And advice on what type of character to build?

I'm joining Siege because it just looks like so much fun.

I am however incapable of doing things unless i plan them out first.

Here is the breakdown
I have 2 accounts so I'll be making two characters.
I'm not good at Pvp but eager to learn.
I have fun playing any build so long as i play with other people.
I want to be in an active guild that plays together often. Doing whatever.

Any suggestions for what i should be?
Other than joining the NEW guild is there any information i should know beforehand?

Thanks all for any help

- James

Make one account a pvper and one account a money maker...play whatever you enjoy for a pvper and make either a disco tamer or hide/stealth/ninja/tamer to farm silver or a sampire for pvm...as for active guilds try TNT,JSV, or SP!...

Welcome to Siege Perilous...

Keep one account open and buy soulstones and run two templates on one account...or make a tamer and PvP with him and PvM...

Alright sounds good. I've heard it said there is less cheating or speedhacking on Siege. Is this a good place to learn how to pvp or should i try and learn how to do that well first?

How about thiefs, like a faction thief. Are there plenty of those? or does siege need another?

I've always thought with two accounts, make an int based character (mage) and a dex based character (melee). Unless you of course want to be a crafter, take one of those two out. Reason being that with soulstones, you can be whatever you want with regards to skills, HOWEVER it is very difficult/time consuming to swap around your stats.

So character one would have stats of say 95/120/40 and you could be a:
mage/tamer
pvp mage
tamer/bard
mage/bard
pvm mage

Start up the basic mage/med/eval/resist/wrestle. Put parry in for pvp. When you pvm throw parry/wrestle/resist on a stone and take taming/lore/vet. Of course it depends on how many soulstones you can acquire, but over several years you WILL acquire a lot. If you only have two soulstones, then parry for pvp or poison/inscribe for pvm.

The other character would have stats of say 90/70/100 (depending on getting max swing speed out of your weapon of choice). You could be:
bushido archer - pvp/pvm
abc (archer/bushi/chiv) - pvm
ninja/dismout archer - pvp
fencer - pvp/pvm depending on supplementary skills.

I'd start with your choice of weapon skills, then either go:
weapon/tactics/anat/heal/bushido/resist + leftover med if you want a shown template, preferable for archers.
weapon/tactics/hide/stealth/ninja/heal + leftover med for a non-shown template.
And just again, swap out skills based on number of soulstones you can acquire.

Faction thieves are nice, there are very few of them, but aren't REALLY needed. I'd suggest only playing a faction thief if that is something you really love doing, if you don't move on to something else.

As for guilds, if you join NEW, you'll have plenty of time to get to know other guilds, survey the landscape and make an informed decision when you leave. And if not, just ask Shalimar or even people on these boards more information about guilds you've run across and do your homework from there.

Thats a good idea, isn't there no delay on soulstones though? or is there on Siege.

I'd try this out but it sounds very very time consuming to develope those skills, and also how many soulstones would you suggest having? I think i can take 2-5.

Thank you

I have 49 soul stones distributed among 5 accounts :)

If you want a good pvp/pvm character I would recommend a archer for pvp and a sampire for pvm. Both require max dex, decent int and decent str.

My skills are along these lines

120 parry
120 swords
120 archery
120 Bushido
120 ninja
100 tactics
100 hide
100 Resist
100 anatomy
100 healing
100 necro
80 Meditation
75 stealth
50 necro (for wammy set up)

With those skills you can run an effective pvp archer. Then when the battle dies down you can swap out your skills (not having to worry about stats) and go right into pvm mode. Also, having the archery gives you the advantage of playing a wammy archer to solo those bigger bosses!!

He was a mage at one point as well, with these skills stoned

115 mage
115 resist
115 necro
115 spirit
115 med
115 eval

After typing that out...I just realized that, that account is loaded!!!

SS are like Potato Chips, hard to stop once you start!

I started out with dexxer skills

120 fence
120 bushy
120 resist
100 parry
100 tactics
100 anat
100 healing

then added

115 mage
115 eval
105 necro
110 spirit speak
120 myst

then went crafter crazy

120 imbuing
120 tailoring
100 arms lore
110.5 smithy ( be 120 in a week)
70 tink (100 as soon as smithy is over)

One fact is most people have at least one char with Hiding Stealth on Siege!

Welcome and good luck!!!

No delay on soulstones. I'd get as many as you can, but you don't need to get them all now.

I've always thought that four soulstones is a good number. That leaves 1 soulstone blank and allows you to swap out 3 skills at once. This way you can very much instantly go from pvp to pvm. For example on a mage, you can go from your pvp mage - mage/med/eval/resist/wrestle/parry to a tamer - mage/med/eval/taming/lore/vet or to a bard mage/med/eval/music/provo/peace.

But once you get started on soulstones, hard to stop.

Suggestion would be to train up your main characters 6-7 skills. Once you've got those maxed out, get a few soulstones, and during dead time swap out your skills and train up your other skills - 2-3 skills at once. Training 1 skill at a time is usually a pain in the rear since it's hard to utilize all your daily ROT gains for one skill.

Thats something like 8 soulstones. That is madness man!
Unless they cost less there. I love the idea of going archer to sampire and using a multitude of playstyles. I'm now going to heavily consider that.

Everyone's input is really helpful and thank you all!

Actually its 17 soulstones :) Two blank and the rest full. Cost for a soulstone is 3mill on average. Sometimes you can get a deal at 2.5mill. But its nice being able to switch out at will. Love being able to play either a stealth bokuto ninja set up, or a stealth archer/crazy archer set up, or go do a lady mel with the wammy archer. Then solo a champ spawn as a sampire or get into wraith form and throw on necro. takes quite some time raising all those skills, but its worth it.

