Win a CASTLE in Malas!

Now is your chance to win a castle in Malas! You read that right, a 32x32 footprint CASTLE! On March 25th we will be giving away 5 Castles on each shard. All you have to do to be eligible to win one of the 5 Castles is have an Ultima Online: Samurai Empire access level account that was created or upgraded between November 2nd 2004 and March 18th 2005.

We will randomly select 5 winners on each shard from all eligible accounts and the winners will be notified via the email address associated with your account, so make sure your account information is correct. You can update your account info HERE.

Make sure you are eligible to win a piece of history today and upgrade or create a new Samurai Empire level account!"

Um... yeah, pretty sure those were won and just not posted because the castles are there. In fact, some of them have fallen on certain shards.

To the best of my knowledge this was completed. Two of the castles were in the Grimswind Ruins area. I've passed them often when taming unicorns.

Although here's the tricky part.

to be eligible to win one of the 5 Castles is have an Ultima Online: Samurai Empire access level account that was created or upgraded between November 2nd 2004 and March 18th 2005.

How many players on Siege fall under this requirement? And then, if they did win, did they have a spot they would want to give up for that castle in Malas?

If you are claiming to be all knowing and asking others how long it took to figure out, why are you still asking questions?

So you and a group were keeping tabs purposely looking for castle and thus reporting it to everyone? I honestly doubt people were searching every part of Malas and intentionally reporting their findings to other players.

Point being, unless you have people actively looking for these castles and thus exploring every part of Malas for it, you can't be sure there was never a castle there. Malas is pretty large and not every spot is worth hunting and there isn't much incentive to go everywhere in Malas. A castle wont be close to Luna where everyone goes.

But really, how many regular Siege players qualify for the requirements as I quoted? And if they did win, how do you know they didn't already have better houses in better spots?

That or they just had much better spots they wanted instead of a castle in the middle of nowhere in Malas.

Quite, and just so I know, would recieving one of these castles make another house that you own collapse? If thats the case, I'm sure 3/5 of the people that one had a castle of their own on a prodo shard and didn't want to lose it. The other 2/5 probably had houses that they didn't want to lose or a castle on siege already (to be honest I know nothing much about siege, can castles be placed?).

Come to find out EA had used a blacklisted email service, so a lot of emails never got delivered. there was a stink raised on the issue but it was never resolved. So the lucky few who did get there grandfathered castle, are living high or left the game.

Why not? If I had a nice big spot within Luna I would. If I had a nice tower near Yew gate I would. A big house in the middle of nowhere for me is no competition for a very nice house spot. Just because you wouldn't pass it up doesn't mean others wouldn't. Bigger is not always better.

If I had won the castle on any shard, I would have turned it down. Despite the storage, it's the ugliest thing in game (except for a glacial custom monstrosity).

I'd much rather have a custom 18x18 I can really play with rather than a pre-set plan with tiny little deco spaces...

I can only speak for the single Malas castle on Legends ~~ the person that won it was my Guild Master at the time and was told that he had won a castle on another shard with the account that had the Guild Master on it ~~ having no desire to move to another shard he requested one on Legends, which was granted ~~ he traded the castle to me rather than drop the guild house because he was told that he could not have two houses on the account, the castle would replace whatever he currently held ~~ the house sign DID say grandfathered, but it was not a grandfathered house ~~ after taking possession my current house went into decay and I moved everything out of it ~~~ shortly after that, I also made it primary so that it does not say 'grandfathered' anymore ~~ if anyone does have a Malas castle and the home that they had at the time of winning it, I'd love to hear about it, because I don't believe anyone was allowed to keep both

I just find it hard to believe that all 5 castles was not claimed on sp...

Here's what I remember of that fiasco.

1. The Castles are all on the Unicorn/Ki-rin/Pixie island north of the Luna Continent, that you cross a tightrope to get to. You can go there on any shard, and see how many still stand.

2. I don't think anyone won a Castle on their own shard, at least of the people that were notified. They did make an attempt to arrange trades between people on different shards, but there was no way everyone was going to be happy. So many people didn't want a house, even a rare one, on a shard they didn't use, that I don't think any shard ever got more than 3 of the 5 built.

3. The Email fiasco was as mentioned before. Many people never found out if they won, and I think 3 different attempts were made to send the e-mails.

4. What was promised, but didn't occur, was a new drawing for the unclaimed and rejected houses.

5. Of course, there is STILL the matter of the DSFASFA houses on Lake Austin. I wish they'd give them away to you all to quiet you down and get more people onto LA.

Sure I could have sold it for tons of gold - but at some point - more gold is just taking lockdown space... What's the point?
