Is it worth looting anymore?

Since imbuing when farming gold/karma etc etc, do you even bother looting?

Miasma for example...even if you find a half decent weap, is it worth keeping to enhance by imbuing? is it cheaper this way?

I don't have an imbuer yet....

Am interested to see you thoughts..

The only time I pick-up any normal magical loot is when i'm planning on unraveling. I don't even bother to check the stats unless i'm looking for something in particular easily gotten magical such as a spell channeling -29 skill weapon.

Me too - other than feling i have to check out of habbit.

It just seems pointless now to kill creatures for loot. that's kinda sad.

cheers dude.

You can get overweight easy. If you are just unraveling then loot only the items weighing 1 stone. Thus, you can collect 40k gold and a 100 items...in trammel.

If i'm out collecting for unraveling I have a chest in my house with a bunch of empty bags. I take one, fill it up to the weight my crafter can hold without being overburdened, then recall to the house and switch it out for an empty one.

Rinse, repeat. I only do this because I still have this daydream that i'm going to skill up imbuing one day. rolleyes:

For unraveling purposes I keep loot that looks like it will yield a relic or can be enhanced to give a relic and then anything that weighs one stone.
For imbuing purposes I look for jewelry that has one or two properties at max intensity. For example, I will loot jewelry that has FC1 or FCR3 or if I'm lucky, has both FC1 and FCR 3 or DCI 15. This is helpful because I save a lot on special imbuing materials and then I can customize the jewelry with other properties I need. For weapons, I will loot 100% elemental, which is a property that cannot be imbued. However if the weapon is really good, close to something I would imbue anyway, I would keep it. It's nice to have a few things that won't wear out. The downside is that looted weapons have 450% cap for imbuing whereas exceptionally crafted has a 500% cap.

Ok.

Say you have a need for a 40% HLD/HML/DI 25% SSI weap.

You find one that is 38% HML/DI 10% SSI

Is cheaper (and/or easier) to use the looted weap to be imbued or just to start from scratch on a GM excep weap?

I'm sure this shud be in the crafter thread, but meh.

Cheers :)

I wouldn't imbue that looted weapon. Once you start imbuing things, you'll learn which properties are expensive and which are cheap. Basically the expensive property is SSI and since that's what you would have to imbue anyway, best to do it on an exceptional weapon. Another trick is to use low end runic hammers to make base weapons with the expensive property and then imbue the rest. For example, a dull copper runic could yield SSI 30%/DI 40%. The HML and HLD 40 would be cheap to imbue onto it.

What is the SSI on your looted? If 10% SSI it would be cheaper for you to start from scratch as you would still need to successfully imbue 4 times (5 relics + residue and essance) and need to assume failures would happen.

If the SSI is 25%, it would appear obvious to me that imbuing the looted weapon would be cheaper (residue + essance only).

Thanks for that tip Shelleybean!

i have been collecting and unraveling for some time. my imbuer is up to 91.x imbuing and i have a cache of 5000 essence and residue, plus ive had about 50 relics (some of which i used on new bows) - all from looting.

see my reply in the crafter thread which asks the same question.

Since you have answered my question on the other thread, i have been collecting anything useful that would end up using frag pcs. LMC, slayers, HCI and DCI are good to keep as well as a high SSI item.

IMO the only thing worth looting is jewelry. Either for unravel or enhance due to the lighter weight count you get a better bang for the buck or, like others have said, its easier to find max intensity items.

I also pick up jewels that have +15 skill or 25 EP, plain or with another helpfull mod.
