[Imbuing] Imbuing 0 --> 120 : Resources estimate ?

I did quite a bit of reading of the FAQ, the Guide and several threads but I could not find the info I was looking for.

Perhaps anyone might be of help ?

I am trying to find if anyone who trained Imbuing from scratch all the way up to 120 made a note of how many resources where used up in the process.

That is, roughly of course, how many of each resource should an imbuer willing to train the skill all the way up to 120 estimate to use up in the process ?

Also, with some skills (for example inscription), there are slower ways to train up but more cost effective (use less resources) and faster ways but more expensive (usage of more resources in the process). Is that the same for imbuing or pretty much whichever way one trains it up in the end the usage of resources (and final costs) will be basically similar ?

Thanks.

Hey mate. I pretty much bombed through doing leather caps & jingsa (sp?) plate all the way and finished yesterday. Took about 20 hours hardcore.

Used, very roughly:

20k Residue
25k Amber
20k citrines
7k ingots
3k or so leather

That's really rough as I didnt keep any kind of count/

I could probably do it for so much cheaper but I wantd to level as quick as possible

Yeah I think that seems like a good ballpark estimation of what it will take you to go from 40 - 120. (buy it up to 40 ofc)

Another option is to unravel looted items for gains, especially if you are not in a great hurry. I actually made it up to 95.1 before starting to actually imbue items.

I agree, if you're in no hurry it's the cheapest way.
I went from 50 to 75 extremely fast and a little bit slower to 81.
I don't know if I'll have the patience to continue up to 95, but even if I mix it with some real imbuing I'll still count on some gains just unraveling my tamer's loot.

The nice thing about unravelling for gains is that it builds you up a stockpile of materials for when you DO start crafting for gains.

This is doubly true if you hunt items that give gems, in order to get things to unravel (gargoyles, dragons, etc.)

Currently at 109.9 - and stopped for the purposes of rebuilding my stash/building up my Loyalty rating.

0-40 - NPC Purchased
40.1 - 81.1 - solely by unraveling loot
81.2 - 109.9 - ~3.5k ingots (doing the dagger/jingasa helm route)
~6k amber
~3k citrine
~5k residue

I would say that, overall, getting to this point has cost me a total of just about nothing. The ingots I already had in stock, and that barely put a dent in things. The gems, for the most part, cost about 450k total, and another 250k for the soulforge in my house, but in hunting things for items to unravel, I've put away in the neighborhood of 750k, so I am actually making something of a profit, as well as finding some relatively decent items that I have stored for imbuing for when I actually hit 120 and have access to the Queens Soulforge and the high end imbuing ingredients.

By unraveling everything early on, I had more than enough essence for my 120 scroll by the time I hit 80.0. If you can, hunt the higher fame monsters for drops - you will generally net more essences from these, and seemingly more residue as well. I've also looted some items that are borderline relic material, with just an imbue needed (again, once I hit 120/10000).

Also, being at this level, I managed to make (with little effort) an all 70's, 100lrc suit, just on the 6 armor pieces, leaving primary/secondary/ring/bracelet for some skill boosters to make my imbuer more self sufficient (she's now 110 mage/109.9 (and otw to 120) imbue, 80 mysticism, 100 med, 100 eval, 100 alchemy) and the skill boosters are no longer needed. Toss in Swords of Prosperity, and she's at 990 luck as well. No frags or special ingredients were harmed or used in this suit :)

*disclaimer - Guido is a legendary tailor/smith/gm arms lore, with more than a few runics at his disposal - the imbuing to those leather pieces weren't many. I was also able to make an all 70's/100 LRC suit simply by imbuing GM leather, but there were no other mods on them to make the suit really usable, especially if you are used to things like MR, LMC, SDI, etc.

This is all post-pub 63:

From 50-70, I unraveled stuff I looted, mainly using my sampire to farm Miasma. I started actively training imbuing at 70.

From 70 to 120 I used:

- 13933 Magical Residue
- 14043 Citrine
- 4151 Amber
- 3424 Iron Ingots
- 867 Dull Copper Ingots

I used my smith to assist my imbuing training. I crafted iron daggers, then dull copper daggers, then iron light jingasas. I switched from daggers to jingasas at 113 skill. My imbuing training was done on a human at a soulforge in a player's house.

Hit 120 tonight just as the Superbowl came to an conclusion - the only time I stopped from 112 was to watch The Who :)

Anyhow, numbers are -

0-40 was NPC purchased
40.1 - 81.1 - solely by unraveling loot (ended up with 5802 residue, 609 essence)
81.2 - 120 -

5108 iron ingots
11972 citrine
4756 amber
9859 residue

(.8 points came from making an all 70's, 100 lrc suit for mage training, .3 came from unraveling post 110, .2 came from imbues that were over 100% guaranteed).

This was a human, on a home forge.

from 100 on, I used a modified version of R. Traveler's guide - I felt his choices used more material than necessary, so I made some changes that always kept my target % in the 64.1 to 64.9 range. It made for more mouse clicks, but it worked for me.

Also, I'm guessing that with the right loot, it would be possible to get into the low 90's simply by unraveling. It slowed to a point for me that it was no longer acceptable to do it that way.
