What is less painful?

What is the best option - fighting Medusa without gorgon lens or fighting with the gorgon lens, but having to hunt in the Prism of Light for broken crystals to make the gorgon lens? Buying the gorgon lens is not an option as they are rarely found for sale on my shard.

If with a group, how many are there?

Fighter can do it without lenses *only* if there's a large group.
You'll never want to do it without lenses Solo.
Ranged and Summons can usually get by without.

It doesnt take long and the demons in the first room of the prism are easy and nearly all have a crystal on them. Also if you have a stealther just grab a flut go down get some eggs and go into medusa. You can stealth up to her and just stand there skinning her till she has non left [about 12-15] and rinse and repeat

This is a small group of warriors. The charges on the gorgon lens ran out during one of the fights and it sucked. So I guess I've made up my mind to hunt for the broken crystals.

So can any of the crystals be used for the gorgon lens? I'm kicking myself now because I was hunting the unfrozen mummies for broken crystals. They aren't too bad but getting to where they spawn without dying can be tricky.

You use the scales to make the lenses, premortem ones are 100% resist from being turned to stone [bright blue]. Postmortem scales can be used but there not as good.

Any wepon really, i start with radiant so when the minions near me come out i can just wirlwind. Other times iv used a leafblade but theres not much difference in the damage [maybe 1-2 dps].
I have ML/SL/DI/HLA/Hit spell on weps.

*EDIT You can also put the lenses on your gorget aswell as you helm, witch is really handy if you, like me forget to keep checking how many charges are left on your helm

Does the Mage Slayer talisman happen to work on them? I can't remember if those work on Daemons or not. Also, how tough are they? I've never been down there to fight them.

any of the crystals in prism work....ones with timers which r keys or ones without which r for the quest...... both work......and get this.....ancient pottery fragments work too!......i solo medusa all the time and i usually go in with my mempo and glasses with charges.....then i carry an additional gorget or additional scales in with me.....i have soloed her bout 20-30 times and only once did i not have to use additional charges than what was on my glasses and mempo......a sampire with a demon slayer whirlwind weapon in the first room is the easiest way to get the crystals IMO

I didn't know that about the pottery fragments. Damn I've turned a lot of those in for the crap at the museum. That's the last time I do that.

Guys I have solo'd medusa on a sampire many times including after the most recent patch.

A sampire can easily do this and kill the evil twins using momentum strike. I do not use the gorgon lens at all. Just get her in a corner away from all the creatures and wail on her. Just dont make the mistake of using disarm on her. She hits more and harder with wrestling than archery.

If anyone wants to see it done let me know. just stay hidden

Medusa is easy for just about anyone. For sampires, it's easier than Dread Horn, just expect to take some time with the constant stone.

For mages or tamers, just cast blade spirits. They are not turned to stone. Stay off screen and cast your blade spirits on the edge of the screen so you dont get targeted. This takes a long time, but is doable.

Sampire.
You can stand him in the middle of the first room [demons that are 2hit kills] and go make a coffee or what ever and come back 10 mins later, loot all the corpses and off again for 10 mins

As a group of 2 sampires, my boyfriend and I used a total of 4 gorgon lenses. We just started doing this so with practice we probably can kill Medusa faster and save some charges. It takes 12 crystals and 2 Medusa scales to make one lens. Note that a gm tinker has a 70% success rate so it is possible to lose materials if you fail. I have a 28% talisman which is very handy. When you apply the lens, you get a random number of charges. I don't know if there is a max or minimum number of charges you can get.


I'm very happy to know that I can hunt the crystal daemons for the crystals. Thanks everyone for the help.

Just as an odd note earrings can also hold lens charges, i use transparent heart bc they are blessed.

I've noticed if you put the lens on a piece of armor that has damage. ie.. 50/255 you get fewer charges than if you put it on a repaired item... ie 255/255
