Okay ive tried taming these feckers afew times now in different ways.

Ive tried Peace Taming and Nearly killing them (Subdue style) but i alwyas get a massive skill loss on them.

Is it possible to Tame them and for them to still get over GM in their skills? If so.. how in the name of the holy mother mary do you do it?!

Please help.. I dont wanna be the only Legendary Tamer out there still classed as a N00b :((

Ta!
Ommy.

Honor taming works for me. Pull one out of the demon/fire temple and lore it until you get a good one. Helps to have a friend for company, use his dog to kill the lower quality dragons. Helps to have at least 115 taming skill, 120 is much better, even if it is just jewel skill.

Your misunderstanding their post tame skill loss and the skill cap drop. Upon taming they will lose alot of their skills. But they can retrain back to 10% of what their wild skill cap is. So for example a dragon that has 134 pre-tame wrestling, they will have a tamed skill cap of 120. They will drop below gm, you just have to do the work to get the skills back to their new caps. This is true for wrestle, tactics and resist.

It is worth note that magery will drop post tame to its new cap and is unaffected by skill loss. It will not train any higher than what it is post-tame, but can be trained back to that skill level if it should die after bonding.

someone else may better percentages or exact numbers. hope this helps

The exact numbers are :

Skills :

Wrestling, tactics and resisting spells will drop 20% when tamed but can be trained up to 10% of the pre tamed level

Magery will drop 10% when tamed and can't be trained higher.

All other skills will drop and can be raised up to GM (anatomy, eval int, meditation)

Stats :

All but int/mana will drop by half when trained, dex/stam will raise up to 125 when trained.
Str/hp and int/mana will stay at post tamed level

Example :

Wild GD with

str 1800
dex 130
int 600

Wrest 130
tactics 125
resist 125
anat 20

magery 130
Eval int 120
meditation 15

When tamed

str 900
dex 65
int 600

Wrest 104
tactics 100
resist 100
anat 5

magery 117
Eval int 75
meditation 5

Fully trained :

str 900
dex 125
int 600

Wrest 130
tactics 125
resist 125
anat 20

magery 130
Eval int 120
meditation 15

When tamed

str 900
dex 65
int 300

Wrest 117
tactics 112.5
resist 112.5
anat 100

magery 117
Eval int 100
meditation 100

Hope this helps :)

Oh and you can lead tame, area peace or honor self to tame (i would recommend honor self) but never ever paralyze or it would suffer an additional 4% skill loss that you would never gain back !

I don't know about discording it before taming but I wouldn't risk it...

Can someone run down a macro to assist in gaining honor ?? I thought I had it correct in my "All Kill" macro but I only saw the message "increase in honor" once. I think that was while dual retaming some bulls with another tamer and killing them for respawn !! LoL !!

I am peace tamer but am very much in awe of trying to tame one of these guys solo on foot, the honor sounds like the way to go .

Maybe the problem isn't with the macro you're using, remember that gaining honor with a tamer is way harder than with any other char.

You gain less because you're not the one hitting, you don't take damage and you're the first to attack (if you're doing it right)

And as a peace tamer, if you peace the mob before honoring or during the fight : no honor gained
If you invis yourself you could still gain but not if you do it too often during the fight.

If the mob loses even 1 HP before you honor it, nothing gained.
And you have to be very close and visible when honoring the mob or it won't work either.

I found it easier to have a single macro to honor separeted from the "all kill" one.

And don't hope gaining much if you're not fighting at least ogre lords in the first path, WW or artic ogre lords in the second and at half the second you have to go for Succubus or AW or balrons.

good luck :)

I'll try the Balrons then. I am trying with swoop/sphynx and no luck.

Theoretically, you should gain honor all the way to the Knight level from killing greater dragons. You just might die of boredom before you get there, especially if you're doing it with a tamer.

The reason I know this is because there was an "instant virtue" gate on the Retribution shard during the beta. You just had to step through it to instantly become Knight in all the virtues, even some of the ones that have never been finished.

