I'm curious to see how people organize their user interfaces! (Especially PvPers)

Also, discuss what you think should be added and what is completely useless!





Don't you guys think they need to add a spell tray for misc. spells for Magery, Chivalry, Bushido, Mysticism, and etc? I'm sick of accidentally right clicking out spells and forget immediately what I put there.


NOTE - 10+ points for those who have a nostaglic set up ( Windows 98 + UO )

Gotta do some work on the Atlas in the top left corner and get rid of that extra space... other than that I'm happy. All hotbars locked in place, the QWERT/ASDFG/ZXCV grid corresponds to the buttons on my Nostromo N52 Bandages (A) and Close Wounds (S) are self to Target Self (G) is Target Next Enemy

I suffer the mis sized artwork and crashes during big events which come with the EC client just to use its FANTASTIC interface.

I keep spell icons either along the right (for mages) or down where the Special Strike icons are for Dexxers, it all depends on the toon, and only the one's I use infrequently the rest are set up on hot keys.

Oh and do I get bonus points for not even using Windows?

I know I have read this somewhere... not sure where or when and I sure dont want to go searching for it again... but....

How do you copy or what do you copy the files in your UO folder to make the same screen interface for each character? I have 3 different accounts and would love to be able to copy the same interface set up to each of my characters screens.. and for that matter even my hot keys to be copied on each character on each account would also be helpful..

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated!!

The screens posted here are also a great help for me to reorganize and set up my interface layouts...

The UI is Copper Enhanced with the mods included in the package (Quick Details Window I think is really the only one shown in that shot).

How do you copy or what do you copy the files in your UO folder to make the same screen interface for each character?

The whole configuration is stored in a file with the name of your character, in a subfolder with the name of your shard, in the appropriate subdirectory in the Documents folder of Windows.
(I think it is something like ...\My Documents\EA Games\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\User Data\AccountName\ShardName\...)

I set up one character, added the general hotbars that apply to every character, then added hotbars for ALL skills I use on my characters (like melee, magery, taming, spellweaving etc.). Then I logged out to save the settings.

Then go to said directory, copy the file with the character's name and rename it to match your other characters' names. All you now have to do is log in with every character, delete the hotbars you don't need and make some minor adjustments.

Once you're done and satisfied, I also recommend to save the whole character settings on a separate disk in case you reinstall your system or the game.

You should try playing 2d on a HD resolution of 1920x1080, Rather fun!

Smelt all macro is a macro I set up after a small series of digs that automatically uses all the different ore types on a stored target, in this case my fire beetle... VERY handy for mining... and it's all done inside the client. The full macro digs a spot 3 times, smelts all ore types then repeats 10 times in one keystroke.

in the above picture of mine I have the macro on the screen it diggs and then smelts the ore and repeats 10 times (notice the ore piles at the end each set to target the beetle)

Thanks It works well for me and all of my characters use the same layout so switching between them is easy (the keys are all in the same place)

also you cant see it well here but behind the map is all the boat controls and such!

Hehe if I launch UO on my 27" iMac with a 2560*1440 resolution the play area is about the same size as a piece of toast

Hence I only use the EC

go to "my documents"
go to 'ea games'
go to 'Ultima Online Legacy' or *pukes a little in mouth* 'Ultima Online EC'
go to 'user data'
then you have your accounts listed
pick the one ya want
then pick the toon ya want to copy
go in there and copy

youll then see the 6 different files that are in there
chardata.mul
desktop.uos
macros2d
Multicache
skillgrp.mul
uo
if you want to copy a toon exactlly you take the middle 4
dont take chardata and uo EVER!

if you just wat the User Interface you take the desktop
is you want the skills group (if you set them up custom like) then take the skillgrp
and the macros2d are the in game macros.

they moved them to the 'my document' section here a while back from where they use to have them, which was under the game itself.

Tri-monitor is a great setup. I just upgraded two of mine to have 22,23,22 in widescreens (22in LG LED TV/monitor, 23in Samsung P2350 and 22in Samsung 226BW).

I should do a picture with the EC spread across all 3 and zoomed out just for fun

(Also having the 3rd monitor be both a TV and a monitor gives a good bit of extra function as I want it)

Bring up your Character Sheet (double click on the status bars gump for your character, or bring up the paperdoll and click the CHaracter Sheet icon).

Set up a hotbar where you want it.

There is a column of icon on the left for each stat in the character sheet. They can be clicked and dragged into each hotbar slot as desired so you can mix and match which stats and mods you want visible. Makes for a nice stats display.

One of the things i need to see if we can get done in a mod is to display the skill value when you drag a skill icon onto a hotbar (at least for those you CAN drag ontp a hotbar).
