Better in game customer service

Would you be will to pay higher subcription rates for better in game support?

I never used in game support, so a big no.

And yes you are over sensitive Jirel.

When I am in game I am to busy playing and not being a busy body like some.

I am not a busy body. As Legend is a very small shard we use the new global chat system to get groups of spellweavers together to do the meditation in the circle, get groups together to do peerless, champs spawns or other group things.

Perhaps I should spend the money to move to a bigger shard like Atlantic. How much would a Castle, keep and two 18x18s cost me over there?

Maybe there could be a special token made available for sale through the UO shop or something which entitles the purchaser's account to have an account bound in-game NPC EA Rep which can be summoned to make sympathetic noises every time the owner complains.

Like event NPC's (e.g., Inu) the special token generated EA NPC could be programmed to respond to key phrases like:-

"too hard"
"harassing"
"kill stealing"
"luring"
"not fair"
"reporting/paging a GM"

and could offer a variety of comforting phrases & emotes in response, such as:-

*hugs*
"There, there, [enter name here]"
"We're working on that"
"Soon"
"Never woulda happened in Draconi's day"

What other phrases might be helpful?

Maybe the platinum version of the token might include a special once per month fast track GM reporting feature.

My sister and I are NOT this guy's only targets.

Miss Nico apparently you are among those players that feel like UO should be the wild, wild west. Everyone can do whatever they wanna do.

Your account got hacked---- too bad get over and build a new account.

Some creep is harassing you in game---so what.

Some guy's standing in the middle of Luna spaming racial slurs--- grow a thick skin.

Some person is foolish enough to name their character Adolf Hitler and their guild The Nazi Party----So let people name whatever they want.

This is the very player attitude that has driven people away from UO over the years. I have had numerous invites to WoW, all with the same comment: players there are a WHOLE lot nicer than UO players. Greeeeeaaat commentary on UO's playerbase isn't it? I have no interest in WoW so I have never give that game a look.

Yet people post in this forum wondering why UO can't get any new players. Maybe we need to take a step back and check our attitudes.

Arrrrr, if ye started on WoW, ye would be postin' on their forums even more than ye does here, about the same issues. Mayhaps ye could even become the next elitemaiden!

Hmmm, this is intresting I understood WoW actually ENFORCED their TOS/ROC. Oh well I won't be trying WoW so it really makes little difference to me. Once UO is dead and gone I will NEVER play another online MMO, period. I'd rather have a root canal WITHOUT the novacaine.

This guy is up to 25 chars of the same name I have tried the ingnore feature-he just makes new characters.
I have paged a GM using the harassment option- I get a message the player you have entered does not exist.

I have called the 1-866 number and was told they do not handle in game issues ; to page a GM.

I used the live chat feature at ea.custhelp.com- They say they will do something. I have very little confindence they will do anything at all.

What do you suggest i do? Perhaps fly out to Virginia or California and speak to customer support in person?

Please enlighten me.

Don't use chat? Move to a new shard? Learn to ignore people? Play a new game? Take a break? Seriously it's nothing personal, but I've been through the harassment thing a couple of times and both times I resolved it on my own. The person(s) who did it were/are pretty much untouchable. Rarely is something done about people like that. I guess I've been through enough difficult times in real life to not worry myself with idiots in game. I certainly don't condone the behavior of people like that, but I have no confidence in anyone "higher up" dealing with them. Which is why I suggested dealing with it on your own.

Throwing more money at EA, which has already been done and failed, for better customer service isn't going to work. And if your pain in the rear is as "special" to in game and board "elites" as my more recent one is, then complaining about it here, calling and paging won't help you, either. Nor did it help the other people they harassed. I would say standing at the bank talking about other players kids (dead and living), calling people pedo's and damning people to hell is harassment beyond the trivial things like remarking runes. And that is the tip of the iceberg.

Why dont we just put the game back down to 9.99 a month. in 5 years I have called a GM 1 time. Besides, we want more players back in the game. If the price went to 20$ a month, I know that would put me out of playing it for sure and there would go 2 accounts.

Nine times out of 10 you are the one that brings these things on yourself. Your constant whining about anything and everything is an irritation to us all. Whenever you don't get your way it is followed with a barrage of complaints and accusations about how cruel the Legends population is and how unfairly you have been treated.

The night you speak of was no different than any other night. You weren't able to obtain an event item on your own so you continually spammed that you would pay 50 mil for someone to give you theirs. The onslaught began when everyone got tired of listening to you beg and cry.

