You're right, but you're also wrong. You are correct that before faction artifacts, the only guilds to actively pvp were pretty much the current main pvp guilds/players. For lack of a better term, I'm just going to call you guys the 'pvp elitists'. But look even further back, to when non-pvp elitists took part in pvp. Remember the days when CWS, C8V, Orc, Und, KSS, KGB, VMP, LDH, KRT, B*M, MOM, and many many other non-pvp elitists used to pvp?
Now I ask you, when did the non-pvp elitists stop pvp'ing? Around 2006, and what happened around 2006, the cursed artifacts. Yes, prior to faction arties, you factioners ran around in cursed arties. Due to the hero/evil faction dye, cursed arties were almost the same as faction arties. Get a orny, evil faction dye it, you've just guaranteed that only you or your faction-mates (or the other evil faction) can only ever use your gear. You could never find non-hero/evil dyed cursed gear for sale.
And what would happen if a non-factioner went out and pvp'ed with regular cursed arties? The second we'd die, you'd loot us, dye our items, and we'd never again be able to pvp with them.
As much as you want to admit it or not, factions have always had the ability to keep and retain the best gear for themselves, and it IS this ability that has destroyed pvp for the masses and restricted it to you 'pvp elitists'.
At least with an ongoing cursed arty drop, if I die, lose my orny to a faction member, they loot it and dye it, I can still go out there and farm a new one.
Once you allow casual and active pvp'ers to pvp on the same playing field, you'll see a lot more pvp'ers out there. Remember, on prodo shards the entire purpose of faction arties was to allow casual and active pvp'ers a chance to pvp without having to buy a 200 mil gold suit, did it work? Faction arties would have a much different effect on Siege where people can't go out and run the same suits as prodo's can that are non-faction arties. The problem is, it's probably too ****ing late since you've already driven off virtually all the casual pvp'ers out there, except for maybe 5.
