Well it sucks that I get home on break from work and Origin is down but I will be happy when I get home for the night :D. Artifacts can't be imbued anymore? That is lame and pointless if they are under 500 weight anyway :(

Maybe, one day, their QC or their editors will realize there is no ORIGINS...but there is an ORIGIN shard.

Until then, I am still questioning the shard that is getting the patch.

A few comments regarding the gypsy camp modifications as implemented today on Origin:

  • As noticed last week on TC1, the tents are still spawning with a wooden chest inside that cannot be accessed. As Crysta pointed out elsewhere, this is probably a result of how the old tent code was reinstated and probably isn't a "bug" per se.
  • So far, the only unusual stuff I've seen spawning in the chests have been large quantities of regs or old-style gems, e.g., 93 sulphurous ash, 72 amethyst, 85 daemon blood, 111 black pearl, 104 pig iron. These big piles of regs or gems only seem to occur about every 15-20 chests. Didn't really keep track of the frequency, but those amounts were definitely not popping up in every chest or camp.
  • The gold seems to be in line with what it was before the change, i.e., 130-150 gp in the lower-level chests and about 300 gp in the next higher level of chests. Bolt and arrow numbers don't seem to have changed.
  • The loot quality in the higher level chests hasn't been any better than what I saw a few weeks ago picking these same chests or what I see in these chests in the dungeons. (The lower-level chests often have no loot at all, just a pile of gold.) Have yet to find anything extra-special. Haven't seen a "check" yet either.
  • Occasionally a tent spawns with only one pickable container. However, most of the time there are two pickable containers, one of which may be a keg, barrel, or crate instead of a chest.

Will post later if I come across anything different than posted above.

Edit: Just came across more gypsy camps with NO pickable containers. The first location might not have had chests because the tent spawned on a point of land and the chest container locations would have been in the water. 105o 7'S 56o 2'E. This second location (100o 22'S 55o 3'E) has water on one side but plenty of land on the other 3 sides, but no pickable chests. And a third location with three sides on land and one near water and with no pickable chests (97o 33'S 56o 36'E).

Edited to add the following examples of loot from the gypsy camp chests. I don't know if luck affects the quality of chest loot. My lockpick character that retrieved these items this afternoon on Origin only has 104 luck.

  • Large battle axe w/spell channeling, 60% life leech, -1 FC.
  • Sledge hammer with 5% HCI.
  • Two handed axe with 8% HCI and 20% SSI.
  • Crescent blade with 34% stam leech, 33 luck.
  • Short speer with 14% DI.
  • Composite bow with spell channeling, 32% hit dispel, 18% mana leech, 4% HCI, -1 FC.
  • Kryss with 18% stam leech, 10% life leech, 14% HCI, 25% SSI.
  • Two handed axe with spell channeling, -1 FC, 14% DI, 6% fire resist.
  • Pike with spell channeling, 12% stam leech, -1 FC, 10% SSI.
  • Bone harvester with 10% SSI.
  • Buckler with spell channeling, self repair 3, RPD 6%, DCI 9%, -1 FC.
  • Bronze shield with 50% durability.
  • Bronze shield with self repair 3, 4% RPD, 5% DCI, 1 FC.
  • Ringmail sleeves with 5% LRC.
  • Leather gloves with 3 mana increase.
  • Chainmail leggings with 1 hit point increase, MR 1, night sight, 37 luck.
  • Studded tunic with self repair 1, mana increase 3, MR 1, 2/16/3/11/4 resists.
  • Leather gorget with hit point increase 1, SR 1, night sight.
  • Leather shorts with 6% LRC, resists of 2/4/14/13/9.
  • Platemail gorget with 1 hit point increase, 2% LMC, mage armor.
  • Bracelet with 11 animal lore, 4% DCI, 3% LMC, 8% DI, 4% energy.
  • Bracelet with 10% EP, 9% HCI, 5% poison, 10% energy.
  • Ring with dex 2, intel 4, 20% EP, 9% physical, 4% energy.

Yeah...scratching my head on this change also.
What happens to all the artifacts that are already enhanced?
Are people going to complain about overpowered items that can no longer be made and get things deleted?
Are only items that have an artifact rarity number considered artifacts?

I wish we would get more information on this... :sad4:

This change also makes a lot of Marty's completely worthless. The one's that aren't instant Relics that is.

If this change sticks around, they should make all Marty's turn into Relics.

Either way this takes away a lot of fun for no good reason. It's not like you could Imbue above the intensity cap anyway.... -_-

I just tried on Origin to imbue a Pixie Swatter and got the message "You cannot imbue this item." Same for an Arctic Death Dealer.

I was able to unravel the Arctic Death Dealer for enchanted essence, however. Not going to try with the Pixie Swatter as it's the only one I have. LOL

I'm not even 90 imbuing yet. I was looking forward to imbuing a couple of junk marties.... by the end of the year at my rate.
If anything, they should've made some of the brand new arties non imbuable, but leave the old marties to be imbuable.

* Fey Slayer


Not that I have a problem with implementing Fey weapons, but considering how much quicker archers mow down the oaks spawn than most other players, this will unfortunately make it worse. The 'Fey Slayer' weapon while great for melee, has draw backs that balance it's abilities. On the other hand, this bow not only has powerful specs, but has no draw backs (it's fast, no area damage, and even great f***in mods). I use an archer and I think they're great, but I do believe this weapon should be re-evaluated.

One thing I noticed w/ composite is when velocity hits, armor ignore damage doesn't work, so for PvM the hit velocity and probs the hit spell will reduce some of the output on bosses, but yeah, it is a pretty tight bow. I wonder if it works against reaper form too, haha.

