Cannon going poof when trying to re-deed

I have just about finished decorating a keep for a friend who recently came back after quitting playing some years ago after having his account hacked.

Well we wanted to move the cannon and axed it to re-deed it. The front part of the cannon went poof. He paged a GM and was told to submit the info via email. He took a screen-shot to show what the broken cannon looked like and also asked the GM to at least please come look at it. After a few minutes a GM did come and suggested that he axe the other part to see if it would re-deed. It didn't. So its back to sending an email asking for help.

My question is, has anyone had their cannon replaced when this has happened to them?

Thanks,
Amber Witch

Ouch... I'm sorry for the loss.

What an ignorant GM too. You'd think they would know that if one side of a deeded item has poofed, then axing other side won't make the deed magically reappear. Ever.

To answer your question... and hopefully someone will have something different to say about this....

I haven't ever heard of or personally had (try though I might) a GM replace an item that's been lost in this manner. It's one thing if the item has gone invisible in your bag, or gone underneath your house foundation.... but I've seen plenty of threads on these forums about people who have lost items in the manner you're speaking of and not had them replaced (Codex of Virtue, anyone?) Since it was already broken when the GM showed up to help you fix it, they probably won't replace it due to GM incompetence either. Then again, if the GM hadn't told you to axe it, you may have been able to just keep the one side of the cannon as an oddity.

It never hurts to try (getting a replacement), but I wouldn't get your hopes up. :(

Hello,

One of the main issues you have with Deeded 'multi sectional' items is ensuring they all the pieces and are at the same level when redeeding.

What I mean by this is, if like me, you place deeded items on raise Goza etc - Due to system glitches, parts of the 'Sectional' items can sometimes fall out of line. Any deeded 'sectional' items which has parts that have dropped - if you axe it to redeed it, you will destroy the piece you target (just like you do when make tiled floor out of pentagrams).

That is why I have got into the habbit that when ever I go to redeed an item I ALWAYS use the decoration tool on it and lower ALL pieces as low as they can go before attempting to redeed it.

If the Cannon was raised for deco purpoese at the time, then unfortunately it is gone and it is not necessarily a issue that the GM can help with - It's just bad luck. I have lost a number of items over the years due to this issue including my very first Castle Mini House deed.

Thanks Mezz

Yes, I've managed to do that a time or two. It wasn't the case this time though. No goza mats were used. But now that you mentioned it I may have raised it with the deco tool. That could be the case.

Thanks for the input.
