Imbuing question... how is this possible?

My guildmate has a pair of sleeves that have the following stats:

Leather Sleeves (not enhanced!)
Exceptional
(Imbued)
Lower Mana Cost 5%
Physical Resist 20%
Fire Resist 20%
Cold Resist 20%
Poison Resist 20%
Energy Resist 11%

How is this possible? I gave the guy a base item to imbue, but throughout all testing I cannot reproduce this... as the most I can imbue onto something is 18-19 of those resists.

Any help?

Was it your guildmate who imbued them and if so, did you ask him/her how it was done?

Or perhaps it was a lucky shot with a runic on the resists and then they just imbued LMC?

Too bad you wrote "not enhanced" cuz that would´ve been the easiest answer, heh...

It was not my guildmate who imbued it. The best solution for this is a lucky runic roll, but the item was given to the guy to imbue. Same crafter tag... so ... I have no idea. Mind explosion.

I think you can opt to not have leather color showing and that might have cleared it. I suspect it was made from a runic kit and imbued up.

It would still say "barbed leather sleeves," though.

And as I said, it wasn't runic crafted. I gave him the sleeves to use.

OK, let's start with the base resists

2
4
3
3
3

Now, add in LMC 5, and 4 15-point resists

LMC 5%
2+15 = 17
4+15 = 19
3+15 = 18
3+15 = 18
3

Add in 11 points from Exceptional + Arms lore

LMC 5%
17 + 3 = 20
19 + 1 = 20
18 + 2 = 20
18 + 2 = 20
3 + 3 = 6 (+3 more if on Siege)

Total intensity is 462.5 + the arms lore bonus.

Any of the resists that had points added can be imbued. HOWEVER, that then counts all the points as imbued. Raising Energy resist to 11% would be 8/15, and would put the item over 500% (139/120), even before factoring in weighting for LMC.

My guess, too, is that it was enhanced or crafted with coloring off, as there have been cases where the material type fails to show in such cases.

Factoring in this, you get

LMC 5%
17 + 2 = 19
19 + 1 = 19
18 + 2 = 20
17 (only 14/15 intensity) + 3 = 20
3 + 4 = 7

With this, and no arms lore bonus, you get

LMC 5%
20
20
20
20
11

For the life of me, I can't see what was imbued, unless it was the LMC (with Imbuing not counting the resists as properties until after the first imbue) before the enhance.

Most likely imbued then enhanced. Dye it then bleach it will cause it to lose its enhance header such as barbed or horned.

k then if the barbed/horned tag not showing is a bug, i can see how this can be made
u would get a total possible + 20 resists (=15 exceptional and +5 arms lore)

if +16 fell in phys with base +2 and enhance(barbed/horned) +2 would give u20 in phys. the rest could easily be imbued close enough up to 20 ,provided u enhanced with barbed/horned after imbuing, to get those resists. depending on where the rest of the bonus fell, he would have 1-2 imbue slots left. and should have plenty of room for the 5 lmc.

edit: the key would be to get + 16 of your bonus to fall in phys

Add in 11 points from Exceptional + Arms lore

LMC 5%
17 + 3 = 20
19 + 1 = 20
18 + 2 = 20
18 + 2 = 20
3 + 3 = 6 (+3 more if on Siege)
This unfortunately doesn't work. It appears, atleast as of late, that when I imbue resists on a piece, even if it is made exceptional with arms lore, I cannot go above the absolute base resists. (2 4 3 3 2 or whatever)

I've made hundreds of sleeves in attempt to test this. Even with arms lore and exceptional, I cannot get it to raise more than absolute base + 15 on ANY piece...

As for the special material not showing, would that also deny me from using tokuno dyes on it? When attempting to use those dyes on it, I get the message that it "must be enhanced."

imbuing only allows u to go +15 above base max(hafta enhance to go higher).
as i stated above, this could be done with imbuing and enhancing(assuming the barbed/horned tag not showing is a bug).

as far as whether u could dye with tokuno dyes, have no clue

You apparently misread my post. I was doing the arms lore bonus and material bonuses out of order for a PURELY RUNIC MADE item, to show how one would apply them to maxed out runic intensities, and to get the base intensity of the item. I still can't figure out what might have been imbued on the piece, except maybe raising the energy resist, fire resist or LMC after crafting, but before the enhance.

It has in the past, though not predictably. There was a bug they THOUGHT they fixed during ToT's first run, where the dyes wouldn't work on anything that was made "do not color", that still appears occasionally without warning or apparent pattern.
