Soooo ...

... I thought to myself, having saved up 150k blank scrolls through time, let me go try scribe myself a Repond Slayer.

I had a box at home with all the regular slayer type books and from crafting in the past I had the Elemental, Reptile and Undead Slayer books.
I knew the Undead ones were not so special anymore nowadays because one can get one easy with a newbie quest in Haven.
I always wanted a Repond Slayer in my collection for hunting Tribals.

So I craft a box full of pens and sat down and started to scribe ...
Hours, hours and hours the past 3 days.
From the first stack of 60k scrolls I got 3 Reptile, 2 Undead, 1 Arachnid and 4 Demon Slayers ... no Repond Slayer. It took me 2 days to use up this 60k
Yesterday with the results of the 2 days before in mind I started full of hope a second stack of 60k and sofar I have used up 40k and did not see one single Super Slayer yet.

As I was scribing I checked my box with the full regular slayer collection, some had nice mods added because through time I always replaced a book if I managed to scribe a better one so it was a decent collection.
Thinking now I have my Super Slayers let me clean out this box to save some lockdowns, and I tossed all the regular slayers that were covered by the Super Slayers I had accumilated by now.
Note ... Whilst scribing I tossed all books BUT the Super Slayers in my trash barrel, even some nice regular slayer books thinking I do not need those anymore.

Needing a break from all this clicking and dragging books, I thought let me search the forums and see if I can find other peoples experiences scribing Super Slayers.
To my schock I read a couple of posts covering a change to the books making regular slayers doing 3 times the damage versus 2 times on the Super Slayers.

And I just tossed all but 3 books yesterday ... omg ... (yes you can laugh)
I don't know how I missed this news, I have been playing off and on past years, but usually I tend to read up on the changes as I return, somehow this news has escaped me.

So now I will scribe up the last batch of scrolls I have and try to replace all my regular slayers, and keep hoping for my jackpot ... the Repond Slayer.

Although some Super Slayers cover some types of monsters that are not covered by the regular slayers, it is my understanding now it is way better to use the specific book for the specific monsters.

3 questions I have still reading the different posts.

1. Are Repond Slayers rarer then the others or is it just plain luck?

2. I see different opinions about scribing with 120 real or 120 made up by items Magery Skill points, but upto now I cannot find any real conformation of either statements, does this conformation exsist somewhere?

3. Also the official announcement of the changes to the slayers I cannot seem to find, maybe someone else can and link it for me?

I am still doubting if I wasted 100k scrolls sofar :D, but will scribe on till I have replaced my slayer collection, and hope for the best.

UPDATE: 10 minutes after making this post .... I got the Repond Slayer !!!
So it took me 102k scrolls to get it, meaning a total of 11 Super Slayers. I will go on just a little bit to complete my regular set. No doubts anymore 102k scrolls is worth the Repond Slayer for me :D

Plain luck, i managed to [while working scribe to GM] make 2 reponds [one with SDI one with MR...WOOT!!! This was using around 70k scrolls.

The slayer books WILL do more damage than super slayers...but it means keeping a hell of alot more books available and as i use them mainly for spawns...not very practical.

An easy example would be a dragon slayer will do around 50% more damage than that of a reptile slayer.

A poison elemental slayer will do more than elemental.

Why would you throw away all those spellbooks? You can donate them to the library for points. Get 10 points per book.

100k scrolls in spellbooks ... that's a lot of extra time, recalling and clicking, I was not in the mood for that.

Well hey, whaddya know, learn something new every day.
(It works, just tested it)

Repond typically doesn't work on human-form creatures, but apparently savages are an exception.
:D

As I read the discription of the Repond Slayers it is my understanding this books is meant to hit the "humanoid" types.

Well that's true but actual "PC char form" monsters typically aren't classified as repond. I can only assume it's some side-issue from making repond not work on actual PCs
