Use this thread to sign up for the PVP Tourney Date: February 13, 2010 Time: 8PM EST Place: Stonehaven Arena Rules: Few things: First tier = mage vs mage Second tier = dexer vs dexer Finals = Best mage vs best dexer Winner will get a reward placed in the hall. Rules are as follows: -No use of hide/stealth skill, including smoke bombs. -No disarm -No pets or summons of any kind -No firefields, poison fields, conflags, etc. -No potions in Mage vs. Mage *Rules may be added/amended at any time.

Saturday night, Valentines weekend? Don't know about anyone else, and Im not trying to infer that if you are going to this you dont have a life, but its definitely a night where most people would already have plans. It's a suckers holiday but I like having sex so I'm going to go ahead and take my wife out for our first Valentines Day as a married couple. Im sure I'll have more fun than stomping a hole in a few average pvpers inside a video game can provide.

I'll probably devote a few hours to the Valentine's thing (cause I'm a sweet ******* like that), but not enough to absorb my whole weekend, and nothing that can't be done on actual Valentine's day.

I think you're in the minority for setting apart all of Valentine's Eve.

Besides, Valentine's Day (aka, Singles Awareness Day for some) is the best time to have a fight to the death.

Ooh, I just had a Valentine's idea. I can make a macaroni card with glitter. It'll be so gay, it'll loop around to sweet. Unfortunately, my glitter supplies are at an all-time low.... Ah well, it was an idea.

I get 365 evenings with her per year. Why should a commercialized holiday like Valentine's make me do much differently? If I go all out on Valentine's Day, can I be more of a jerk the other 364 nights?

(I'm not normally one to complain about the commercial holidays, but seriously, Valentine's Day? There's not even a vaguely relevant reason for the day to exist, beyond the excuse to run around elementary schools giving children candy hearts, and the police say I can't do that any more.)

I do something nice on Valentine's Day, and celebrate the important ones with actual meaning when they come around.

I'm not trying to say you shouldn't go out just so you can play a game. I think you'd find that if you took your Valentine's Day plans and did them on any other day of the year though, it would mean even more to her.

The PVP tournament has been canceled due to lack of interest. It will be rescheduled when more interest can be generated.

With all due respect to our EM for trying to put something together for us, I'm guessing part of the lack of interest may be due to the current templates on Siege and the way the duels are set up. Its nearly impossible for a dexer to hit a parry mage, which is the template most mages are running lately. Without parry, mages are at a disadvantage and, well, we can hardly blame them. Most of those who might participate are going to run the best template they can put together. No harm/no foul, but when it comes to dueling, its not such a great matchup.

If EM Cecil might consider it... My suggestion would be to hold a separate duel event for mages and one for dexers to find the best in each category and see if that might be a little more palatable to would-be contestants.

I kind of figured everyone would tailor thier templates to what they were fighting; I was going to go scribe/necro. Assuming I made it to the dexer round (unlikely knowing how often kage and sun have kicked me around in training) I was going to go necro/parry. I assumed whoever won the dexer would slap on bush/resists/parry and dbl weap with bleed/mortal/ai capability.

It never had been said that your temp could not be swapped for the final round. Valentines day seems to have cut a few guys out of it as well.
