UO Macros

I am trying to save my macros to the numeric keypad, but every time I log my char it deletes the macros and restores a default macro file.

Here is what I have done so far:

Saved my macros to the numeric key pad (knowing they can only be used when num lock is off)

Copied the macro2d.txt file into the main UO directory (c:\program files\EA Games\Ultima online)

Saved another file in the same directory as above but renamed it default.mac

Saved the same file again in the same directory and renamed it Macros.txt

Lastly, saved the same macros2d.txt in to Documents\EA Games\Ultima online\Europa\CharName.

Now it looks like I have over written every file that contains macro settings, but every time I log my char in the numeric keys have been set back to a default setting, which does not have my macros saved to them.

What am I missing or doing wrong? I cant find anywhere that documents how to save macros to numieric keys.

I know I can save macros to these keys with UOAssist, but this is not good enough as when I cast spells and get disturbed, it screws up the macros and they need to be recast twice, once to cancel the first macro and then again to recast it.

Anyone help me please

I have tried numerous times myself & ea time you log out they poof. They are still there I have noticed, just not associated with the key you assigned it to. It for some reason gets assigned to the <- -> keys for some reason. :sad4:

Do you realise you have to change the keynames.txt file so that the style matches? The American keynames aren't the same.
Look at the macros2d.txt file and compare the two.
If the macro2d.txt file is saving them as NUM 1, NUM 2 and the keynames.txt file is looking for Num 1, Num 2 they won't save. Change the keynames.txt file to match your macro file.

There is the answer. Many thanks Petra once again you have proved you are worth your wieght in gold.

This had me stuck for years. :gee:

Are macros still saved/changed in the macros2d.txt file? I just went into mine and it has the macros i had like almost 2 years ago, and they have long been changed...

The character files are now saved in 'my documents/EA Games/accountname/shard/char'
not 'program files/EA Games/Ultima Online 2D Client'

Which is of course a mess if you have your documents folder in a shared location.

Depends on whether the folks you share it with have the same char names. Of course, there's still a good side to it - same char names with same template. Also works fine if you have a combined macro file that can be used in any template.

The only issue is having to reopen your backpack every time you switch between the 2 chars. It's is a bit of a bother.
