Anyone who knows anything about business would know any 1 issue won't fix the financial problems of a company the size of EA's

So the "solution" would be to inact a number of changes including decreasing prices.

Also simple economics would tell someone that decreased prices could mean increased sales. It makes sense on that level

EA is hundreds of millions in the red and needs to find ways to make money any way it can. Reducing the cost of shard xfer would be one way to facilitate that

I disagree. I don't think it would make any difference if they did lower it the cost as honestly most players who use them buy the for in-game gold and not RL$, and even if lowered, I bet most would still only buy with in-game gold. They need to find other micro-transactions to help facilitate their profit margin.

Yes, I know how sales work.

EA's problems are so well beyond UO that doing this would be trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon.

They're better off working on other matters that might help the company as a whole, not targeting a tiny niche of players in a tiny niche game (as much as I hate to say that) in a niche market.

LoU will go further in helping out EA's financial issues than anything they could do with UOStore prices at this point.

Decreased prices don't always mean increased sales. You can lower your product to way below market and if there are no additional buyers interested it won't accomplish anything. There would have to be a significant amount of players who would buy transfers if they were cheaper to make up the difference in profit and honestly I don't think there is. I think that most people who buy them now, would remain the majority. They might go through more if those players passed on the lower prices in-game sales, but I don't think there would be enough use to make up for the loss of profit of the higher price.

EA needs to diversify what it sells. Would I like to see transfers cheaper? Sure, but right now it wouldn't be good for keeping UO around. EA needs to expand what virtual items/services and non-virtual goods (shirts, etc) they sell.

Somehow this thread is derailing to a totally different level. EA has its problems and all I can say is lowering the price of transfer tokens isn't going to help them one bit.

You usually have the same group of players that attend these events. You loose a few and gain a few back with every one, but you usually see mostly the same group of folks.

This being said, you don't go to the fest to find a bargain. This I can say doesn't ever happen. You will go and possibly find something new that you wouldn't find any other time because I will tell you, about this time before the festivals, items are put away just for this reason. You take your wares to the fest and you can sell these items for double if not more the usual price and you can get that price and you just expect to pay more because of availability that you wouldn't usually have to a certain item.

The rares fest are fun and interesting but don't ever go to find a bargain, it won't happen. So either pay your transfer fees or hitch a ride and learn to trust. That is about all the options you are going to find.

Yes. Its very true, but you can still find some bargains. Unfortunately, there seems to be a habit of other attending collector's buying them and immediately putting them on their vendor for a higher amount which can make finding a bargain more difficult. However, I personally buy items I want that I might not have available on my home shard. Do I pay more than the item is worth? Yes, but its usually only items I have a keen interest in and I'm willing to splurge for. You don't go to the festival to buy and resell on your home shard usually, you go to find what you want for yourself and sell what you no longer are interested in.

I mean, how does that happen in an online multiplayer game ?

Aside from the game, even in life I have seen mistrust all over the place. Married couples, parents and their children, brothers and sisters and blah blah.

I thought that trusting was a veeeeeeeeeeery long process which had to go through many trials and proofs before one could really say that someone is trustworthy.

Now, I faill to understand how that could happen in an online game over some transfers....

Is there some "magic", some special hints about being able to spot trustworthy people from those who are not ?

And how can one get these hints in a virtual game where one cannot even look the other individual in the eyes ?

I mean, really the game cannot offer something better but leaving players to have to take risks about things like these ?

Popps, If I bought you a token to transfer to WOW would you use it? No one is forcing you to do anything; if you want to go to the rare festival go; don't cry because you do not have the resources. Gold is so easy to get, in the time you waste posting replies to everyone that responds to your threads you could have earned enough for 2 transfer tokens.

I haven't posted here in a while , but trust a 12 year player when I say this. I've spent 12 years in different guilds talking to people online and playing with random people just hunting. The people who normally post on this board are the real minority. I would say a large chunk of players who play UO don't know about uo.stratics.com... EA is the sinking ship and is who needs to reach out, not the players who don't know of these forums. Those people can simply buy a blizzard game and go about their business.....

I wouldn't waste my time arguing too much with people with a minority view of the game. You've said your peace and if they don't agree then they don't agree. It's EA that needs to change , not you

That's what I intend on doing - if I can't afford it on LS, I surely won't waste the $$ for a char xfer - but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to look.

It is amazing, no, flabbergasting.....wait, it is shocking !

I mean, I do not know how many times that, when I bring up an issue generally (not always, true, but on a good average) I do NOT bring it up for personal reasons other than see the game bettered.

I have several transfer tokens and gold to spend to buy more if I need.

I am NOT bringing this issue up because I would like to attend the Pacific Festival.

I have characters and gold on Pacific already so, this is not a concern I may voice for my needs.

I am bringing this issue up because I think it would be good for a whole lot of other players less lucky and because I think it would be beneficial to the game.

Now, how many times will I have to repeat this so that I won't have to say it over and over and over again ?

Next time anyone reads a post of mine please, unless I mention that *I* have that problem please do NOT necessarily think that I am bringing an issue up for personal reasons other than bettering the game overall.
