Bought the 3 month package. I will still be around, and if after 3 months I hate it, I am sure I will be back full time. If I love it I will figure out a creative way to drop my houses.

The skill gain system is unique. There is no cap. Think of it like UO with soulstones.Darkfall was a great game, and gave me the same feeling of Siege, while looking and feeling a lot newer.
However, and this my be corrected now I do not play anymore, I hated the skill system. Gains were very UO, however there was no real hard cap, just a soft one (skills would gain very slowly...but still seemed faster then SP does). What this ending up being is every high end char with identical templates. Everyone in my guild was a Mage/Rogue/Tank/Healer/Archer/Etc. Kind of killed the game for me.
But good luck, and let me know if they have fixed that, might just have to join back up. Other then that, it was a great game. Still hoping on Mortal Online myself.
It's painfully obvious the game must suck or their forums suck because your here posting on sp forums 24/7 or bragging how you play atl...The skill gain system is unique. There is no cap. Think of it like UO with soulstones.
The problem is people don't know how to make templates out of it... lol. People are very used to Developers holding a players hand in creating a character. They put in skill caps and fit skills into templates people can use... ull see things like healers, mages, warriors, rangers, etc. individually cut out and pre-made for you almost.
You only get 1 character in DFO. So imagine being a crafter and never being able to go hunt a monster even if you felt like it b/c you were pigeon held into just being a crafter.
So it's completely open ended. You can go after everything or just what you enjoy. Be warned that going after everything is a monstrous task.
Templates are based on the gear your wear.
Melee - heavy armor
archery/melee - medium/heavy armor
archery/melee/magic - medium/light armor
mage/melee - light armor
Then there is mounted combat where the melee obviously has the advantage. A lot of fight breaks down into melee on foot too.
A good archer who can actually hit people will out DPS a magic user. A magic user who knows what he's doing can juggle their opponent. etc. etc.
For example... the bare minimum you need to experience all aspects of PvP and PvE
75+ 2 hand weapon mastery
75+ 1 hand weapon mastery
75+ sharp shooter (archery)
100 lesser magic (free because you can train up heal self and mana missile)
100 greater magic (and confusion needs to be 50+ to be usefull it is the level 100 spell)
75 witchcraft (it is very helpful, not absolutely required, but you'll want it.)
30 spell chanting (for sacrifice.)
That's the bare bones character.
You can start to specialize your character at this point. I'm picking up magic so Im going hybrid. I get my ass handed to me against magic users at the moment because I'm no longer spec'd to deal with them. As my magic gets trained, I'll be able to fight back with my current set up.
There's a lot of info I've covered and mountains more than I did not. Without typing any more of a book... just ask questions if you want to know more.
tks.
I am simply not having fun on UO any more. I've left for a few weeks before because I got frustrated, or because I was bored, but right now to me, the game is just not fun. It seems there are two sides, A and B. And the game play is in between, so neither A nor B are enjoying themselves, and only a very small percentage are. I log on, get a gain, and log off. It's painfully obvious the game must suck or their forums suck because your here posting on sp forums 24/7 or bragging how you play atl...

Over the past two months the only real experiences I have had were:
Stealth archer ganks
Dismount Ganks
Tamer PvP
Lack of items I want/need to buy
Grinding RoT nonstop
To me there is just not a point right now. I am not saying I won't be back, I am just saying when the game is not fun for me(as it was at beginning of AOS, when you could be killed by any dexer with a double axe and painspike, or any necro with a lance) I need to do something else for awhile. DFO looks like something new, and I have heard good things. I've played AoC, WoW, etc, so I figure I will give this a shot. Both of my accounts just ran out of game time, and I put my SS's into my bank, so my houses may fall. Most of you know where they are. One has about 10-15m in stuff, the other maybe 40m+. Enjoy, depending on if I reactivate or not.