Although it is sad to see those kinds of comments being bellowed out over general chat, you do have the ability to leave the channel. The game has survived for over a decade without global chat and I am sure you will survive if you turn it off.

As for suggestions... well I believe many have said it before and I will say it now. If you hate this shard so much... LEAVE... as you often threaten to do. I have always tried to be polite to you even when I have grown tired of your rants, but it is seriously time for you to move on.

I do NOT favor nor support increasing UO's subscription fee. Past increases provided none of the promised results.

I do favor persistent feedback reports and complaints to both in-game GM's and out-of-game Customer Service.

Lastly, I never use in-game chat. While I agree it should have obscenity filter capability and even GM moderation, I am unclear how feasible those may be.

Guild, Alliance, and Party chat seem more than adequate to meet our in-game communication needs.

General civility, maturity, and reasonable behavior should clearly be encouraged with their opposites discouraged or even punished.

To the OP:

You've asked people that voted no to further explain their viewpoints.

I believe that they have.

I am against upping my billing for "improved customer service" for the following reasons:

- Billing went up before to create the same thing and it got worse.
- Lipstick on a pig doesn't change the fact that it's a pig. Customer service is so darned bad after the supposed previous improvement that it will still suck after fees are increased.
- Highly doubtful that money appropriated under the guise of improving customer service will actually go to customer service.

I was initially appalled by the "No, better customer service will only hurt UO" crap, but now that I think about it, I think it will hurt UO. If people hold up the threats of closing additional accounts, well, revenue will drop. Drops in revenue will threaten the continuation of the game, or at best reduce what customer service we have. I'll make it a simple math formala: 2*13, 3*13, etc will always be greater than 1*40.

Yes, it sucks that someone is griefing you and or your friend, but get enough people to page and some action will be taken. At least I've seen it done on Chesapeake for certain harrassers.

why would i pay more for better customer service? its their responsibility to provide good customer service and they fail to do so... most people i know can't even believe that they charge the same monthly fee in UO as they do in modern day MMOs, UO should really be like 7 bucks a month these days

Wheres the option to thank her for the 3 dollar increase for paging on people for problems that are self inflicted? Im sure it was people like her that flooded the pageing system so bad we now wait 8435835 hours for help or get the canned response. I sure the GM's got sick of reminding her that it is a MMORPG and people arent playing the way she wants em.

Sadly, I too play Legends and have encountered Jirel of Joiry in game. While I don't agree with what the person may have been saying in chat, you ***** way to much.

Someone killed a monster you attacked, you cry. Someone says anything in game you don't agree with, you cry. I suggest you leave the chat system, and zip your own lip. You're more annoying over there than the UO gold sellers are that spam the chat/banks...

First: There was the whole Jayden mess...Jasmine rezzed me and somehow got flagged grey, jayden guard whacked her. He was looting Jasmine so I started wailing on his butt and I got guard whacked but jayden(Last time I check looting in fel is STILL a criminal act.) did not??? WTH??

Second: I decided to heck with the event, I'll just buy a event rare I have plenty of gold. The guy I went to buy the rare from accused me of trying to scam him....Okay apparently some people shouldn't do drugs and play UO. The backpack I handed him had 50 1 million gold checks. I have NEVER scammed anyone or screwed over anyone in 8 eight yrs of playing UO. I told the guy forget it, took my 50 mil and LEFT. His stupid friend starts whining for me to come back, he didn't mean it and blah blah blah. I told him exactly where to go and what to do with himself when he got there.

Third: New O Recruit just starts crap, period. He just yells crap at everyone. If he ain't spewing his crap at you, you must be his only friend.

After this post, I so agree with your assessment about UO's current crop of players. You seem to be a prime example of everything you hate about the game. Attitude, indeed.

If the in game support went to things such as:

-Fixing housing problems(IE: Something drops beneath a house, you have to wait for 5 hours for a GM to get there to grab for ya)

-GMs taking actions against people using racial slurs and very vulgar language in chat, or spamming chat ETC.

-GMs taking action against scripters.

-GMs doing routine checks for dupes etc.


Then I would gladly pay 2$ more a month. How many subscribers does UO have? 100k? 200k = 6-7 full time employee's. I could see it being a good thing honestly.

I voted no, but only because I believe EA simply doesn't care enough and is totally unwilling to provide any decent in game support. I didn't want to give them the idea that I -might- be willing to pay for some shred of hope that they could ever pull such a thing off, only to end up paying higher subscription fees for the same crap service they provide now.
