Anyone else remember the official announcement below from almost a year ago (i.e., April 1, 2009)?
Now that we've actually had a chance to explore the Abyss and other aspects of the SA expansion and perhaps paced out the potential housing spots, how much of the above announcement do you believe now was written tongue-in-cheek and which parts of it do you think might actually become reality?
If you actually have the good fortune to win one of these plots for your own use, what would you do with it? Keep it or sell it? Do you think the plots should even be transferable?
Would you leave your Abyssal home private or make it public? If you made it public, would you install an Ankh of Sacrifice to help out fellow players with being able to rez in the Abyss? Would you put up vendors to sell items?
What do you think the rules should be regarding getting to the house...walk in like the rest of the masses, use house teleportation tiles linked to another house if you're lucky enough to be able to acquire such items, or recall/SJ/gate using runes marked in the house?
Should Abyss house owners be allowed to install endless amounts of parrots or use huge amounts of gaza deeds, regardless of any lag problems such items might present to other players?
Should Abyss house owners have total freedom regarding house customization or should they be limited to a pre-fabricated design as were the Malas castle contest winners?
Any guesses on how the developers are going to make it a fair contest for all players to try to acquire one of these units? If the contest is directed at accounts versus actually doing something in the game, what do you think the devs should do about picking a cut-off date for determining who is included and publicizing such date? If you have to do something in the game, should you be allowed to participate on multiple shards and if yes, what happens if you win on multiple shards? Should any types of accounts be excluded from consideration for the housing units (e.g., haven't purchased the expansion)?
