We could use more new players. I think for the next expansion, we should sell the new account version 3-4 months before the upgrade version.

So a new player would play this shard among other new players. I am sure some would buy new accounts but that is up to them. The new players would not have access to any other shard except the expansion shard for that time period until the expansion account upgrades were available. Then, everything would be merged and there would be another moongate exit for the new facet.

The new players would have 3-4 months to purchase homes on the new facet.

We need more addicts.

You didn't say this, but I assume new players would get access to the new content before curent players too then? If so that's not going to work well with current players as it's basicly saying a big 'Sod you'.

He retained the trademark and symbol rights. Plus I think long ago on the Ultima series boxes it showed it as trademarked. All my old games are in my parents attic getting eaten by squirrels over the last 25 years otherwise I would scan a picture for ya.

Regardless of how you feel about the sale of Origin Systems, I still think it is a foul even "if" he hadn't trademarked the name.

AoS was certainly the introduction of a shadow on this game and ML & SA added to it. EA needs to admit it screwed up badly with AoS and get rid of the harm done to the game.

I love the way you think.

We could easily lose an island from Tokuno, plus much of Malas is crumbing away anyway. I would delete Trammel also (it is just a copy of the one unique facet, minus that which makes it unique), the spell that created it unravels and it folds in on itself.

With the breed of PKers currently scattered around fel, and the comments of those who will return to a Tram free UO, UO's Bottom Line would drop like a rock as the paying customers said "%^$# this!" and went elsewhere to have fun in an exodus that would make the pre-Ren one look tame.

Think the few fel players and the PKers who don't leave again can open enough accounts to keep UO profitable?

Honestly, I don't see how that idea would benefit this game in any shape or form. Giving new players the opportunity to gain access to the content months ahead of devoted players would only cause grief, and you would hardly see a change in the population aside from a very few minority of current subscribers paying for new accounts to get the new stuff first to cash in on the profits of new items.

I've determined that this game really has nothing going for it in its current condition. Over the past three months, I've devoted part of my time to finding newer, free games that offer much similar experiences as UO with exceptions to some parts of the games. I've discovered what I'd like to call a s***load of games that are offered for free with only the option of donating money or buying additional unnecessary content (much in the same way UO offers UOCodes).

If EA really wanted to see the player base increase, they would be better off greatly reducing the monthly subscription fee ($2.99/mo), or eliminating it altogether and rely off of producing new, improved expansions and a crap load of desirable content only available from the UOCode store.

The bulk of players play in the Trammel rule set, not Trammel itself. If Trammel disappeared, it wouldn't matter to most people as there's generally no reason to go to Trammel unless you own a house in Trammel.

And to my way of thinking reverting everything back to AoS smacks of throwing the baby out with the bath water. There are too many things I do like from those expansions. Although I would dearly love to see some kind of simplification of the item properties if not a revert to the pre AoS combat system. I'd also put back some of the 'mystique' by giving properties less clinical names. '35% damage increase' may be an accurate description, but 'vanquishing' is more immersive to me.

I think if EA can think of something to give PvPers what they want, which is tons of PvP and to PvP with the best of the best, and also give non-PvPers what they want, which is to play under non-consentual PvP everywhere, that would be a winning formula.

See my whole problem with current UO, revolves around items. Items with numbers, items with stats, items with ridiculous modifications. For me it removes the mystique from the game and has done since AoS. I too preferred items that had names and that the "numbers" were hidden from view.

I don't ever recall fictional characters like Conan the Barbarian, or Aragorn of LOTR, sat with a calculator working out the properties of their equipment... rolleyes:

New expansions are fine I suppose. But when they result in what's gone before them, becoming pretty much pointless for the most part, well, I don't like that at all.

An expansion in the truest sense to me, isn't just about shiny new items or lands, it's about upgrading the whole game and all the lands and lore, not sticky-taping a new area that everyone just wants to flock to like sheep, all chasing after the latest wowzomg item.

Seeing where we're are at right now, the whole Tram/Fel facet is really a big waste. Nearly exact same land-mass with only difference being rule-set. They should have just waited until they could have a different land-mass before releasing UO:R, leaving only the original lands by itself instead of having two different versions of the exact same land.

I don't really care if the next expansion has neon spaceships and lasercats but it better not take them another 3 years to put it out. People talk about this publish and that publish being responsible for loss of subs but when the game stays catatonic for 4 years(like after ML release) and there are no major additions it's time to pull the plug.

SA was more meaningful that any other expansion. It was true to UO lore and it was done fairly ok. There was(still are) problems with the renown and the boss' but the over lore and mechanics were definately good.

So be it revamps or small pockets of new land(like ML) that is fine with me but I'm not waiting as long as I waited after ML for new content. The entire team moving again is no longer a valid excuse. UO is now out of those particular cards.

Could people take home what they've won in combat? There would also be people using the land to move items between shards but it would be a dangerous trip I imagine.
I'd say have loot be items only (no insurance here). No gold comes into or leaves this Land.

