Today me and my GF went out to go to our favorite used book store. Usually I just pick up half a dozen or so paper backs they don't cost much usually between $.75 and $2.00. On rare occasions something there catches my eye and I just have to pick it up. Today was such a day!
I managed to get early printings of the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition DM's guide and Monster Manual, these have been out of print for about 20 years now ever since 2nd edition was released in 1989. I honestly was surprised to see them in the condition they are in at a second hand book shop, these things are rather rare now, and usually in that condition you can expect to see them on E-bay for $100 or more each. Paid $12 for the DM guide $8 for the Monster Manual....which is an infamous 1st edition printing (Infamous because of the topless drawing of "Female" monsters).
I can't believe my luck in finding these, it really made my day... All of us that play RPG or MMO's owe a not so small debt to Gary Gygax and the rest of the orginal TSR team without them we might not have the worlds we play in now...
