Why do Tailor BODs suck so bad compaired to Smith ones?

So i started collecting and doing bods. both of my skills are 120.
it seems i get so many JUNK tailor bods. ive collected about 90 or so and not one large one yet that will make a bless deed or a barbed kit. all i get is a bunch of colored cloth and a few sandals.

it seems all the large tailor ones i get give only the stretched hides or the +5 or +10 scrolls.

in this same amount of time i have about 50 POF, and about 30 or so of shadow and dull copper hammers.. a few copper ones and one bronze one.

it seems tailors got the short end of the BOD system?

most people would say the smith BODs suck more.

Tailor BODs:
The larges for the good rewards are many times more common than the ones for the equivalent smith hammers.
The cloth BODs are easily fillable as smalls to turn in to get more BODs, plus there are no BODs in tailoring that don't have at least one corresponding large.
Clothing Bless Deeds from the large normal 20 cloth BODs are worth several times more than POF or a colored anvil (which are the most valuable items lower than a gold hammer for a smith).

Smith BODs:
Half the BODs are weapons, and there's only 4 weapon larges that give Powder (the only reward that drops consistently, below bronze hammers, worth anything. The colored anvils are nice, but are 10% chances from specific 15-count armor larges and some higher-end smalls)
11/24 of the other 50% (shields, female plate, and most helm types) don't combine with larges AT ALL. If you're lucky, they might have a chance for a bronze hammer or POF.

The rather brutal math on the subject is spread over several threads in the Craftsman forum.

is there a list somewhere of smalls to not turn in to hope for a large to come someday?

im trying to figure it all out but its kind of confusing.
i see that some larges arent worth filling, not sure what smalls to keep or turn in.

I would like to see more Tailor large bods by comparison to small ones and more smith small ones by comparison to large ones, cause i have hundreds of small tailor bods and only a few large ones and way more smith large ones than i can fill with the few small ones.

My only request concerning BODs is to have a greater chance at POF for smiths, and POF as a reward option for tailors. POF prices have skyrocketed due to imbuing. Last time I checked on Atlantic, POF was going for about 240K per bottle. Pre-imbuing it was about 50K-60K.

That is good. Demand increases price. We Bod crafters need to make up the loss of high end runic hammers somewhere. We used to be able to sell and craft items with our blacksmith and tailors. now all is imbuing. Think of it of supporting your shard blacksmiths and tailors.

it would be nice to get pof for tailors. they do need it also.
maybe even more since my tailor makes items at 35 durability..

I have a character who is a smith. He is my second character and existed before Trammel. I have been doing bods from the start till now with about a year off near the begining when I realized dull copper runics were more valuable to smelt into ingots then to use. I still have nothing better than a bronze runic. My tailor has been around since the sixth character slot was allowed and I have a barbed runic. So put me down for smithing BODS suck.

Have you being doing it right? Doesn't sound to accurate. Don't you have a collection?

I don't think they suck in comparison. Granted, smithing offers more *usable* rewards for small bods, but by the same token, smithing itself is, atm, a pointless skill. The only real advantage of doing smith bods is PoF.

Sure, it's nice to make an uber plate suit, but people want 100% medable gear - something that takes a property slot with metal armor, but doesn't on leather.

It's also FAR easier to gather a desired tailoring resource than it is an equiv smithing resource - It takes little to no effort to gather 1k regular, spined or horned leather - I'd venture to say it could be done in 20 minutes or less. The same cannot be said for any ore above dull copper...

So I'd much rather cycle 1k cloth bods in the hopes of getting a CBD or Runic, with a guarantee of a reward I can generally use right then and there, vs cycling 1000 smith bods, where I know 75% of my return will be weapons, the majority of which will be normal.

I'd personally much rather have 100 cloth than I would yet another prospectors tool or another pair of mining gloves.