But if you're just starting out I would make an archer. Sure its lame as balls in pvp :), but for all around beastlyness its good to have.

welcome to siege .

as far as skills go , play what you like . its your game after all .

one thing i might suggest is if you dont mind crafting , create some kind of crafter . they are in short supply here and ROT is very easy to do with most craft skills . on prodo you can bang out hundreds of items trying to get a gain . with Rate Over Time its make one thing and get a gain . saves allot on resources .
its also hard sometimes to find someone to make or repair your stuff so if you at least have the skills on stones its quite a help. pluss people will pay well for things, especially imbued things. imbuing is so handy to balance out a suit here ... its not like once we get the perfect suit we have it forever)

you are on the right track with NEW . spend your month watching those around you . you will get to know who is who and how they act . with one char per account it we get to know one annother prety well .

siege is great like that , we have a prety good community and your actions will have consquenses . ive played many different shards since almost the begining and i can tell you , you cant just log on a guy no-one knows and be an ass and expect to get away with it for long . you can easily do that on prodo , but not here . once you build yourself a reputation , you can expect player justice to be swift and harsh. ive seen people try and get blacklisted , and the more well off characters have no problem dropping 100k bounty on your happy ass .

fight honorably and even enemies will most likely treat you with respect. (after the battle is over of course)
expect to be killed . expect to be looted . its nothing personal , it just keeps you from getting back in the way.
once the dust has settled , most people will look at your actions and think . lets see , was he a jerk ? (your stuff goes in the trash) was he fair ? (sell him his crap back) did he stand and fight ? not whine like a pancake ? (give the guy a discount)

again welcome , i hope you stick it out long enough to get good .
dont get mad ... get even .
once you graduate from NEW i hope you will join us on the side of justice.
pm me if you need any advice or basic supplies.

Wonderful! I do expect to die a lot. I picture it as a cutthroat place where if somebody is at the spawn you want you kill them and take it. But the people here make it sound like there's honor and good fun to be had. I cant wait to be honest.

Thanks for the help everyone

If you want PvP and research the guilds, you'll want to run this:

vs SP!

Tea Party 100
Tinkering 100
Tailoring 120
Blacksmith 120
Arms Lore 100
Imbuing 120
Magery 60

vs JSV/TnT

Detect Hidden 100
Tracking 100
Parry 120
Wrestling 120
Hide 100
Stealth 80 (75, but 80 looks cooler)
Ninja 100

And simply be the guild pancake...

Hope that helps!

Sakey you Biatch, are you back... Benn away fromt he boards and the game a couple of weeks or a month or so... So not quite up to date! But if you are back! Id love to say Ill come and whoop your ass soon.... ( most likely it wont happen like that but id love to day it).... I post a screenie of you dead and me laughing within a couple of weeks... "Roy, Beo, Speedy, Roland, Shadospawn, Cali hide I want a screenie" of me :fight: :twak: Sakey!!!!

:danceb:

Well on the note of that, welcome to Siege, id follow Asty`s adnice and no you dont need 8 nor 17 soulstones... if you choose to run the archer, pvp / archer, pvm you can do it with like 3-4 stones and still be able to have some verity in it... regarding soloing pvm ask Asty!!!

Hey man. I primarily run a nerve strike/death strike Bokuto template. Skills are

120 ninja
120 bushido
120 swords
100 hiding
100 tactics
80 meditation
75 stealth

The stats I run on that temp are 100 str, 30 dex, 125 int. After equipment mods the stats are usually around 140-150 hit points, 50 stamina and around 150-160 mana.

That template is not suitable for pvm at all. Reason I didn't make a sampire with him is due to the fact that he's red, thus not being able to take advantage of the virtue system.

So I decided to train up a second pvp character. One that would be able to pvm as well.

Pvp set up is identical to the one stated above.

120 archery and 120 Swords (to switch from archer to bok set up)
120 bushido
120 ninja
100 tactics
100 hiding
80 Meditation
75 stealth

Pvm template (Sampire)

120 swords
120 parry
120 bushido
100 necro
100 tactics
100 anatomy
60 chiv (i would recommend putting a +10 bracelet/ring to hit 70)

To effectively run the pvp template it may take a day to adjust the stats accordingly. You will need to play around with the mana pool, as pvm takes far less mana than pvp.

Stats on this guy for pvp were around 105 str, 90 dex and 60 int.
- - After potions and equipment the stats would look like 130, 150, 100

Stats for this guy for pvm were 105 str, 125 dex and 25 int.
- - After equipment mods It would look like 125, 182, 60

Either way you look at it, its going to take you quite some time to train up those skills. I had help. A friend and I used to play both accounts and would double team the training, thus making it much more bearable to get all the gains in a given day. But it would take about 7 soulstones to be able to swap back and forth at will.

If ya got any questions just ask away.

Hey man. I primarily run a nerve strike/death strike Bokuto template.

I've never seen Ninjitsu and Bushido used in the same template effectively.
I do like the sound of that though.

Also i think training the skill is more fun in some ways than utilizing it once they're done. That might be because i haven't pvp'd successfully though.

When people pvm in Siege, do they get attacked a lot?
I guess that is a generic question, but its one of the things that i find most fascinating about siege.

Thank you again

Depends on where you farm. I like to do Lady Mels and what not. Keying up and can and will be a pain. Since silver is a hot item now there are always people coming into blighted grove. So be prepared to fight back often. but if your just farming your regular swoops/miasmas/balrons and what not you wont be interrupted that often.
