Valentine's "Cupid" Scavenger Hunt question

I have a question about the Valentine's "Cupid" Scavenger Hunt.

Is it EM run which means, only at "some" times which could NOT be convenient for players' schedules?

Or, is it an ongoing 24 hours a day Event (until it will be turned off, of course), and players WILL be able to attend it at THEIR best convenience ?

The difference is quite meaningfull because players' schedule might well differ from that of an EM thus leaving some players unable to attend.

This is almost always the case.

That's unfortunate.

But not always though, I remember the Candle of Love, just to name one, which was well designed and players could attend according to THEIR best schedule, not that of an Event moderator.

I much more prefer Events which once designed, are automatically handled by the game engine only.

Although I appreciate the event on Europa and the effort the EM put into it, I do wish it lasted a few days. There were 45 Cupids released over 2-3 hours on Europa and people were finding 4-5 whilst others found zero. :(

This is literally the first I've ever heard of these events. So, oh well.

45?!!!

Some of them must have spawned somewhere impossible to get to.... people ran around Ilsh for many hours just looking for one.
And the EM told in chat when new ones was spawned I guess? (since it happened 3 times)

I would have guess there was only 10-20 maybe. but 45? sounds like a lot but im sure your right. Some of them must have spawned and dissapeared within few sec :)

There were 3 rounds of 15, In total 30 'Normal' Stuffy bears were handed out, and 15 'Rare' Stuffy Bears.

They moved around quite a bit apparently, So who knows where some of them ended up!

Our EM wrote to chat something like "next round is in 15 minutes" or "at least one still alive" or even "sorry, no clues".

I'v found them at garg bank (2 rounds), near dragons at ki-rin cave, near water elems at justice, chaos ruins and some other places. Does it count as impossible to get locations?

Dunno I didnt hunt for them, I only saw a lot of people in chat not able to find for hours. and was wasting their time.... I dunno what the EM wrote it was not in General but I guess it could have been in Event chat? I don't really care, im just saying that it sounded like a lot when you consider that there was many who didnt find any. But I rather like the hunts on the US shards compared to EU. Seemed to be less people complaining who attended those. :)

30 normal bears with one of 2 text labels
15 rare with one of 3 text labels

So 2*15 normal and 3*5 rare.

But isnt there 3 different text ? or is there more?

I mean its simple math. 15 with Love Two Times, 15 with Happy Valentine 15 with Be my Valentine?

Or is this wrong?

Because I got one of each

There were 5 texts.

I think one of the rares was "Tainted Love".

Had a look into my Journal:

The two common labels: "Be My Valentine" and "Happy Valentines Day" (30 of these, EM didn't say how many of each label, I would guess 15 of each but who knows)

The 3 rare labels: "Love Me Two Times", "Hello, I Love You" and "Tainted Love" (15 of these, Again, No specifics, 5 of each would make sense.)

Well on Baja, we had to hunt for romantic places where you had to find a box that contained a book and a bear. You had to kill the re-nouned creature that was near the box. However the next part sucked!!!! The box was locked untill the re-nound creature was killed, then the box would unlock and it was a free for all. So basically you didn't have to do anything to the re-nouned just stand buy the box. And being that if you had slow connection, dexer or lag you got squat!!! I know a paticular toon that got 3 bears by standing next to the box and waiting.
Sometimes things are just not thought through enough. It was fun anyway but a little disappointing. :gun::redx:

All Europa bears was in cupids loot inside box. A box itself was not movable. Two times I forced to wait 5 sec because "box guarded by magic force" or like that.

This is almost always the case.
But not always though
I did say "almost always".

I can see the benefit of automated events allowing everyone to participate, but I feel they lack emotional resonance.

The usual cycle is the events arrive with a publish, which has already been checked out on Test weeks ago, the spoilers are posted which most people read or share, so everyone knows what to expect apart from the few holdouts who still enjoy exploring the game themselves instead of relying on others for answers.

Then we have each person logging each character on each account to go through all the motions without any mystery, they accrue a whole pile of goodies from the event which are generally meaningless because they're neither exclusive nor earned. Once the dust settles, most people are disappointed with the result, save for the few people who are pleased to get anything.

Then people post the forums and complain about lack of lockdowns, the crappy artwork, how they could have done the event so much better themselves, how greedy people suck because they get in the way of getting stuff :)confused:), how they wasted time on this publish when so much needs debugging/balancing/nerfing/attention, and so forth.

I still feel the live events are more engaging. The EMs are good at what they do, and they seem to add their own little local twists to the worldwide stuff. Anything else is just grinding quests.

While I enjoy the EM participation, and the personal touches and such, the Candle of Love quest was quite possible the best all-round "event".

I'd much rather see seasonal events run like that with the EMs providing some flavour.

Well on Legends the EM used graveyards, anti virtue dungeons, FEL Cities and the Waste; not sure what context those places have to do with Valentine's Day. Clearly some shards Em put a great deal of thought into locations and context, others not so much.

Chessy's was spread over most of Ilsh from what I gather (I spent 3 hours in one area near the em-cast gate) and wasn't in any way related to Love/Vday. I had at least hoped that our EM would have researched the virtues and spread the spawned boxes around the 4 gates or shrines that were related to love (Compassion, Sacrifice, Justice, Spirituality). Would have made it more of a "hunt" and less of happening to be in the right place at the right time, especially since the event was all-day and only 50 items were released.

I agree with Kimi. I would really like to see more events like Candle of Love - well planned, enough clues to get you through and multiple-day spread, with some EM touches for each shard if they liked. Who cares if the items aren't as rare as the 45-50 handed out by the vday events?
