And, I would like to add, I was on Baja attempting to start a new char to jack Bajas event items like Baja is doing to us on Pacific, when I saw Messana appear at Luna Bank, and I requested that spellweaving spells be added to NPCs for sale, because I was having a hard time getting them on my newb.
Her response was: "Make them?" Not in a mean way, no, but I caused me to question the point of a dev team playing UO.
Any real UO player knows you can not 'make' a spell unless you have the spell already in your possession, which if I had the spell already I wouldn't need to 'make' it.
Not to mention needing the inscription skill which isn't part of my character's template.
I came to Baja with impure intentions so I'd like to roleplay a spy-like character (event item ninja from Pac!) without requesting help from Baja residents, if you can understand that. So I did not request someone sell me spellweaving scrolls in chat.
Not being able to buy spellweaving scrolls from an npc vendor (I checked player vendors many times and found only four on Tram Ice Island) is a damned nuisance and as a seven year vet it almost caused me to want to give up my mission of event ninjaing, I can imagine how a new player might feel after a day or two of searching for spell scrolls of ANY kind and coming up empty handed. (I know many of the mage spells are sold in mageries already).
It makes me wonder what else these incognito devs playing Baja DON'T KNOW and HAVEN'T LEARNED about being a newb in UO. Perhaps if one of them has spellweaving as a skill they simply created a full spellweaving book? If so, naughty, naughty!
For my newb on Baja at least the Devs playing UO experience is a failure, but yes, the merchants, rares collectors, gold sellers and brokers of Baja seem to be benefiting. (UO's Super Nerd who knows the price of every single thing ever created in UO resides on Baja.)
It's fairly ironic that I came to Baja from Pac to try to get some of Baja's event items as revenge for Baja people dropping in just for Pac event items and the first thing I hear in Baja general chat is UO Super Nerd Price Guy saying "The trick is keeping it on Baja".
Yeah...
