Silly idea perhaps, and I am sure people can demonstrate the big flaws in it in seconds.
In Trammel and duplicate system in Fel: Order mage in one town (Luna perhaps), Chaos Mage in another. They are NPC and run much like the quest NPC's currently, spamming a message "looking for soldiers for hire to battle a band of ___ insert name for Chaos, or Order warriors___ last spotted at ____ (insert location)"
Take the quest and you are given a token or key. You can go on about your business until enough people sign up.
once 3 more people sign up for this quest, and 4 with the other mage in the other town, you get a message stating: "I have located the vile bandits, and will teleport you to their last known location" Boom, off you go, just like with a peerless or something. Your recall or gate spells don't work "you are too busy fighting thy enemy"
Both teams are next recalled to one of several islands or areas in the game that are under used and are secluded. The teams are automatically grey to each other and attackable. Game is over when one team beats the other (death), or when the timer runs out (30 minutes?). Fleeing the battle area should count as a death. (Guard whack for being a coward)
I am not sure if I want a prize system, but I actually think that is ok. It may be abusable I guess if certain restrictions are not put in play. Price I was thinking off is perhaps just a simple token saying the "name of the recruiting mage__ thanks thee for they valor in battle and for slaying ____ insert names of people you beat___" and you get a treasure bag with things like a level 6 treasure chest and a chance of an artie of sorts.
To avoid abuse you can perhaps limit your participation to once every 20.000 seconds "you are too exhausted from your last battle. Get some rest first!" Some people will get their guildies and "do the quest once daily", I guess, but others may just do it for the consensual PvP and bragging rights. To disallow people from joining the fight from the outside on fel, you could prevent recalling in. On the other hand, perhaps it is even more fun to just let it happen. Perhaps massive battles will ensue, with friends coming to the rescue of their friends...
