Sorry this is a bit long...
Mainly a pvp guild, but we do peerless and gather ingreds together in the abyss sometimes.
No guild bank, like some guilds have them.
Champ spawns... 120s.. if nobody needs it for building a char, they may get it. If more than 1 person needs it, they roll the dice. If everyone just wants it to sell... we roll the dice.
Everyone in our guild knows "whats fair" and if they showed up at the end of the spawn and helped with the last half of the champ, then they don't usually participate in rolling. (we use protection, btw, so these are the protector's 120s). If that person needs a 120 to complete a char then they might get a chance to roll for it.
Peerless... If we decide to do a big run on Mel, for example, than everyone gets a key (usually do mel, get a key, do mel again, get a key). We don't get the key on our own... plenty of people there to help you if you're struggling. We split the loot according to who's key we're on... they get the good loot, dyes and whatnot.
As far as pvm hunting (abyss) then it's whoever has looting rights. We don't split loot on this, thats just silly (haha, lol). We work together in this as far as resses and keeping each other alive.
That's it as far as loot. As for the second half...
It's more like a co-op than anything as far as resources. The gm doesn't regulate how someone might get something. If you decide to make a deal with someone in the guild, it's between the two of you. I'm sure any problems would be taken to one of the GMs, but in my 10 months in this guild, I haven't ever heard of anyone with a problem pertaining to this. Usually a problem with inordinate amounts of pots going missing from one of the pvp houses, but thats different.
We offer each other a reduced rate on SOTs if they need them and we have them. If you have a pendant of the magi and someone needs it, you're perfectly allowed to sell it to them. Usually the thinking is, if I sell it to them cheap, maybe when they have something they'll sell it to me cheap (not "cheap" but at a cut in price).
I got something, and I know so and so can use it and I can't use it, so maybe I'll give it to them. Maybe I'll sell it to them at a severely reduced rate, because I could use some money.
No-one ever runs out of insurance money unless they're being silly and not asking for a bit of help.
You don't
have to give the 5mil leather you found at the idoc to one of the main crafters in the guild who helped you build your imbued pvp suit for free, and if you want to sell it you can. But... It would be the right thing to do and our members (my guildies) seem to understand this concept. Even the 12yr old who managed to sneak in understands it.
You aren't forced by anyone or "expected to by common consensus of acceptable behavior" to give something to someone else in the guild, and that's the great thing about it. Most people in our guild are either mature enough to understand "if I help someone, I can get help in return" and if they don't know it when joining, then they learn it quick enough.
It has a lot to do with being mainly pvp... you're only as strong as your weakest member, so it behooves you to help people when you can.
As far as someone just taking and taking and taking... again, I haven't ever heard even a whisper of a problem with this, but the GMs aren't dumb and I'm sure they could handle it.
Some people help in ways that don't have anything to do with resources. They might help someone learn and practice pvp, for example. They might offer tips in training. They may have found a really good idoc that there's a chance everyone could benefit from, etc.
That's my understanding of it, anyway