I have a collection. I'm really not sure where you come up with this idea that tailoring bods are worse than smithing. If you ask the crafters most will agree with me that it's way easier to get a barbed runic than a valorite runic or any of the high end smithing runics. I'll make a guess that you have lot's of gold to spend buying all your crafting resources. It may have somewhat to do with the ease of harvesting resources. If you want valorite ingots and you have none it's going to take you a while to find them. If you want barbed leather there is a ready source of it waiting in destard or elsewhere. You only have 4 different resources to deal with in tailoring but in smithing there are 9 so 9 different sets for each type of BOD. In my case I only play an hour a day at the most generally so I am a bit slower to get the bods than most.

Talking to me or OP? I never said any are worst. I do have a few secures filled with gold runics and higher. More pof than I can keep in my home.
To get bods you just need to log in a few minutes each hour for one day with each of your characters to build up your collection. That should be enough to just get enough bods to craft and turn in and craft and turn in and repeat till you can save the rest of your collection. Doesn't take long at all. Just building the collection takes time. In that case just buy a couple 500 bod junk books to speed the collection process up. Sadly my whole collection is a waste. When I can't craft anything worth it or let alone sell it for what it used to be worth for the effort because of imbuing. So it takes up space.

You can't just fill bods. You have to get resources. That takes time. I also have limited storage space so I toss a lot of bods. You can imbue whatever you make smithing.

Not so much. The bods that are the most you never need to mine for them and that's iron or just buy out the non exceptional items from npc. Though I rather just grab 60k for $750k or less on atlantic. The gold you get back from the bods almost make up the cost some. I never really need that cause I mined for years and anything I don't have I can just grab from my alliance.

You can't imbue gold and above hammers reliably. They are almost always above the intesity range. This is why they are so cheap now while bronze hammers are 500k and above.

Never ever toss out bods that is a sin!!! You will never get anywhere if you toss out bods. BASARA,Connor, anybody come in here and talk some sense to him he tosses out bods!!!. Use the venders!! Well unless it's useless larges then you can toss those out :)

Basara gives people like me the bods she doesn't want. I have to gather resources to do bods. Give me the ingots and I will fill them all.

Well, that would be good except I use all of my POF myself to support my imbuing addiction. Oh well...

Are you on atlantic. I'll pass you 120k iron ingots that should help you turn in the junk bods for better bods.

No one cared about them before thats why they were cheap. Now everyone wants them and it's hard to keep up with stock. But this is a good thing for those of us that dedicate ourselves to bods. We being at it for years. You will have to enjoy doing this in the game to be dedicated like this. So we prefer to offer the service like we used to with items. But now that everyone can do imbuing with only a few moments of there time it put the dedicated crafters out of business. We are just trying to hold on to what we have left before they make things so easy that everyone with a few minutes of there time can get all they want with out any of us who are dedicated to this part of the game help.

It's sad. Now I know what the UO thieve and Detective class went through.

Even the "useless" larges have a small market for them. I put any bods that I won't fill myself on a vendor and sell them for a nominal price and usually sell out pretty fast. Junk iron small bods are my bread and butter. I fill those to get the bods that I do want to keep as they are cheap to fill and pretty much pay for themselves.

i mainly focus on the smith bods. i use a lot of pof for imbuing things for people. i like the low end hammers to craft weapons with properties that need relics and imbue the rest.

i'm not sure i'd agree that high end hammers are useless. you can still craft god with a val hammer and get intensities you cannot get with imbuing, particularly sleeves and mempos.

Depends what you call useless bods. The useless ones I consider are any larges that give gloves, pickaxe, and gargoyle without a chance of pof. Or any larges that give 105-115 smith scroll but the smalls give pof or a low end hammer. Im surprise people actually would buy these larges.

Do I play my character Mylene that well, that people think I'm female?
:sad2:

Then again, with 25 years of game-mastering experience, I've had to play female NPCs so often for mostly male gaming groups (and later, female characters in other people's games, to break the tedium of playing musclebound rockheads, or mages geekier than I am) that one of my players' nieces started referring to me as "Aunt Stanley". By the time they were old enough for me to try to bend them over my knee and spank them, without going to jail for improper contact with a minor, they'd already got married, and then I was too afraid of the husbands to do it.

At least on LA, it seems like 90%+ of the BODs I get are for leather. And yet the tailor gives me cloth sometimes in return, which I can never apply to other BODs since all I get are leather BODs...
