An idea for a reward or maybe buyable token

You know it all - if you have a house full with stuff:
You know, that ring with 15 animal taming, FC1 and so on is somewhere, but where? In a chest in your house, in the bank box of one of the characters, or on a character itself?
Now it can take only hours to find that item - or you give up frustrated.
What about an account bound personal servant, house keeper, name it how you want, working just like the herald, but offers usefull service?
Ask him Taming ring, and he lists all rings of Animal taming in your chars posession. If it is in the house, you can pick it directly from the list just like a BOD, if it is in the bank or on another char, you get the information.
Thats definitively something, which would increase the fun in the game, instead of wasting a lot of time with all the search and sort stuff.

A friend just misplaced the only obsidian shield she had, that finally brought up the idea.

How do you "keep" this servant? Can i re-deed him?
Will it take up pet slot?
I assume he has to follow you to help you find stuff similar to personal attendant? or he will just stand at 1 spot similar to vendor?
Can he search stuffs on all levels at 1 time?

The idea has merit, for sure. His gump can look just like a BoD window, with a "drop" arrow next to each item. Filters just like BoD gumps can be reworked and named.

Very cool idea.

And yes, placed in one spot only. Limited (if any) customisation options. Can be re-deeded. Maybe on a (x) day timer.

Instead of the limited options of BOD books, which would not fit to the amount of various items in our world, I would prefer a fulltext search engine allowing up to 3, 4, 5 concatenated words or numbers.
Like:
taming ring >12
would filter for rings which have taming in one of its properties and a number > 12 in the properties (which must not be animal taming).

Ahh, much like the serach functions on Auction Houses in games like Vanguard, and WoW. Full word search engine.

Might struggle with such in UO. BoD gumps would work, quite easily.

Jewelry > Bracelet or Ring or Misc
Armor > Same gump options as BoD except add in Ring, Chain and Plate
Weapons > Add all types of weapons.
Resources > Wood or Ingot or Reagent etc

Each selection could bring up a new window, advancing one step further in the search.

I agree with you, lets get that down first.

What Im saying is I dont think such a system can be coded into UO. Its 10+ years of old band-aid code. I think your idea is feasible, just not the design.

Yea since like 2006 LOL... They talked about adding Jewelry Boxes to game at EA Redwood City Meet up March 2nd 2006. Said they would act like bod books. 2+ years later and still waiting

I need lockdowns ... last week about 1/3 of the weapons and armor went into the trash; last night 1/2 of the jewelry went. at least now I have enough lockdowns to deco.

I threw out boxes of Valentines stuff and X mas stuff beginning of the year ...now i am hating myself for it heh ....throwing out is bad !!!!
