get his fire resists over 40. All other resists are 70 (well energy is 75 cause I'm elf). My suit has a total fire resist of 87 if I add up all the totals together. However when I wear the gear fire does not go above 40. Anyone know what could be going on? Does vamp form somehow limit your fire resists to 40? After reading multiple sampire threads it seems that this issue may be unique to me.

I'm running standard sampire build but removed parry for healing (don't think that matters but just in case) with a pretty much standard gear setup. I'm also using the enhanced client. If anyone knows or has information I would be greatly appreciative :)

Having the Magery spell Reactive Armor on will lower your elemental resists, but only by -5. Vampire form does lower your fire resist, but you can compensate for that loss by having more in your armor (like you have). Are you some how under the effects of Corpse Skin? What are your resists without your armor?

Thanks for the quick reply, Barry :)

I don't recall seeing any debuffs on my character bar but I can have a guildy put corpseskin on me in case it is somehow bugged (I know sometimes those debuffs can be buggy lol)

I'm not in a position to sign into the game at the moment, but I'll reply back tonight with what my base resists are without any gear on. Everything should be zero with no gear, correct?

Sometimes debuffs don't go away, Mind Rot is notorious for this. Getting rehit by them and waiting them out usually clears them. If that doesn't then get rehit by it then Remove Curse will do the trick. If that doesnt work, you will have to get a GM. Usually the debuff will show on the little bar.

Your resists, with no buffs, debuffs, or armor should be 0's across the board. If you have the Resisting Spells skill, your default resists will be higher than 0, but will all be the same value.

Ok, after trying a few combinations of skills/items I think I'm going to say this was some kind of display bug involving vamp form and the resist spells skill. For reference here is my template

120 swords
120 bush
120 tactics
100 necro
100 resist
100 healing
60 chiv

While not wearing any gear with this setup my baseline resists are all 40s, even in vamp form (fire resist remains 40 because of the bonus to resists that resists spells gives). When I put my suit on all resists max except fire. I actually reported incorrectly earlier, fire resist was 43 when geared.

I stoned off resist spells and without gear all resists fell to zero. When I gear up I maxed resists. I then put on vamp form for fire went to 62 (which is where it should be when taking the -25% to fire when taking on vamp form). However I then put resists spells back to my template and it seems the value holds. I'm a little hesitant to fall out of vamp form to play around with it any further lol. I'll end up seeing what happens when I eventually die anyways.

I appreciate your help again Barry. I wasn't aware that resist spells operated the way it does until you mentioned it (and I did further research). Sometimes it just takes another person to point you in the right direction :thumbup1:

Figure ill add this is since it's slightly pertinent.

A 40 damage hit with 70 resist is a 53 damage hit if you only have 60 resist.

...and to make it more relevant, it's 50 damage with 62 resist.

Let us know if it happens again. If it does happen again, submit it as a bug to the developer team.

You are most welcome. I try to help when I can. The skill pages here are very informative.
