Can a "Use Best Weapon" Weapon be used for training Throwing?

Can a "Use Best Weapon" Hatchet-Weapon be used for training Throwing?

(and if so.. do i have to be a Gargoyle in order to train Throwing?)

I know this much is true. Throwing is a garg only skill. Dunno if a hatchet would work, but I'm thinking no, since it's not a garg weapon. Gargs can only use garg weapons as far as I know.

I am a macer, with a UBWS leafblade, and when I swing the leafblade I gain Macing skill.

The fly in the ointment is that UBWS may or may not work with Ranged weapons. It's not supposed to... and if it does, nobody will admit it ;)