I need to find out how to get the spellbook version :p

No joke. If they're going to implement this high-calibur of an extremely rationed slayer type, they may want to consider creating alternative weapons for all classes that are thoroughly balanced. I love that bow, but even I would consider it to be too much. Part of me wants it, the other part hopes it's an april fools joke :rant2:

I tried to do some research on this. I have a few suits that use a standard imbed crafted artifact as a standard piece. If this change was going to affect that I was going to be in trouble.

So here is what I did... I tried the following (with result):

Ornate Crown of the Harrower [Doom Artifact]
- On Test Center cannot imbue
- On Atlantic as of now you can imbue

Djinni's Ring [Replica]
- On Test Center you can imbue
- On Atlantic you can imbue

Essence of Battle [Crafted Artifact]
- On Test Center you can imbue
- On Origin you can imbue
- On Atlantic you can imbue

Assuming Test Center and Origin are now the same then it looks like the change only affected true artifacts. It doesn't appear to affect crafted arties (such as the Essence of Battle) or the replicas. Of course this is a limited test, but it is what I was able to try out. I don't have any replicas or Doom arties on Origin to try. I do have an Essence of Battle on Origin and yes I can still imbue that. Good deal too... I use that on all my Sampire suits.

So I guess I have to imbue that Ornate Crown of the Harrower on Atlantic before this goes live. Hmmm... what to put on it. Decisions decision...

Actually Tina, you tested 2 non-replica artifacts. Do you have a replica that you can test please?
I bought a Fang of Ractus [Replica] that was on a Luna vendor and used the imbuing skill on it. I was able to get the Imbuing gump to come up, but when I try to find out if I can imbue it with any property (even one it already has), I just get the message the I can't imbue the item with any more item properties. (It has Hit Poison Area 20%; Spell Channeling; 5% HCI; 5% DCI; 35% DI; and 15% Poison Resist.)

Can you suggest any other replicas that might not give that message when you try to imbue them? I doubt I can get my hands on any of them, but perhaps someone else on Origin will check this thread and be able to test for you.

Whats good to imbue on a Djinni's Ring? :)
Well that depends on what you need on your suit, but I like something like this:

2 FC (280)
2 FCR (80)
5 SDI (42)
2 INT (28)
5 LMC (69)

Even though it is non-exceptional, because it is a ring it has a max imbuing intensity of 500. You can fit 2 FC/3 FCR but it leaves almost no room left. You could also go 2 FC/2 FCR and get +5 Magery and a very small amount of SDI & INT. You can get +15 Magery on your bracelet and then use a -20 Mage weapon without using the Alchemy Talisman. You could instead use a Totem of the Void. Anyways, lots of options.

Do note that the imbued replica has a max durability of 150/150 both before and after imbue.

I have to say I'm impressed with the amount of work that's gone into this publish. There's a lot of good stuff in it especially that a decent amount of attention was directed to the EC.

I would have went for 10 LRC but can only do 9, which sucks, but for me, I went for it like this, isn't that hot? thanks to Shelra or else I wouldn't even be able to tinker with the ring:

I'm not sure if this is something new or not, but I believe this is the first looted non-gargoyle ring I've seen with Throwing skill on it. Just got it from a fire daemon on Origin.



And I'm guessing stuff like the bracelet below will eventually someday be a "rare" item, if EA doesn't somehow retroactively fix it. (Gargoyle's can't use Archery skill.) Guess I'll have to remember which shard I have it on and where I put it. LOL

For cripes sakes.... give us a break.... you know what super stinks.... not being able to modify all the good crap to go on your gargoyle...

Because when that first started you could modify arties..... now you can't... so now you could imbue arties and now you can't..... what a bunch of BS.

We definitely, at the very very least, need to know why you are taking away the ability to Imbue Artifacts.

I can think of no rational reason off-hand.

In the age of Faction Artifacts and property caps, the concept of an "overpowered Artifact" has really lost its meaning.

So it can't possibly be "these items were overpowered," can it? Is any Imbued Artifact more powerful than, say, an Ornament of the Magician with 3 Mana Regeneration, or Stormgrip with 10 Hit Chance Increase?

Picture of Renowned Fire Daemon loot on Origin tonight:



Included in the loot were an ecru citrine, 1028 gold, an exorcism scroll, a vengeful spirit scroll, and miscellaneous other loot not really worth mentioning. The ring was the best loot in the corpse. My tamer has a lowly 680 luck, so I'm sure others will see better stuff.

And sorry if I'm posting too much. Didn't really see anyone post about this specific subject earlier before this publish hit Origin. I'll try to post more examples if possible. Using an untrained cu sidhe to do this and she's mighty slow at killing stuff. Have not noticed that the monsters at this particular mini-champ spawn have changed at all in their stats/skills. So hopefully the loot got a bump but the monsters didn't. :)

Can't get to the renowned goblin mage because it's stuck.....will have to try it later.

I see that monsters in the Passage of Tears mini champ spawn on Origin tonight are still dropping peerless keys....

Devs: If I want fire rubies I'll go mine. Relic fragments would be better on renowned monsters (we're meant to only obtain relics via loot yes? no?)

I unraveled one of mpixie swatters and got a relic fragment

also killed the clan ribbon chief rat got 2800 gold a turquoise and the loot unraveled into 14 essence and 10 residue.

Loot from an ancient lich (renowned): 979 gold, 1 parasitic plant, 5 types of necro regs in varying quantities, 3 gargoyle type shields, 1 talwar, 1 gargish leather kilt, 1 glass sword, 1 tattered remnant of an ancient scroll. The loot items were not worth keeping.
