Hi,

Well, I played UO when I was in college (late 90's) from about right after beta through around 2004, mainly on Chesapeake. I left for the same reason a lot of people left, I didn't like the game anymore after the trammel/felucca split, I thought the community really shattered at that point so while I did stick around till around 2004, I felt it never was the same.

I've been playing LOTRO, but that game requires too much contiguous time for the quests, so I'd like to come back to UO and just feel it out. I created a character last week on Atlantic because it seems to be one of the more crowded shards (which is a good thing to me).

Anyway, if any guild out there with mature players would welcome me as a casual player, I'd love to join up with you. I plan on giving this (UO) a good amount of time to see how it feels again.

As I always say, Atlantic is a great place to look for guilds. There are a lot of good ones here. What kind of game play do you like? Player vs. monster (PvM)? Player vs. player (PvP)? Peerless and champ encounters? Player killing? I'm sure we can help narrow down your choices.

I am mainly interested in anything in the PVM realm for now.

I used to play a Detective on chessy, actually wrote one of the FAQs here when there was a detective forum but not looking for PVP again at this point.

I take it the BK wall is no longer around or used for gaining melee skills?

Nowadays, most folks power train melee skills using a 100% poison damage weapon against a GM tinker-crafted golem. Golems are 99% immune to poison damage, which means you can whack on them for quite a while before their health gets low. Also, by issuing certain commands in the correct order, you can trick the golem's AI into not attacking you. This method is not as fun or profitable as normal hunting, but gains come faster because you can train indefinitely with no pauses between targets.

I'm a bit bias, but you're welcome to give United We Fight a try. We're an adult, purely PvM guild. Our mission is simply: fun and fellowship. As an adult guild, we're not real keen on a bunch of rules - only the few necessary to keep the peace. Specifically, a) don't PK guild mates, b) don't steal from guild mates, c) mind your p's and q's in guild chat. Here's a recent profile about us: http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=177550.

There are many other great guilds on Atlantic, as well. Tazar (Stratics' Atlantic moderator) runs "ODE," which is another PvM guild. Tiny Dancer's "TDT" does a mixture of PvM and PvP, as does Paps' "Ni". Honestly, I've had good interactions with pretty much all of the larger guilds on Atlantic. Again, definitely check out the guilds page.

Ok, I've got the UO bug again...

I can't believe that I actually placed a small tower in Malas, really close to Umbra, with no issue. Been mining like crazy, all that fun stuff. I'll be contacting on of the guilds this weekend to join up