I think it would be great if they could just make one Fel for all shards that all the PvPers could fight in. It would bring all the PvPers in uo together and instead of everyone being spread out over all the shards youd have a huge player base dukeing it out and seeing who is top dog. How about an expansion that fixes 6,000 bugs, doesn't create any more in the process, adds the 600 missing tiles and tile sets to the housing tool... Gives every house owner a "basement" added to their house that is accessed on a seperate server via a "teleporter" of some sort be it a "trap door" stairwell or special "ladder"... and each person gets a plot 24x24 that is ONE level only and it adds 2400 lockdowns in it's own storage... can sometimes spawn a random monster in it... and has it's own seperate housing tool... that includes "cavern" wall sets.. and the like... And then Illshnar is "changed" to allow everyone from every shard to go to the "same" Illshnar... It's got "consentual" PvP.... where you can "challenge" someone else to fight and they can either chose to fight or not... and the champs there give more goods including SoT's, Powerscrolls and Relics.... along with special other things for killing Paragons at a champ spawn... uniqe new items..... new stealables... And the chests there actually for once would have things in them... And then... Repair contracts are done away with.... and instead Crafters can build a Repair "Box"... as well repair boxes will be found at all smith shops, tailorshops, and tinkerers, which will function as follows: When someone needs something repaired they place it in the box, they are given a "gump" to target a "craftsman".... they then chose "who" they want to repair their item.... if they chose an NPC it's reparied at 80%.... if they chose a player the player can "repair" the item..... with a FAR lesser chance of making it weaker... Then the player with the item can then haggle with the person "fixing' it... over price..... once the craftsman accepts the offer the crafter repairs the item while it's IN the box... and once done the agreed upon gold is then automatically withdrawn from the bank and deposited in the crafters bankbox... bringing back back the community... and personalization of crafters.... also this box will let you Imbue and Enhance.... according to the item owners wishes and both the item owner and the crafter can see what happens to the item.... and both recieve the messages.

That would be the "ideal" expansion for me.

But imo the thing that would bring in the most number of new subscribers is a real 3D client. It can be done, but UO will have to pay for new talent to do it.

If you prefer a 2D view, in 3D you can zoom out at an angle that gives you the 2D view.

AoC and WAR had 700 000 subscribers each, mainly because they had a real 3D client and a box in shops.

I know this is kinda off topic but I am soooo glad the US Navy got rid of the F-14 in favor of the Super Hornet. The weapons rails on them love to leak cooling oil and it's a pain to get that smell out of your clothes.....

Oh and I'd not use the B-52's they don't do it for me. I'd rather you load hang a couple of MER's under a jet and load them up with 500 pounders.... Since Britannia doesn't really have much in the way of "Anti-Aircraft" technology going on might as well let the pilots have a little fun.

Course you gotta get a few A/V-8B's out there, nothing like watching a bunch of Carolina Lawn Darts do their thing....

No you're wrong and you deserve to have your mouth taped shut for saying such a thing. Luna is a by product of what Britain was and when the Repond invasion came all the ***** bank sitters went to luna to sit and not play the game while the bank sitters who were actively trying to sell things or get something decided, "Hey monsters this is what this games about killing ****, crafting crap, and beating each other over the head with the stuff we find and make"


Personally, if there is another expansion it should just be some new damn skills mainly Pirates make random ships spawn on the sea with brigand archers and fast decaying ships. Wouldn't hurt for them to be souped up in hits either. Scabbards and sheaths and eyepatches instead of earrings.

And real duel wielding seriously I've gone over a system before.

I know they can't fix the seas and boats but they could at least try to play to what people want. I honestly never heard anyone clamoring for Elves and certainly not gargoyles, although gargoyles were big in the original games.

We will never be able to get a classic shard because all the tangled mess of crap the code is but I could see them doing right with a UO2 although the thought of them actually getting that right is enough to blow my mind and if they ever tried they'd most likely screw it up.

At this point it's a fall down into hell for UO and the sad part is when most people leave they wont let it die, don't get me wrong I love the game but I loved it more when it was so fun that I was so addicted that I'd be at the computer for hours on end. I do still play but when I can run across the continent from north to south with out seeing a single person it's just sad, and I have done that.

I agree with the idea, although I'm of the opinion we should add things that bring people together, and make sure it's easy for people to get to. Basically revitalizing city centers. If you create a place that makes people want to go there, and add incentives to be there, they will come. I think the social aspect of UO is something that we could be thinking about a little differently. It's an aspect of UO that amazed me when I first came to work on the game 6 years ago (holy crap - time flies!) and it's obviously a major aspect of UO.
I know that getting people to play together has always been a goal, but I don't know that we've necessarily said "Let's just get people together." Not in a sense of creating a quest or Boss monsters that you can't solo (although it always seems that players end up solo-ing a boss designed to not be solo-able) but just approaching the social interactivity a bit differently. I duno, just a thought.
