Problem with quest I can't remove from journal

I have a quest that I can't remove from my journal. It is from the Candle of Love quest chain, called "A Compassionate Task". I've tried to remove it many times but it won't delete.

The problem is that it is interfering with other quests. The npc for the naturalist quest won't give me a quest because this one is in my journal, and now Geoffrey won't give me the second part of the Lamp of Spirituality quest chain, and I'm guessing that it may be because of this bugged quest.

I've paged at least three times about it, and the GM's won't do anything about it. They tell me to submit a bug report, which I did several months ago, but nothing gets done, the quest is still in my journal.

Soooo, I guess the question is, does anyone have any ideas of how I could get rid of this?

I'm bumping this because I'm getting desperate. I can't participate in the Lamp of Spirituality quest chain, and it is screwing up other quests as well.

Just brainstorming here:
1) What does the quest want you to do? Is there a way to do it and then cancel at the next step?
2) Post your problem in the Ask the Devs forum and hope it gets reviewed. This probably won't help you in the short term.
3) Extreme solution - soulstone off all skills, empty bank, stables, etc and delete the character.

I'm thinking I will put in a support request and see what happens. 3) is out of the question, I don't have the gold to buy all the scrolls I would need to replace the ones that have been used on that character. It is my most advanced character.

The naturalist quest and I think both solen quests, for the bags and for the powder, as well as the obsidian statue quest, are not listed in the quest journal.

You are only allowed to be on ONE of the above quests at any one time because they are listed on your avatar.

Left click on your character as though you were opening the item insurance menu or toggling a quest item and look for VIEW QUEST LOG.

Click on that to see which quest you are currently on and to resign it if you wish.

Being on one of the above named quests will prevent the Naturalist from giving you the rare seeds quest.


I had to go to New Haven on Pac to accept the Obsidian statue quest to get the view quest log to show in my context menu and it seems Pacific has 2 Elwood McCarrin the Well-Known Collectors.

I'd post a screenie but the last one I posted was too large and I got yelled at.

Thanks so much! The problem with the Naturalist quest was wasn't a Solen quest, it was the summoning quest for Doom. That is sorted now thanks to you, but I still can't get Geoffrey to talk to me so that I can do part 2 of the Ranger of the Abyss quest...

Have you done dextor's quest and got the lantern?

Did you try talking to him with the lantern equipped?

After getting the lantern from Dexter be sure it is equipped or Geoffrey won't talk to you.

Yes, I tried it with the lamp equipped and unequipped and with it on and off, and no dice. He doesn't want to talk to me, and yes I did Dexter's quest.

I haven't done any of these new quests and don't intend to. However, I've noticed with other quests that you can't mark items as quest items if they are not in the top layer of your backpack. With these new quests, even if you don't have to mark items as quest items, perhaps you also have to make sure items you had to collect are in the top layer of your backpack?
