Cu Sidhe refuses to walk

Hello all,

I experience a problem with a Cu Sidhe (haven't had that issue with other pets yet). Sometimes it happens that when I command the pet to attack a creature, it is correctly flagged as an agressor, but refuses to walk to the target. It is just standing there, waiting for the target to walk next to it. This bug won't disappear until I stable the pet.

Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?

Thanks!

Did the pet disobey you? Oftentimes when a pet disobeys my commands, it just stands there. If so, feed it and command it again.

This bug definitely happens. It used to be used by AFK resource farmers.

I also find that my stupid dragon often gets stuck on the floor, door, stairs, whatever so that he tries to fly to me if I move 2 spaces away, until I relog.

Bugs. What can you do about them?

It is a known issue, but I don't remember what causes it.

Three things to try.
1. Feeding it (I don't think this works, but I never have apples with me, so can't tell you for sure)
2. Mounting and dismounting (again, not sure if it works, haven't tested it. But I heard...)
3. Logging out and back in. This is my chosen solution since it works 100% of the time and for any pet who just stands after being commanded (it happened to my pair of bake kitsune just yesterday).

It's an annoying problem for sure, especially since it only happens when you're too busy to be troubleshooting the problem (and only seems to happen to me in champ spawns).

I tend to feed a pet if it sticks and so far *touches wood* that's fixed it just fine.

No, the pet does not disobey (as I said, it attacks the creature). Feeding it and mounting/dismounting doesn't help either. The only thing that helps is logging out and in.

I've always just played through it. I find that if your pet won't go to your target, your target will go to your pet...

My understanding of this is that the pet is for what ever reason stuck off axis. so when the pet tries to path find to the target it cannot so therefore stays put. Under the old system magic using pets would teleport to target and inadvertantly fix the issue. since they have disabled this it has become more of a problem.

couple things I have found to work:

1. try mounting another pet/ethy while near the affected pet. the screen refresh will sometimes cause the affected pet to drop back to the correct axis leval.

2. tell the pet to come rather than follow you. the different AI it invokes sometimes allows the pet to step off to the correct axis. (I find this works best in the case of a dead pet that gives you the cannot res message)

3. feeding will usually work as well so at a loss here why it is not working for you.

let us know if these steps work for you

have you tried releasing and re-taming/bonding? seems extreme, but if you run out of options it might be worth it

I think the problem is as Uthar suggested, i.e., the pet is off its axis. Or, in some cases, perhaps it is your tamer character that is at a different elevation than the monster you want your pet to attack? I'm sure you've seen the message about your pet not being able to attack something because it can't see the monster, when the reality is your pet is standing right next to it and it is your character that can't "see" the monster.

In situations like this and when feeding the pet didn't help or I don't have food for it, I will often tell the pet to stop and follow my tamer and then move the tamer around until the pet is able to move from where it seems to be stuck. Then we try attacking the monster again.

Don't forget too that if your cu is attacking something that can "fly" or raise its elevation, such as a dragon or demon, you're not going to make much progress in attacking the dragon until you get its feet planted back on the ground again. In extreme cases, it's probably best to just drag your pet out to a more level area, hope the monster follows, and start the fight again. Get away from the hills, ledges, and other structures that the monster is using as a launching pad.

they dont move. i killed some recently in ilsh for the spellweaving quest and you can just drop a wall of flame on them and sit back while they roast

Didn't reapers used to teleport on top of you?
They used to, but that was another a.i. behaviour that was destroyed when they "fixed" the problem with mobs teleporting into houses...

That does remind me of another way I've fixed the problem in the past.

Switching servers (i.e. walk through a moongate) has also had a 100% success rate for when I would have that problem on a regular basis.

On the topic of axis faults, it does only happen in uneven terrain, i.e. at champion spawns, so that could have something to do with it (and is also why I always use log out/in as a solution... walking out from champ spawns is rarely an option, but walking to the edge and relogging works well).
