Re: Monday 3 May, 8PM UK time - Match 8(B) if the Europa Chicken League season
As Bobar mentioned, we had a pretty big crowd, and for once no technical problems, server lag or wandering birds at all - a distinct relief for me! We also had a visit from EM Sarakan, who sadly could not stay for the whole evening but did make a slight profit betting on the earlier bouts, and kindly donated the proceeds to the Trinsic Orphanage.
As for the actual fights ;
Frosty vs Nari - Two fairly veteran contenders now, equal in skill, so a tough fight ahead. Frosty was first off the mark, and took a slight lead, but Nari was not giving any ground and fought back hard, pushing through lead, and then to a well deserved victory!
Trinsic Rose vs Cerulean - Fresh from intensive training, Rose was looking for her first victory, whilst Cerulean was keen but perhaps had not been quite so attentive while sparring ... which showed in the real battle, as Rose took quick lead and was never seriously challenged. Another winner for the Trinsic stables!
Lightning vs Sky - An experienced arena fighter against a bird that just finished her training earlier in the day, Lightning had a tiny edge on strength but Sky a tiny lead on dexterity. This promised a very close fight, and lived up to that promise - Lightning hit harder than Sky, but Sky hit more frequently, and although it went right to the wire, this time speed paid off and Sky took the victory.
PeckyBalboa vs Quicksilver - A fight that proved us experts and the form book can make a few mistakes! On paper, Quicksilver was stronger, faster, and slightly more skilled - but Pecky wasn't remotely intimidated by that, and piled in to the fight. A long, tough and very close fight followed, and just when it seemed a hit from either bird would be decisive, Pecky landed the winning blow.
Trinsic Steel vs Bernie - Again two closely matched fighters, and an unusual start since they both leapt from their corners to meet in the centre of the ring! Close match, but it seems the Trinsic stables are really on form, and Steel powered through to victory, despite a strong performance from Bernie.
Cyanide vs Geeko - Current league leader Cyanide, a very impressive performer, against a bird of equal skill but very slightly lower strength - and Cyanide made the most of her advantage, Geeko fought back hard but Cyanide's early lead was never broken, and although rather battered by the end of the fight yet again Cyanide emerged victorious.
For the final novelty bout, we had a newcomer - the optimistically named 'The Greatest Mongbat' - and a past favourite,with the crowd, a gorilla named Joe Young! Strength was in Joe's favour, although he was slightly outclassed for speed and intelligence, so it was going to be a close call. The crowd seemed to favour Joe, and he began well, but soon it turned in favour of 'The Greatest', and Joe demonstrated that he wasn't that stupid by opening the gate and trying to flee the arena when he was almost down.... but he wasn't quite fast enough!
Since most folks who were interested in chicken lizard farming seem to have set their coops and incubators up by now, we ended off the evening by handing out some free starter kits to anyone who has not got up and running yet, and a few battle eggs to help folks get to started on bonding and training ready for next season. We'll be doing the same next meeting, so if you wanted to get started chicken farming but have not got around to it yet, feel free to call by and we'll do what we can to help you get going!