I used up a little bit of honor taming a greater dragon. Then, out of curiosity, I honored another GD and killed it with the one I'd just tamed and got the message that my character had gained in honor.

I think most people just use succubi and balrons so they actually have a chance at making Knight of Honor sometime in their own lifetime.

The only way i have figured out to get the uo-assist macro to work with UO, is to have a UO macro to bring up the (new) targeting gump.
Target-nearest moible.
Do an Honor.
Then all kill.

Do not do this in town or fel. :)
Oh include a wait.

There seems to be a lot misunderstood about honor and there isn't a clear how to writeup. There should be.

There are 3 paths ("levels") in honor. You must complete all 3 to become a knight. However at the 2nd path you have enough functional honor for taming with a bit of luck.

When you honor yourself (ie click honor icon, and target yourself) monsters won't aggro you for a period of time. 3rd path gives you more time than 2nd. Thus its good for corpse retrieval or taming. It uses up some of your honor when you do that, you will see it lose a bubble or so in the gump. That is why after you honor tame something you can gain in it again.

I don't know how fast honor games for non tamers because ive only done it on a tamer but it doesnt seem to be that rough, DESPITE the supposed rules working against us. Take a trained Cu to succubus, there are several spawns, and kill them to gain honor.

As long as you honor the succubus BEFORE it loses any health you will be able to gain honor. If it takes 1 point of damage or BLESSES itself (as casters will do) Honor will not work. If this happens you should BACK OFF AND INVIS. Just let it regenerate to 100% health and then honor it and it WILL work. Not really a problem.

What I do when I honor is I have my Cu guarding me, and then the second I spot a spawn I just go honor it and then back out farther away from the succubus than the cu is. And the cu and succ fight. Sometimes I will invis. I still gain honor.

Stay far enough away the AOE doesnt hit you or the succ will target you and you'll need to heal/invis.

Thats pretty much it, you can use other stuff to gain honor if you like but I just used Succubus and it took a couple sessions. There are succubus spawns in several places not just the Fan Dancer dojo.

Honor Taming is the way to go.

To gain Honor I go to Fel and kill Balarons. My favorite place is the Dungeon in the trathian keep. Just drag all the Ophids into any one of the surrounding rooms, then just Honor the Ballies before you tell your pet to attack.

Simple Macro using Is;
Use Virtue (honor)
Target nearest enemy
Say
(Pet Name) Kill
Target last target

Wala

Try and stay close as when you move you get less Honor, of course you lose some anyways for using your pet but .....

Now to make Knight it will take a bit I have killed up to 30 Ballies to get the last dot of honor.

I choose fel ballies because you gain the most from them but any Sucubus / Ballie Spawn works well.

As for taming a good one just tame a descent one and use it to kill off more and more Greater until you get one you like.
Here are max stats in eah area you can get;
Max
HP 2000
Strength 1425
Dex 140
Int 675
Phy 85
Fire 90
Cold 55
Poison 60
Energy 75
Wrestle 145
Tact 140
Resist 140
Mage 140
now these lead to trained max skills like these;
Max
HP 1000
Strength 712.5
Dex 70
Int 337.5
Phy 85
Fire 90
Cold 55
Poison 60
Energy 75
Wrestle 130.5
Tact 126
Resist 126
Mage 126

Once you get one you like you can beat the tar out of it then, gate out, stable you pet, come back, honor yourself, and tame away.

You dont have to beat them up using honor to tame but if for some reason you dont sucseede before oyur honor runs out you have them a little weaker so they don't eat you right away.

One of the better place i find to tame them is the Fire temple, just drag the crap outside the door and have a good time.

If you are on Atl drop me a line I would be MORE than happy to show you some more places and tricks of the trade.

Re: Honor Taming is the way to go.

Also remember if you use the honor way to tame, make sure nothing is aggro'ing you, if there is, cast invis to break the targetting, either before or after you honor yourself, actually surprising how many people forget that part :D

Re: Honor Taming is the way to go.

I tamed my first last night. I lured him out of the daemon temple, used honor, and got him first try! I only had a couple of bubbles being a follower. I'll be on the lookout for a better one of course.
