Do two handed melee weaps need a buff?

Hally's, bardiche's, short spears, spears, war hammers, etc. Do these items need a buff? Be it higher damage cap, increase their speed according to damage output, fix their specials, or give them the chance to be balanced. Do these weapons, and all other 2h melee need a buff!?

I think they definitely deserve the balanced property. Would be ideal also if they had a two tile effective killing radius.

Not really. A Samurai using a nice two-handed weapon will destroy any of these terrible archers. Granted, killing the archers becomes difficult when they inevitably begin to run.. so perhaps a range increase is in order for 2-H melee.

Or perhaps change throwing to when a human/elf has it, they can throw their weapon, granting some sort of damage bonus or something. That would be sweet.

I think it's kind of stupid an entire skill in the game would be limited to one race that has absolutely no potential for anything other than throwing a rising colossus into a swarm of mongbats. But that's another thread..

Not balanced though.. if you made two-handed weapons balanced samurais would be far more overpowered now than people think archers are.

Pole arms such as Halberd, Bardiche, Long Spear, etc often in other games get an extended attack radius. I think they should in UO also. I can honestly say I have never tried to use a halberd or bardiche for anything other than the occasion joust many years ago. They are both such limited use weapons imo. This would give them back some attraction.

I believe the balanced property should never have been brought into the game in the first place. One of UO's little hypocrisies is bow's having balanced property (which makes no sense) and yet something like a halberd that is 2x as long as any sword can only one reach one tile? Either remove the balanced property or make it available on all 2h weapons imo.

Yeah, balanced property was not a wise addition to UO. IMO though, if it's gonna stay then all dexxer should benefit from it not just archers. I'd be happier if the property was removed though.

In many MMO's, you cannot fire a bow at close range (UO terms say 3-4 tiles). But in those games, the archers can have a secondary weapon skill that is at a lower proficiency to archery.

IMO

Remove balanced...AND add 2-3tile "range" on 2handed weapons.

I still use a bardiche / hally alot, bardiche is a nice dismount (and works best against faction horse riding mofo's) blaze of death is awesome at spawns.

It would be nice to have a little extended range on a weapon which is meant to be longer.

PvM wise maybe, in that list the hatcet is the only viable pvp one (IMO)

it would have to be thought of actually, maybe the polearms varieties should be 2-3tile and the ones you mentioned stay 1tile.

it seems silly that a weapon the same size as a person can only swing as far as a dagger.

I think some of the swing speeds could be tweaked **maybe** .25 sec. But I've always held that polearms should have a longer strike area ... 2-3 tiles. I see others feel that way as well. Makes perfect sense - a good reason it may take years to get it.

Yea they need a buff. They suck for the most part.

Melee in general could use a slight PVP buff, or archers nerfed.

Eh, from Lynk's posts sounds like he uses Ornate Axes to good effect. And yea Rune Blade is PvM oriented. So?

it really is plausable. I think this should be enacted and i agreed with the one poster that an archer should be ineffective at 1-2 tiles

Been saying this for years now

There's no need for 2 handed weapons when I use my old HCI/DCi/Reflect shield that can now be imbued...
